This was the park where I worked back in 1989-90-ish selling hot dogs & pizza. I’ll never forget meeting George Lucas right outside Star Tours before it opened. Whenever I visit it’s like stepping back in time.
Star Tours....! Yes, that's the one I was trying to remember. Got some fabulous Kodak 110 pictures of all the interesting things to look at as you slinky-ed your way through the line.
During my first visit to WDW we visited Disney MGM & took the backlot tour. We purchased a few hand-painted cels produced during the tour. I still love them as they hang in my home today. I miss the tour and learning about the magic of the movie process & how things were done. thanks for bringing us along for the adventure today!
The old MGM days were so amazing to me. Seeing the honey I shrunk the kids show were you could ride on that bee was mesmerizing to me! I really miss that osborne lights too!
It sucks that the MGM theming went away. So many great, historic properties. I went there before they turned into Hollywood Studios and it was honestly the most memorable place at Disney World by far.
Thanks for featuring the Lose-It app…I’m also on a fitness journey and it’s a nice tool to track progress. I tell my wife I’m “Woosing weight with The Woo”! I know, bad Dad joke!
Happily retired, I start my days with a piping hot caffeinated beverage and wait for the latest Adam the Woo video. Thank you, Adam, for all that you do!!
The Mickey Mouse Club was my favorite show ever back in the day. Got to attend a taping at the studios in 1993 and it was incredible. So sad how everything that made that park amazing is gone now. ❤
Absolutely love seeing any relics of Who Framed Roger Rabbit...thanks Woo you always show such rad stuff. The piano scence with daffy and Donald is so comical.😂
@@TheDailyWoointeresting...I wonder if the Rodger Rabbit Siloutte on the window ( Broken Out) is the actual filming location from that movie? Or is it just a prop??
Loved this visit of the original MGM! We went in 1991 when I was 12 and I had completely forgotten that my Dad was in the Lucy chocolate scene until you started talking about the Super Star theater! Thank you!!
We were here in 1990 and 94, loved the Park at that time. They had active productions going on, I remember being able to watch the Animators drawing Cells, Backstage Tour was great.
I worked at the Yacht & Beach club Resort back in 2007, and Disney MGM Studios was my second favorite right behind Epcot. Also the fact they're so close together is awesome!
"Despite all my rage..." omg...hahahaha... Ok, LOVED this video today sir, and how you took the time to explain all the details you could from all the photos I wish I had the time to explore. I was on the Disney play app yesterday while waiting in lines at Disneyland answering a bunch of trivia questions on the parks and I realized I learned a LOT of my info about WDW just from watching your channel. :) Sigh... The Great Movie Ride is the greatest love letter to the movies ride that ever was or will be, and I deeply regret never ever getting a chance to experience that myself. I'm borrowing Nicole Kidman's AMC promo line today..."Heartbreak feels good in a place like this..." 💚 cheers
That’s a great line . Honestly pulling great movie ride out was a tragedy . Yes I know the reasons and whatnot but truly the death of the original vision
Really cool to see where the old Radio Station was. In my teens I started out my radio career being a board op every Saturday night for Mike Harvey's Supergold that he would do live from that studio. In the earlier 90s I was invited to tour the radio studios and meet Mike Harvey and got to watch him do a few live breaks. It was something I'll never forget.
MGM Studios was my favourite park as well , loved the Osbourn family Christmas lights, when they were on the houses so magical, then when they changed to the dancing lights , I liked them but not as magical , you took me back to my younger days when I was able to go to Florida, I saw all the shows you mentioned and the backlot tour and I even saw the Great Movie Ride at it's prime , I saw the Footlight parade working with the water , I only saw it once , then when I went again it had stopped moving , thank you for showing this , when you show the Theme Parks you take me back in time to happier times , Thank You .
As a former cast member of this park I’m obligated to remind you it’s the DISNEY- MGM Studios. (We were told to remind guests when they forget to say “Disney”)
I absolutely loved your look back to Disney MGM Studios! I miss it so much. The Osbourne lights were amazing!! I pray they keep some of the retro items you showed. Thanks for a great video! 👍👏

Definitely my most nostalgic park. Being we are the same age it most have been our era that really enjoyed it. Late teens during its opening when the 90’s really had a great change in tv and movies.
I remember it as MGM, never been there since it was just Hollywood. We went to see the Osbourne family lights one Christmas where they gave you glasses to wear that made the lights look like angels. I still have 2 pair and I use them when I go to view Christmas displays locally.
You are definitely not alone - Hollywood Studios has always been my favourite, and now we have brought the kids since 2019 and they immediately deemed it their favourite as well. All we can do is enjoy the past and keep looking towards what they will do next!
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU DID IT! I thought there was Nothing I could be sentimental about at Disney World. but, when you started talking about strolling down residential street with the Osborne Family Lights, I started thinking of the times my girls were little and we looked forward to seeing that Every Year! got all choked up. 🙂 Also, when we were there in 93, I KNOW there was a theater there, next to the Brown Derby, before they had that street that goes to Tower of Terror. that was the original location for the Beauty and the Beast, before they built the permanent theater.
