The truth is that every single community has their bad apples. From furries, to bronies, to chess, to gaming, you name it. All communities have their bad apples, none of them are safe from it
I agree with that....and if the majority of the furry community was just sharing wholesome drawings and occasionally wearing a costume, I wouldn't mind including them in that grouping. However, while *_all_* communities have their issues, the furry community seems to be predisposed to attracting perverse criminals. That's the issue. Sure, there are speed runners that fake times, there are assholes in chess, etc. ....gr 00ming, SA of animals? That's an entirely different thing. Same thing with Bronies. It's a community that attracts kids and people that would like to victimize those kids.
@@TheHibbitydibbitythere are people who are in the chess community and such who are sexual predators tho. you just don’t hear reporters saying “Chess player accused of three cases of statutory rape” cause people don’t care whether someone plays chess, or plays videogames or something. the furry community is one that people have been trying to demonize since it’s inception in the 80’s. you’re always going to hear when a furry is a predator or a criminal, because it’s something reporters think is worth pointing out. no one’s gonna say “hot wheels collector accused of kidnapping and withholding 4 minors in his basement” or “elder scrolls 5: skyrim enthusiast accused of possessing child p*rn” cause no one cares about those details. it’s the same reason the sexuality/gender identity of queer people are always stated in a headline when one of them may commit a crime, even if their identity has nothing to do with the crime they committed. it’s gives people ammo to say “see? i told you those gays were all groomers” or “see? trans people ARE pedophiles. i was right” the media doesn’t care about people. they will use whatever they can in a headline to get more clicks. and when you put, in your headline, that the person who committed any given crime was a “furry”, that’s gonna pull more people in. it’s gonna pull furries in, cause they wanna see how bad this is gonna make the community look. it’s gonna anti-furs cause they wanna prove a point. and it’s gonna pull in people who don’t know what “furries” are, cause they’re curious to know what a furry is what what significance it holds to the case. Thus, more clicks and more ad revenue for whatever journalism outlet made the post. Yes, every community has bad apples. but the furry community looks worse because people want to make us look worse. people care about the “abnormal traits” of a criminal, so as to try to parse out why someone may have done what they did. and being a furry is seen as “abnormal”. humans like to jump to conclusions, so when they hear that someone sexually assaulted an animal, and then they hear that the person was also apart of a strange subculture of people who are often scrutinized and looked down upon, the reader is going to assume that those two things directly correlate, because those two things are the two most defining things about the offender, and thus, must be connected somehow. but it doesn’t always work that way. there could be a person who dips plums in a tub of vinegar, slices them open, drizzles them with olive oil and chocolate sauce and then sprinkles rabbit shit on it and then eats it. but if that person were to then proceed to rape an innocent person, no one would ever correlate those two things. because no one cares. but people care about furries. whether it’s to demonize them, or support them, or ridicule them, or fucking kill them, people care about the existence of furries. and news outlets know this, so whenever a furry does some weird shit, the media is going to make sure as many people as possible know about it, as well as the fact that the person is a furry that’s why we seem so much worse. because people go out of their way to make us seem worse

