Payno and Tins are joined by a heartbroken Shane Horgan as his Leinster fell at the final hurdle again in defeat to La Rochelle on home soil. Payno declares that Ronan O’Gara is living rent-free in D4 and Shane tells a touching story of some La Rochelle/ROG fans in the stands.
While Ronan might be the most sought-after coach in the world right now… the question is, where will his next move be to?
We’re also joined in the studio by the Premiership trophy & its CEO Simon Massie-Taylor to take stock of the season that was and find out what might be in store this weekend and beyond.

Been following your channel for a while now, Shane Horgan is allways a joy to listen to. One of the most enjoyable Rugby Channel around and, as a french rugby fan, lots of insights in Uk and Irish rugby. Cheers and commiseration to Shane.

I was at the Wasps Toulouse final. Everyone around me was a Toulouse supporter with a Munster accent. Bought the tickets too soon boys? The final try was incredible and I literally feel two rows forwards with my beer as I cheered.
The best bit was my wife and I went down from Scotland the night before so we had all of baggage with us to go to a mates that night after the game. We were at the Twickenham turnstiles and she was stopped to be searched by security while I got through. She had the hairdryer, make up, tongs and extras so the security check took ages. I stood on the other side as we were early … so I just went on my phone and waited. Without looking up I heard our turnstile go and shouted “Over here sweetheart!” … only to see it was Sean Edwards!!! No lie, honestly. He looked at me and scowled. I shat it. No idea why he was coming through the turnstiles and still wonder … maybe just cos it was early. But it was a moment when the world stopped for me lol. “Over here sweetheart” … OMAG

Just one comment on the production front. I think it’s great that Shane had his own microphone. It makes such a difference when the guest has got good audio. If I was editing this show I’d be delighted.
Every pod these days has proper audio for the hosts but most rely on the guests AirPods or some even with the phone.
    👌🏻

Have to say, so much better without Haskell. Really heartfelt and insightful content from Shane and intelligent content from Massie-Taylor. I suspect Finds wanted to have a bit more of a go but fair play to everyone you kept it tight. Best show for a while and especially after last weeks lol....

Leinster need to take some inspiration and solace from the national team's history with NZ. There was a time when they had a screw in their heads about playing the All Blacks and as a result they would always implode, even on those ocasions when they led for most of the match. However, they did eventually get that monkey off their collective back and since then they have been able to beat them several times, including a series win in NZ.

I know how you feel, Shane. I had the same sick-to-my-stomach feeling for a month after France lost the 2011 RWC final. At least you can console yourself that the (marginally) better team won last weekend, as opposed to be absolutely robbed by the refereeing (or absence thereof). Leinster will be back. They're too good a team not to be.

You know what other job ROG could do, if Ireland / Oz / England don't snatch him up? France! I mean, Galthie will move on at some stage, ROG is massively successful, knows all of the French players from coaching them or against them week in / week out, he lives in France and speaks the language.

    • @zisssssou
      @zisssssou Год назад

I have to agree. And i think there is a great analogy in term of personality between O'Gara and Galthié. They are "winners", have a very competitive mentality and they are not always appreciated by Rugby intelligentia. That said, It seems O'Connell would be the favorite for Ireland job. Galthié is the fav to his own "succession"

Yes but no. I don't even think there would be consensus at FFR to take a complete outsider to the national system. Nor there is any need for that, right now.
He wants Ireland. And Munster. I doubt he would take another French club after what's happening with LaR. Perhaps a southern hemisphere team or even a team in Japan ?

i think its a bigger story or indication of the feeling in the camp for Tipuric to have retired at 93 caps just 7 short of a century. I dont know of any player who would retire just short of a century if it werent for a career ending injury.

ROG to team up again with Razor in the AB’s? Probably not, but that would be a delightful combo (again). Would supercharge him also for the big gig eventually with Ireland.

I'm sorry but Sweeney and Massie-Taylor need to be binned pronto. How the hell they're still there is beyond me. Both were asleep at the wheel and neither has the presence or gravitas to inspire confidence going forward. Same goes for Conor O'Shea who was just EJ's poodle frankly, but was meant to be his boss. Absolute feckless incompetence from start to finish. Easy being comm director for the Olympics as the fact that it's the Olympics does a lot of the heavy lifting and all you're negotiating for is how much. Bit more difficult organising a whole league for a minority sport that needs to convince people to watch.

If irish go under I’m not watching premiership rugby next year. I’m not paying for a ticket I’m not buying any merchandise, I’m not giving it the time of day. This sport is dying the rfu and prem rugby haven’t got a clue. The way players and fans are treated is a joke. Rugby is dying thanks to the sport being unable to get its elitist head out the ground

It's not wrong. Aldritt said no eye contact at first which was confirmed by ROG in the post-game press conference who said he had spoken with Aldritt. Only after the pictures came out from the media clearly showed Ryan making eye contact at the coin toss, did the story miraculously change to blaming the translator and saying he was eyeballing Aldritt! It was pathetic stuff to be frank and made them bad winners imho.
