      @@RealistGunner not the greateat on the ball? He was brilliant on the ball, great ofensively, played in midfield for mallorca earlier and for portsmouth after arsenal, for the cameroon national team too (even for arsenal sometimes in earlier seasons). For me he was better attacking wise, than defensively, much better.

    One of the most overlooked right backs in history. He was a tank and played a big part in the best Arsenal side ever. An unsung hero that deserves more appreciation. People say Gary Neville when talking about best right back in PL history just because he's English and he spent a long time at the league while when it comes to pound for pound Lauren is one of multiple RBs that are miles better.

    A little reminder of how quick Thierry Henry was - Back in and around 2001/2003 he ran a top speed of 39.2km/h - in a match vs Newcastle worked out during Skysports first half analysis. Which is a faster top speed than the current record holder Leroy Sane has at 35.48km/h. Sane's record is the quickest sprint recorded in the Premier League since such data were first recorded in 2013/14. Funnily enough whenever I see Sane sprinting it reminds me of Thierry Henry, they both have/had that effortless ability to glide across the pitch.

    • @stuartcooper3261
      @stuartcooper3261 5 лет назад +2

      I also think Lauren forgot about how fast Toure was when he got going. Also if he mentioned squad players like Pennant he forgot about Quincy - he was incredibly fast.

    • @mashwork6615
      @mashwork6615 5 лет назад +6

      Plus Henry hit top speed very quickly. His acceleration was ridiculous. Mbappe is probably the most similar and Henry has like 3 or 4 inches on him.

    • @gladiatorscoops
      @gladiatorscoops 5 лет назад +1

      @@mashwork6615 Yeh Mbappe looks so similar to TT when he goes past the last man and finishes. Although Mbappe is a very strange sprinter - he could get faster if he sorted out his sprinting technique.

    • @DJObiSmalls
      @DJObiSmalls 5 лет назад +5

      Henry's glide was helped by his lanky legs... and this was probably his most formidable weapon. Till this day, I'm yet to see anyone master that dribble style. Literally, you can make thousands of minutes showing Henry doing that little controlled teasing dribble, and then in an instant, he knocks the ball ahead of him and outpaces his opponent by his long strides. It was artistry. Funny enough, I got to see it more during his time at Barca as he wasn't given a free role as he was offered by Arsene Wenger. He was just magical.

    • @gladiatorscoops
      @gladiatorscoops 5 лет назад

      @@DJObiSmalls I know the exact move you are talking about dude! - I got to see him in the last season of Highbury and he did the exact same thing to get past a player on the wing - and there was audible gasps and superlatives by people in the crowd stunned by his turn of speed. I used to try and do the same thing when I played footy being pretty quick myself - goad the player in and knock it into the space and go past them.

For sure imagine all these invisibles who were strong mentally, physically and skillful at the same time, you couldn’t mess with any one of them and that’s why I was never surprised when they went on to create their own legacy. These days we have mediocre kind of players who can’t fight for the ball. Hopefully Unai Emery’s team will change and be strong in all aspects.