As someone who doesn't really care for furries like that, this is just heartbreaking and disgusting . . . I really do dislike the bad people in fandoms. It ruins it for everyone. Oh no. 😰🫵
Don't hate the fandom, hate the people who made it that way. And use that hate to drive being a better person. And if you don't like the fandom, you can still enjoy the thing yourself or with a few friends. With furry that's probably for the best and the safest way.
Its not the fandom thats at fault, its just some stupid people. But this doesn't mean that all furries are bad at all, literally every community/fandom has people like this
@@electrickery i think i'd rather hate the fandom. it gets the most point across because it takes bad people and good people doing nothing to get to this point.
@@Lunkie you got to stop with defense of not everyone is bad and trying to use other communities to look better. it doesn't add anything. a problem has to be dealt with no matter how small it is or perceived.
Someone told me a very valuable thing: it doesnt matter how much good a group does, there are guys who do something evil and it's a patch for the entire community. I had a chat with someone who also said that "creeps in furry fandom in the USA are not caused by the fact fandom supposedly harbors them, but the fact the number of creeps in the USA is very high". There is something in that statement, since I very rarely hear anything heinous in European furry fandom, with most of it being drama of not holding personal space boundaries at most.
that's how it goes. it eventually turns into a scar if left alone. i do find it a bit funny of the european fandom because the most toxic furry i seen was there but interact more with the usa side. It seems to be bad all the way through but obviously certain parts stand out more except maybe japan branch that i never ever heard of at all.
You very rarely hear anything about the European furry fandom because speaking up about it gets you banned from the events very quickly. Most of the creeps are involved in running things.
You highlighted the problems of the fandom without giving everyone the wrong idea about them or going on an unjustified tirade about how the community should be destroyed. And throughout all of it you maintained your professionalism. My hat is off to you.
Hhhh, there's so much drama within the furry fandom. But, I often avoid a lot of things as much as possible. A lot of negativity, people tend to focus on just the bad things that happened. I may be a pokemon furry myself, but I am not one who trusts anyone that I don't know. Sure, I might talk to them, but it's moreso to learn more about someone. I've met absolute creeps in the fandom which I have gone to immediately warn my family and my family's friends about them especially when they are anywhere near them or I had encountered them. In the end, it's all about the safety of everyone, it's all I care about and that people are having fun as well. If the fandom was nothing but a terrible place, I would have abandoned it years ago, but it's fun and safe, if you know where to go, most of the time. I'm just really happy with how this video spoke about the topic instead of rather taking sides or leaving open ends to assumptions that everyone in the community is the same, cause, in the end, we're all people of different places, backgrounds and interests within the same community. And people outside of the fandom, same thing with them.

Thanks for this. Remember, instead of using this information against the furry fandom, use it to be aware of the dangers of the fandom so you could avoid it and bring awareness to it:-0
that and people need to be more forward. if so many furries weren't so worried about reputations and impressing people, and being more forward about the flaws, then we wouldn't have the bad reputation issue. Like, if you're honest, and show the good AND bad, and discuss it, it both makes people more aware of the dangers of the internet as a whole, as well as the furry community, and it'd show that there isn't anything to hide.
This whole comment section is horrid. There’s people defending themselves because they’re innocent, others are defending the entire community and others are hating on them.
It’s basically the generic furry fandom comment section. I just applauded the RUclipsr for making this video because I’m sick of the “all furries are zoos” and “the furry fandom is doing great” and “kill all furries” and “I’m so sigma for saying this generic bullshit” excuses. I’m fricking tired of it. It’s so repetitive.
"Pelican" is the name applied to a series of tactical aerospace lifters operated by the UNSC Air Force, the UNSC Marine Corps, the UNSC Navy, corporate entities and the civilian security forces. The Pelican line entered service in 2392. The air frame of the Pelican allows them to carry heavy objects underneath their tail booms. Common carry items include an M12 Warthog, M808 Scorpion tank, troop deployment pods or resupply canisters. Pelicans receive serial numbers to be identified by during radio transmissions, particularly in combat situations. Each serial number consists of a letter from the Phonetic Alphabet followed by a number. Though a few Pelicans have this number inscribed on their cargo bays, most have no distinguishing mark on their exteriors.
The proportions are the same of any other fandom. But because it's such a big community (it's a fandom of a concept, not a show or game), the bad side appears bigger than any other fandom. It's sheer size.
Great video. I was a part of this "community" for 20 years. Was involved in organising events for a lot of that time. Gave up after the aftermath of the stuff you mentioned. There's one in the US who was and still is on several con's AV crews, outed in the Leaks, and the conventions he worked for doubled down and refused to take action or engage with the community. Furries just dismissed it and kept going to those cons. The only reason these people are in jail is because others collected the evidence and took it to the authorities. If it was left to furries - and I say that as someone who used to be one - this would have been covered up. Even today anyone talking about it is usually banned from furry chats. They call it "drama". It's a word they use to describe everything from petty fights to criminal acts. Everything has to be covered up to make the scene look good.

