Agreed. Like makele, niggolo kante they make the tackle. Gilberto had this style which I dubbed the shadow marking. He didnt try to make the tackle just play his position to make sure the opposing player couldn't pass.

What an amazing player, I saw him play when he came to Greece for Panathinaikos, he played several years here and he was loved by fans of all teams, very underated, for a Brazilian captain.
Criminally underrated alongside people like Lauren who were quietly world class at the roles they played in those great teams
At first we sign him after world cup, i thought we just sign a brazilian who cant dribble. Ridiculous. But after that, he become one of our best player. If he dont play i dont feel confidence.

The invincibles got broken up too quickly, even if Henry and Vieira wanted new challenges players like Gilberto, Freddie, Lauren, Big Sol, Edu all left in their early 30s if that and it all went downhill pretty quickly
Wenger should have kept all those guys and tried to bring in one or two superstars plus blood some youth instead of ripping it all up and starting again

Nah I'd think ud should remember that Gilberto stayed on a bit longer. Edu left first mainly cos Gilberto himself took his position. Then Vieira and Henry wanted a CL medal, as for Kanu, Lauren, Ljungberg it was time to move on. Sol Campbell time was highly publicised, although he like Henry had a second homecoming years later. Only Gilberto stayed and I reckon he should actually stayed atleast 1 more year as we had young squad especially the midfield in Fabregas, Flamini and Hleb, Rosicky, Diaby and Song.
I can remember Martin keown saying he would drop everything if arsenal called him to help out and he would be the perfect person to help organised and learn the defenders a few things.
He was so underatted such a class player hey wish arsenal can bring players like this again what a team it was
