Awwww goosebumps! When I wanna feel good imma replay this! I had in my younger days a canary yellow 1970 followed by a mustard ‘72. Thanks so much for this feel good video!’ ❤️
I love the taillights on vintage Opels. Well, the whole car looked great! When started driving in 1980 I had an orange/bronze/copper (dunno what the heck it was called) colored '74 Opel Manta A. Actually, I live in the USA, so it was a Buick Opel Manta and Opels in general were pretty damn rare. Odd thing is, my GF in high school had a metallic blue GT. My calculus teacher had a Kadett which I did general maintenance on during my auto mechanics classes. Those were the only 3 Opels in a school of over 2000 people. I think the GT might have been more popular numbers-wise, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I loved my Opel! I didn't own it too long, but I learned a lot about working about cars with that one. Vapor lock was my biggest problem during hot St. Louis weather, which we cured by installing an electronic fuel pump. Took a couple tries to make it work right, but it did it. Always mount them low by the tank, not on the firewall. :-)
I had wanted an Opel GT during my senior high school years but it was rare and difficult to find a used one which was kept decently. I finally settled on a Manta couple which was almost equally satisfying. But the electrical things were really a pain in the neck as most local mechanics didn’t know how to deal with it.
My first car was a 1954 Ford truck but shortly after that was an Opel Manta and then my 71 Opel GT. They were a lot of fun for a 16 year old. I had to learn to work on them for sure. By the end the GT was burning more oil than it was gasoline.sure wish I kept them.
They were great cars. I'd love to know what the corporate decision was that led to its end? Maybe a car like the Fiero would have been outclassed by the Opel (?) by the 90s. You hear all this blather about "Lotus Elan", but it didn't even have wind-up windows for a time; they slid up and down. Great work there, Colin. The GT was a real thing, and I really wonder what kind of powerplant Opel would have used in it.
My US spec '74 Manta had dealer installed A/C and it was pathetic during horrible hot and VERY humid St. Louis summers (middle USA). That's the only thing I didn't like about the car, well, besides vapor lock in the summer, but we fixed that. I love the timeless design of the Manta and the GT.
I'd love to beef up the suspension a little & drop a small block Chevy in one of these things... With the size of it, it would be a pretty wicked machine with a V6 in it really... I've always wanted one... someday...
I love Opel GT s I had one when I was 19 sold it after 5 years when I have my second child bought an SUV it was a huge mistake hahaha I hope to someday get one again why are there some nice cars there one I think that was like a teal color really stood out and towards the end there was that maroon one with the white interior I totally modified but holy moly that thing is gorgeous I'd love to know who made that and how much it cost haha
My first car was an Opel GT, at 19 years old. It was a beater car, with a bad carburetor (which I hear is typical). I have fond memories of it, but, it really wasn't a good car. BUT, it was definitely NOT like these Opel look. I'm sure if I was to drive one today, I would absolutely hate it. LOL
My uncle had an orange Opel GT?! Yr don't know but lights popped up.... He had came out of the US Navy!!! Talk about a unique car!!? I was very young then ?!7-10 yrs old!? He also had a 65-66 mustang With hi po 289?! Opel Gt are nice looking cars!!! How much horsepower we talking about!? Think his had over 140-160 on the speedometer!? They look like smaller versions of "Stingrays/Corvettes!?!
Hey guys I’m in struggling choosing with either a $1500 1969 opel G.T. or a $2900 1967 mustang, which one should I buy to start a project car and have the more fun?
It's unfortunate that the music buries the sound of the cars. I do wish youtubers would figure this out instead of pushing crap music at us throughout the video.
Well one thing is to film, it is a hold different set up when you are talking about the sound. When using Go pro's and iPhones is a challenge when trying too make great sound when the wind is blowing, but believe me I'm trying my best :-)
The Opel GT looks nicer than most Porsches. And I like Porsches. But *not* the SUV models. Also, I don't like the added front lower bumper, it changes the classic lines.
that lower cowel in front hides rotted repaired belly pans that battery up front helps to cause and also helps with aerodynamics/downforce, I believe... my GT would float at 105 mph, kinda like a hydroplaning feeling.. Very queezie.
Still beautiful today! Timeless!
Great show miss my 1973 Opel GT
Beautiful cars that never got the recognition they deserved. In my eyes, they're a cross between a gen 3 Corvette and a Ferrari 250 gto.

Hey I'm pleased that you like the videos :) :)
Wow seeing all those sweet GTs makes me smile. I had a silver '72 Opel GT when I was 19. Such a fun car!
You are so right, it is a fun car :-)

An incredible Opel GT meeting ! Opel GT and Opel Manta 1 were my teenage dreams. Thanks for the video.
Hi Antonio you are welcome :-)
I saw 2 today for the first time and fell in love straight away!
Always liked these cars. Very nice examples.

Loved my ‘72 GT. Fun and quirky car. A great time.
I'm in love with the blue one! 💗
Absolutely Feckin Awesome
Had a 1970 GT, loved it for 56,000 miles. Today I have a C6 Corvette, the exact same color as my old blue Opel.
I miss my 68 GT :( , my Manta GSI too . GT was funny :P

I had a 69 GT. Mine also had the very rare factory A/C. There were always electrical problems. When the car worked they were great.
Very cool looking. Brother owned one while serving in the United States Army. He would like to see another day in an Opel
Love these! My dad had one, and I always loved em. =)

I miss my opels, I had everything from the kadett , manta and the GT. I miss my 75 Manta the Most. Broad shoulders so the GT was too cramped for me.
Opel GT, for ever !!!
I miss my Opel gt. It was my favorite car. What I liked about it was the air conditioner. You don't see many with it. It was a fun car to drive.
Great fun to drive :-)

Beautiful
I like the simplistic look on the black one- has cues from a Porsche 906
Thank You, very nice - and in this short time!
Your are welcome Reinhard. Hope you like it. :-)
My 1973 Opel GT - one of the ones that got away. It's a shame there is not more of a GT presence here in the US.
One of the main reasons i purchased one in rough shape
they’re so beautiful
Yes it is a cool little car.
Nice

It is a little unique car, with standard 90 bhp :-)
maybe a turbo or supercharger would be a nice mod. it looks reasonably light weight.
¡Gracias por el vídeo ✌ ✌ ✌!
Your welcome :)
What's with the bullet hole stickers on the white one?
The silver one @1:23 is my fav. Are there any photos out there of it?
nope, just the video, sorry

Mustang a much heavier stable car but the GT has the cool factor all over a mustang.

I remember the Opal GT
So have most Opal GT survivors in the world migrated to Denmark ? It looks like it 👍😁
No, we are not that many - 100 cars in Denmark I guess. Lost off them in Germany and also many Germans in this meet.
What was the hood/bonnet bulge for? I doesn't look like they needed the space for the carb.
You have the answer - space for the carburetor and air filter. :-)
david gordon are you out there?
that blue one fuel injected?
don't know
To BAD THEY Discontinued..Imagine a honda in one of these this puppies
excuse me Mr salesman. but you forgot to put a v8 in my baby vette.
In America those cars are sitting as rust buckets in junkyards all over tge country we have no idea what were missing
Your are so right Phillip. More and more are bringen them back to europe to restore them.