@@TBATG Thank you. I met some very nice people there and I consider myself lucky they are still my friends (maybe not if they see this post). It's all I can do, the furries won't police themselves. I used to think they could but after 10 years trying I knew I was treading water. It was destroying me. I still like the creativity and the art but so many of the good people left because they were either smeared or abused. Furry cons are very political inside, I saw lots of nepotism. I even saw staff talking openly about how they hate attendees (specific ones or all), wanted bad things to happen to them, or how they could do anything they liked because furries would just keep giving them money to go to the con and couldn't afford to sue them. we raised all of it but directors told us if we didn't like it we could quit. we tried to start a new con but the chairperson of the con we left called our venue and smeared us and threatened them, and badmouthed us to their attendees. we had to abandon it. and the furries we thought were our "friends" who'd come to the con and support us, just laughed and said they were going to go to the other con because everyone was going there and "they didn't go for the staff".

@@electrickery Well, I've been through a lot, such as being discriminated for being a mixed-breed specie humanoid being, that I feel like this life is just no longer living, in that I tried so hard to be an artist, as FurAffinity and DeviantArt straight up banned me for tracing artists' works, as I no longer see myself as a furry, or a furry artist, as I just feel and perceive myself, as putrid, grimy bacteria, that I want to die now, as I'm just straight up toxic to myself and everyone around me now.

You know, I greatly appreciate this video. I would like to say that as of recently there has been a large decrease in hate towards furries themselves as people now know who/what kind if people to avoid. Thanks to you and other content creators like you, you are genuinely helping us greatly by surfacing these prominent issues within the fandom. You did a great job on this video, and I only hope that it can influence more people to be aware of who to avoid when interacting with this fandom. The truth is that every single community has their bad apples. From furries, to bronies, to chess, to gaming, you name it. All communities have their bad apples, none of them are safe from it
The difference being is that in this case its the entire fucking fandom, every last one of them is disgusting.
true words 👍ty
I agree with that....and if the majority of the furry community was just sharing wholesome drawings and occasionally wearing a costume, I wouldn't mind including them in that grouping.
However, while *_all_* communities have their issues, the furry community seems to be predisposed to attracting perverse criminals.
That's the issue. Sure, there are speed runners that fake times, there are assholes in chess, etc. ....gr 00ming, SA of animals?
That's an entirely different thing.
Same thing with Bronies. It's a community that attracts kids and people that would like to victimize those kids.
Furrys are the worst
@@TheHibbitydibbitythere are people who are in the chess community and such who are sexual predators tho. you just don’t hear reporters saying “Chess player accused of three cases of statutory rape” cause people don’t care whether someone plays chess, or plays videogames or something. the furry community is one that people have been trying to demonize since it’s inception in the 80’s. you’re always going to hear when a furry is a predator or a criminal, because it’s something reporters think is worth pointing out.
no one’s gonna say “hot wheels collector accused of kidnapping and withholding 4 minors in his basement” or “elder scrolls 5: skyrim enthusiast accused of possessing child p*rn” cause no one cares about those details. it’s the same reason the sexuality/gender identity of queer people are always stated in a headline when one of them may commit a crime, even if their identity has nothing to do with the crime they committed. it’s gives people ammo to say “see? i told you those gays were all groomers” or “see? trans people ARE pedophiles. i was right”
the media doesn’t care about people. they will use whatever they can in a headline to get more clicks. and when you put, in your headline, that the person who committed any given crime was a “furry”, that’s gonna pull more people in.
it’s gonna pull furries in, cause they wanna see how bad this is gonna make the community look. it’s gonna anti-furs cause they wanna prove a point. and it’s gonna pull in people who don’t know what “furries” are, cause they’re curious to know what a furry is what what significance it holds to the case. Thus, more clicks and more ad revenue for whatever journalism outlet made the post.
Yes, every community has bad apples. but the furry community looks worse because people want to make us look worse. people care about the “abnormal traits” of a criminal, so as to try to parse out why someone may have done what they did. and being a furry is seen as “abnormal”. humans like to jump to conclusions, so when they hear that someone sexually assaulted an animal, and then they hear that the person was also apart of a strange subculture of people who are often scrutinized and looked down upon, the reader is going to assume that those two things directly correlate, because those two things are the two most defining things about the offender, and thus, must be connected somehow.
but it doesn’t always work that way. there could be a person who dips plums in a tub of vinegar, slices them open, drizzles them with olive oil and chocolate sauce and then sprinkles rabbit shit on it and then eats it. but if that person were to then proceed to rape an innocent person, no one would ever correlate those two things. because no one cares. but people care about furries. whether it’s to demonize them, or support them, or ridicule them, or fucking kill them, people care about the existence of furries. and news outlets know this, so whenever a furry does some weird shit, the media is going to make sure as many people as possible know about it, as well as the fact that the person is a furry
that’s why we seem so much worse. because people go out of their way to make us seem worse