I got to see them once with my fiance, who is still my good friend. I surprised him with the tickets for Christmas in 2014. These are among my favorite memories.🏰
Sandy Duncan does not have a glass eye, but she had a tumor removed from behind her left eye, which caused her to lose the sight in that eye. Surgeons were going to remove it, but didn't, because her sightless eye tracked with the sighted eye.
Adam, great vlog! Brought back many happy memories, My favorite ride was The Great Movie Ride which I would ride thru 2x during day, just lived the memories that it captured. I had my granddaughter with me and we would shop in the stores for Disney wares using our DISNEY DOLLARS. Glad I saved a lot, tho I did sell some on eBay,. Did you shop with them? Yes, the years have flown, especially since the curse, Covid. Also, one of my favorite places was the first store all the way to the left when you enter the park.. They showed/sold Hollywood memorabilia, pictures, postcards, old pins, some stars shirt or sunglasses. I would always buy something, Not as good anymore. Can’t remember from last year if it’s still there. Disney should pay you for all the information you provide, FANTASTIC, ❤️🙏🏽
Definitely my most nostalgic park. Being we are the same age it must have been our era that really enjoyed it. Late teens during its opening when the 90’s really had a great change in tv and movies.
Adam, really enjoyed your awesome video with all the awesome things on the walls at the start of your video! Thank you for taking me along with you as you go through Disney MGM! I love Mickey and all the gang! Looking forward to your next vlog.
Reading through the comments of people’s early experiences reminded me of my first trip to Disney in 2011….HS brought a Hollywood nostalgia that felt like an era that Walt Disney himself had a presence….I honestly was so moved by the theming at this park , and it was definitely my 2nd favorite, I got to visit again in 2016 , and shortly after it was announced that the Great Movie Ride was going to be reinvented, and I was sad . I felt that ride represented an era that shouldn’t be lost 😞. I’ve also been disappointed again by splash mountain, I love princess and the frog but brair rabbit is so classic …Thank you Adam for keeping this nostalgia alive through your experiences and the amount of research you do for your videos , no one vlogs this detailed for Disney or any of your journeys ❤ from TX
MGM was my favorite too. The Great Movie Ride and the Backlot Tour were the best. I also loved the Monster Sound Show. I love seeing how things are made. I also miss star wars weekends. A Jawa stole my camera and walked around taking pictures of tourist and making them pose lol it was so funny. Also the Star wars dance off was amazing. I would love for them to bring that back.
I miss The Great Movie Ride and The Streets of America so much!! I was devastated when The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights were retired.😭 I’m thankful to have the memories from being there on closing night. Now we just do our own version of dancing lights on our own home! You should stop by for our Halloween and Christmas displays Adam! We are in St Cloud and live just up the road from your parents.
Yeah Miss the old MGM studios great video Adam! Will never forget the great movie ride that first alien scene was scary back in the day when it came down from the ceiling but I was only 10 at the time
This has got to be one of my favorite videos of yours. Fantastic look at the park. I’m surprised they never built a Roger Rabbit ride at the park. There’s still time!! Honestly, with all the Dick Tracy hype and merch and such out in the world, I’m amazed it didn’t get a ride. THERES STILL TIME!!
I had a picture of my 2 kids in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids section. but its all about today kids, somethings they wouldn't understand. great video Adam 😎
I was born in 1986, so being a child of the 90’s I felt as though I grew up alongside this park. Seeing some of the old remnants of what once was is a very bittersweet feeling.
This was so cool I have vivid memories of walking thru the animation bldg and watching the animators thru the window and actually working at their animators desk
I miss the Studio backlot tour. I really looked forward to that when I first went to HS. And thanks for calling out the Roger Rabbit items still left-under appreciated Disney flick-one of my faves.
Spectacle of Dancing Lights! I miss that Christmas light show so much. I got to work some of the last shifts and I was really sad when they announced they were taking it away. -- Studios used to be my favorite as well.
Unfortunately our last few years didn’t feel like they flew by at the time, we had so many lockdowns in Aus it wasn’t funny, but I want to thank you for helping keep us sane with your videos during that time. You have no idea how much you helped our sanity ❤❤
How you feel about MGM Studios is how I feel about Universal Studios Orlando. That said, I certainly have many fond memories of MGM growing up and, until recently, I was still calling it MGM as well. My wife and I are passholders for Disney and Universal and we try to go as often as possible. There's nothing like a great, relaxing theme park day to press the "reset" button. Loved reliving vintage MGM in this video!
One time I was the only guest on the tramtour because I skipped fantsmic. I was sitting in the front car with the guide and they were testing the Osborne lights. It was so magical because normally the trams wouldn’t ride when the lights were on. After the ride I was alone walking to the exit. Loved the old Studios with earfell tour, tram tour and the great movie ride. Miss them all 😊
Miss so much of the original MGM loved backlog tour the earful tower great movie ride Osbourne lights we still call it MGM studios. We also miss the honey I shrunk the kids play area we have so many amazing photos from that area and the entire Roger rabbit area we used to get photos with the chalk outline so many awesome memories Dec 1996 was my first time at MGM
Yes, time does go faster but the last 3 out of the 4 years flew by. When I refer to how long ago something happened I have to add 3 years. Weird!!!! I LOVE your last shot with the sky liners going by Infront of the fireworks! BEAUTIFUL!!
