The 4 minute outro on this is a masterpiece in itself. The way all the instruments melt together in a river of emotions is just unbelievable. Johnny Marr absolutely perfect.
Rest in Peace brother. Thank you for giving us so much. You brought light to some of the darkest days of my life (and so many others). When I was kicking methadone in a rehab in Costa Mesa Ca in 2012 this song saved me over and over again. It still does. Thank you falls way short; the gratitude is endless. May you soar, unbound… 🖤🐭🖤✨✨✨
Rest easy and pain free Jeremiah. Feeling grateful I got to see the band 5 times in person. This song makes me think of you and Joe playing in unison. Thank you for the memories!
Such a tragedy to lose a man at only 45, he was only 12 years older than myself. His legacy will live on with us fans, if only I got to see them more than once
I think the most tragic aspect of this loss is the fact that once Isaac decides to stop, there won't ever be another group of artists that will ever sound like them again. No cover band would ever be able to capture the magic of these guys working together.
I cant really express how much modest mouse made my days for so many years. Started when I was 12, it's 34 now, and will be 74 then if all goes well. Thanks guys for making me bounce, cry, laugh and just be messed up so much on my way so far. It's a fucking blast if I have you around, either on my laptop or my phone, or sometime just my drunk singing. Loving you! Greets from Germany
@@ZappaCrane OP is definitely right. Why would they need directions if they've been there before? The context of the song supports the other guy. The damned know how to get to hell because they've been there though, not whoever the song is addressing.
I feel like "If you truly knew the gravity, you'd know which way to go" is even more clever because I JUST got that it meant "go to hell" after listening to it for 15 years. 😅
I thought the same but this visualizer was just uploaded last year. For a more niche song that isn't a lead from an album for an indie band. Granted MM are THE indie band it's still a decent response. The upload from it off the album with just the album art is 8 years old and has 1.8m views. Still miles short of what this masterpiece deserves but at least better. Not a lot of songs can be 8 minutes long and not feel like they over stay their welcome but Modest Mouse always deliver.
8 min + songs tend not to have the viewer numbers. I takes a real fan of either the band or the music for peoples attention spans now a days. To be fair though, even back when radio was king they limited songs to 4 minutes, 5 in rare cases.
This band is unbelievably creative. Genius. This song has to be one of the best of what it is. I'm not sure what it is but I know I live there. Or here. You know, where this is. Seriously, this is where it's at. At where it is. I love you.
I saw you guys do this in Chicago at Riot Fest as an encore after much of the crowd had already left. There were only like 100-200 people left, standing around sort of milling about when you guys came back and asked what you should play. I shouted Spitting Venom as loud as I could and then when I heard that first A Minor come out it was like magic... Can't wait to see you again.... Some day!
@Trey Cain it was a wonderful moment. I don't know if they could even see the crowd with all the lighting on that stage, but because Snoop Dogg who played before them was almost an hour late, I guess everyone thought there would be no encore because of curfew. Seriously, snoop pushed the entire festival back by one hour so Modest Mouse who played last right after Snoop had to start an hour late. They tried cutting Snoops time but he sent people to the sound booth to make sure they wouldn't cut him off. So everyone just kinda left after they finished their set and I'm so lucky I stuck around. Don't be jealous tho, because I was pretty strung out at the time and while I'll always remember feeling like a cloud melting into a puddle while Modest Mouse was performing right in front of me, I would very much do it completely differently if I could go back in time. Yeah I got a cool memory but holy shit would I rather be sober! Clean around 7ish years now.
Yeah the snoop things unfortunate but Hell yeah man congrats! I totally get that tho there is alot of things I've wished I was sober for too none the less a awesome memory!
Almost same thing happened to me with Built to Spill at a festival in the everglades way back in like 08'. their stage was so far from the venue and it was thru swampy fire ants but when me and my friend got there there was only like 100 people and they just melted faces. we were the lucky ones bc a storm came in that night and NE spring break and beast boys headline, never been but f*ck most NE fans with their shit taste in music,@@PassingNotesMusic
Spitting Venom is such a dope song. It's always sweet to hear some creative good music. Keep pumping them out guys. Listening to your music has inspired me so much in this lifetime. Hopefully I could carry it with me though many more lifetimes as well.
I always have to play this on loop several times when I re-discover it every few years, there's so much going on with it just on an instrumental arrangement level.
Awesome to finally be getting official Modest Mouse RUclips posts for proper artists' support of your albums! Hope to see a retoast of the Good News for People Who Love Bad News album. That is still one of my(if not my #1) favorites from any band around. We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank is second to that special category though, and I really appreciate making these posts. The fact that it's not got millions of views is my comfort as God imagine liking the music the masses like. Its what makes true music fans different. Peace out love to all
I love the crescendo in Spitting Venom, and the riff near the end, not to mention the trumpets and glorious conclusion! It's my favorite where of course Dashboard started me in in 2009. 'Florida' and 'Etc. Nough' are also awesome. If I had known Bitcoin was trustworthy right then I would have had my favorite music and money in my pockets and the last 15 years might have been less hard, but always worth it..lol

Did he pass this year? Is that the front man? I listen to them quit a bit but I've never followed the band sii i don't really know any of their names.

OOOOOOO when the trumpet hits....
My 5 year old daughters favorite part. Play this song everytime we get in the car and i just love to see her bobbing the whole time.
I used to play trumpet(bc I couldn’t decide which instrument to stick with) many moons ago…when that part hits it makes me miss playing music period

What a banger
Last Frost
If you were on the side
Foglines and foxtails
Sweat and stale
Youd appreciate what little you've got now
If you were wishing and wanting
Falling asleep on the side
Forgetting what you have
Without
Youd appreciate just a little more
Appreciate enough to muster some movement in the right direction
Seeing the path
If you were walking with your thumb out
Appreciating what seems little now
Unique artist thank you.
It seems to me that every day turns out to be a little bit more like Bartowski.
First time listener. Great tune.
That crescendo tells all. It's like, "There's so much more! Just check this out!"

I rate it hard

MM created their own sound! I dig their sound. The majority of musicians are not so creative, and resort to a genre which is very boring!