Wait, that's actually a good statement!
that's how it goes. it eventually turns into a scar if left alone. i do find it a bit funny of the european fandom because the most toxic furry i seen was there but interact more with the usa side. It seems to be bad all the way through but obviously certain parts stand out more except maybe japan branch that i never ever heard of at all.

He literally said "while all these furrys are deranged and disturbing" at 21:05...

@@Brwigames That's...interesting.
Everyone says that every community has a good side and a bad side, but no one says in what proportion.
Just wish to not met any kind of negative people.

Man idk with furrys, like I have a friend that is a furry and he's a great friend, but I've had 3 friends that were furrys turn out to be pedos. also (this isnt really just for this community but whatever) I feel like when you're face is covered by a mask you are just a completely different person. right now my stance is if I see a furry I just won't talk to em so I guess a semi-neutral stance. (Also if you're sexually rping as characters from a kids show or in a kids game you're just weird)
The basics of it all is that theres horrible people among every fandom and that it isn't just the furry fandom that is like this
Very true. My company sent me to an IT conference about 10 years ago and they were warning people not to bring valuables downstairs. People were being pushed into the pool and obviously that ruined everything in their pockets. Nobody got warned or banned for pushing, they pushed it all on the victims... Thankfully some fandoms/spaces had scandals and vowed to improve. This year I went back and nobody got pushed.

@@include-bit its a big thing and panelists encourage it. watch some of the sam conway panels from anthrocon. it's almost religious, people are told to only tell the good about furry and encourage them to join
Something I love about this is that it expresses that not ALL furries should be hated, as a furry myself, just really the ones that are zoophiles and do...well, you know. Those people who do involve in those disgusting activities are not welcome into the furry/therian community. Some furries are good, kind, and ALL of us hate people who do those type of actions.
Just remember that hating on someone for liking anthromorphic animals and does NOT involve with the actions displayed in the video is wrong.
It's just the zoophiles and the others that participate in actions such as those.
And people do need to recognize that the furry community is NOT the only community that have these horrible people in it.
Making a zoo acceptance community is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. NO. They should not be accepted by any means for doing that, and they never will.
My thing is why was sappho confessing like being a zoophile is a totally normal thing and everyone was going to celebrate her for her bravery. She was acting like it was okay to say she was a zoophile like someone would do if they're telling people they were gay.
she had such confidence that its actually scary how much confidence she had. like its wild

Idk what the hell she was thinking; the backlash was immediate and enourmous.
@@FoxSullivanas it should be. I'm not a furry myself, but I play VRChat I have a LOT of furry friends and I'd know all of them were disgusted with Sappho when I mentioned it if they didn't know about it already, people like her are why people hate furries in general, it's the reason I had a negative opinion about furries before I started playing VRChat and met most of my friends
This is something that seems to be very common among both zoos and pedos. It's so gross that I've had to block immediately multiple people who have it in their bios EVERYWHERE. They fully believe they're not mentally ill and that they're persecuted. It's actually disgusting.

A lot of furries are autistic, so unfortunately, they're susceptible to manipulation. Tons of furries are also just VERY kind people in general. I've done commission work for many furries who've tipped me generously

I've been a furry for 6 years and so happy I never really got into the fandom, apart from drawing for myself and commissioning a safe artist once when I was 16 💀. I've never really talked to other furries, but a few weeks ago I ran into an old friend who talked to me about it. While I do question myself whether I'm a furry because of this vid, and even if I am one, I hardly join any fandom since I can control myself for not going over the limit. I don't go wearing costumes nor join VRChats, but would share some OC characters if possible with respect.