I still call it MGM to this day because I’m stubborn. Great Movie Ride and Studio Backlot Tour were both at the top of my favorite rides list in all of Disney. I appreciate your love for what once was.
Great video and info on MGM Studios! Your firsthand knowledge is very helpful and interesting! I was only able to ride the Great Movie Ride once in the summer of 2011, but I remember it fondly!
Thanks for all the info in this video Adam! The one and only time I’ve ever been there it was Hollywood MGM Studios. That was 1995. I remember the citizens of Hollywood very well! They were great! Great video!
The Christmas light show was the Osborne Family Dazzling Light show. From what I remember, they bought the lights from a house's Christmas display, and that is what the show was, and it was coordinated with the music too. I miss that, and the Great Movie Ride as well.
I really miss the old Disney/ MGM Studios. I fully enjoyed the backlot tour and the Honey I Shrunk The Kids playground. I loved climbing through that stuff with my girls when they were younger.
Time does fly, I was a cast member while in college in the Magic Kingdom starting in 1979 and worked in Tomorrowland. Ended up as testing and opening crew at ECOPT. Things at Disney are totally different.
It was my favorite park in the 90's too! I got to play Lucy a few times and road on the bee! Plus it started my fascination with foley and sound engineering.
Star tours was open in January 1990! Actually I thought it opened in MGM December 1989. It’s was our first trip to WDW and MGM was our first park. I still have my souvenir book from opening year. Such great memories 😊 great vlog. Thank you!
I still, once in a while say MGM without thinking. It truly was, in 89- 92 my all time favorite park. The animation building was the most fascinating to me. I do agree that what was taken out of the park was necessary mostly because of the break from MGM. Not only that; but I think it’s true, like you said, a lot of what was there wouldn’t get the reaction now needed to sustain the park. It will, however be missed by many of us. RIP, Great Movie Ride❤
I remember the SoundSations booths, I absolutely LOVED them. Wasn't until recently I discovered ASMR and realised why I loved it so much! Would always force my dad to take me in there
I miss the old Studios, too. I loved the Streets of America and the Citizens of Hollywood! Years later, we would find them on RUclips and watch when we needed a Disney fix. On one visit, I was chosen to play Lucy Ricardo in the scene from the show when she was working in a candy factory. My son and I were picked to ride the big bee from Honey I Shrunk the Kids. It is a different park.
This was the park where I worked back in 1989-90-ish selling hot dogs & pizza. I’ll never forget meeting George Lucas right outside Star Tours before it opened. Whenever I visit it’s like stepping back in time.
That’s the coolest thing man . I feel the same thing when I go there . Immediately back to the 90s
Star Tours....! Yes, that's the one I was trying to remember. Got some fabulous Kodak 110 pictures of all the interesting things to look at as you slinky-ed your way through the line.
Definitely miss the Osborne Family Spectacular of Dancing Lights, great memories.

I was a big fan of the MMC around then and would have loved that!! We visited in 91 but the show was on hiatus when we were there.
I know I remember watching a young Brittany spears and Justin Timberlake on that show when I was a little kid with my sisters.
So glad you brought up MMC, that was such a great show. I visited MGM when they were taping the show but did not get to attend the live show. :-(
It was a treat to meet you at MGM (Hollywood Studios) on Monday. I was at MGM on May 1st 1989 and met Bob Hope on that day!

Every city in America has seen lots of change in 35 years. Disney Studios is no exception.
Loved the vlog as always! Also It started with a car horn beeping and almost ended with a car horn beeping! 😀
Can’t imagine how many t shirts you actually own. It’s crazy that you have an appropriate one for every day!
Was great to meet you yesterday Adam! Loved the original MGM as well..... Star of the Day parade!
Great video! Love the nostalgic look back at old MGM Studio's!
Man, I really miss the Great Movie ride. It's still one of my favorite dark rides ever.
Me too! It was one of my favourite rides, and also had one of the shortest lines… so it was good to go in to escape the heat!
I feel the exact same way, Adam ❤ MGM studios was my first Disney park I ever visited as a kid and I’m so glad that I got to see it in its heyday! 🙏🏻
What a nostalgic video! So informative, thank you Adam!
I really miss the old Disney/ MGM Studios. I fully enjoyed the backlot tour and the Honey I Shrunk The Kids playground. I loved climbing through that stuff with my girls when they were younger.
@15:35 I'll never forget the Animation Building tour!! Actual Disney Animators animating in front of your own eyes!! Good times!
Loved this vlog! I still call it Disney MGM Studios ✨
No you are right. The last 4 years went super fast. I just can't believe it!
Would always force my dad to take me in there
Great video with the nostalgia Adam! Thank you :) I miss the old MGM too :(
I miss the old Studios, too.
Well done Video Adam. This takes me back to some good times with the family going to Disney MGM
