Some of these look pretty cool but the PSP is still a really great emulation handheld and you can get them for pretty cheap, all things considered. I do like the look of the one in the video though. Looks pretty comfortable.
Got the clear black and love it! Some Dreamcast games like DOA2 don't run great but there a ton of them that do run great. The ergonomics are so good and feels just like an old Saturn controller imo. Love it! Fighters are amazeballz on it!
Looks like a pretty decent handheld! Love these reviews cause it always gives me ideas on what I should buy in the future with you trying it already for us and giving us your honest opinion. Thanks!
@jamesforward6965 it's a fact that it doesn't though, it's been tested and proven and also commented on by the emu developers. As much as I like madlittlepixel that's the problem with a lot of his reviews, he just says stuff that he assumes and then people buy that stuff based on what he's said.
@jamesforward6965 sorry I completely misunderstood your first comment, that's my bad. It's the cpu that's mostly holding it back so the extra ram in linux doesn't help much but a lot of the emus just run better anyway because they're just optimized better. For this specific handheld, the extra ram is literally only for the android os itself.
Definitely going to be buying one of these when I can. Anbernic has been my go to chinese handheld for a while now (many years) and this one looks to be a good replacement for my last. I love my multi 8bitdo M30 controllers (so good, I had to buy more, lol), and this looks like it will have the 'feels' in my hand that I'm looking for! Shame the Clear Blue (the one I want) doesn't come in the model with android and more ram. Pop one of these and my analogue pocket in a bag (with maybe a switch lite) - and I'm set for whatever the world brings wherever I go. 🤟
Great for Sega Genesis, Master System, arcade games and fighting games but will be iffy with 3D games as there are no analog sticks. If I get the ARC-D it would only be for more powerful stuff like Dreamcast, N64, PS1, PSP, DOS, and Saturn, if I get the ARC-S then it'll be for anything PS1 or weaker such a Sega Genesis, Super NES, NeoGeo, 3DO, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Game Boy, GBC, GBA, Game Gear, Lynx, Intellivision, Atari Jaguar, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, etc..
I ordered mine 3 days ago in Aliexpress. I went for the transparent black (just linux system). I love fighting games so I think this is the one. And 4 inch screen I think is the perfect size for a retro handheld.
Hey bro does either model work well connected to a TV and bluetooth controllers? I really just want a portable device to play my fighting games, big ones are MvsC2, Third strike, you know the saturn , naomi and dreamcast stuff pretty much. I have a retroid pocket 2 and a steamdeck but on the retroid bluetooth controllers dont work while using retroid os and on steamdeck using emulation station or whatever it's just a nightmare for me to get the button mappings to work like they should in the arcades and home gamepads. If either of these devices work well with like an 8bit do M30 and a nice front end emulator OS connected to a TV that's all I really want!
How is performance in thrid strike on the arc s compared to arc d ? I don't care about slower movement in the UI as long as performance in the games is fine.
Can you pleasee do an updated quick video with the custom firmware for the RG Arc, people are saying good things about it, but we need some actual videos with updated impressions! Thx
An interesting video. I pretty much said everything I wanted to say about the Arc in the comments of the Arc D video. TL; DR: I love the controls and Sega-ness of it. I just wish it had a little more power; and maybe an analog input for Dreamcast and those Saturn games that supported the 3D controller. I checked out Go Game Geek after this video wrapped. Their storefront is very professional looking. Pricing is a bit higher than ordering it from the factory; but, I presume you're getting faster shipping and better customer service if needed. Has anyone ordered from them; and if so, did everything go well?
It sure is tantalizing to have a handheld already setup rocking what looks like quality emulation of Dreamcast/Naomi/Atomis/Saturn all in one. (As well as the other cores). PSP emulation there reminds me of the performance on PS classic; choppy, not very optimized.
Imo it has great everything but the dpad is not so good as it seems. I screw up simple turbo combos because its so flawed. Gra ted i prefer joystick above all but played also on Saturn the collection i can do them no problem there even sorry if you dont agree but the dpad to me isnt as good as it looks.
I've actually got a collection of these types of systems going. I got the Ambernic 405m, the 353p, 353ps, Gameboy style versions. Some have different ROMs on board. But none have some of theunusual titles I was looking for...Like BUG 🪲🐛 and BUG Too 🪲🐛 on 🪐 Saturn, or Rollaway 🏀 on PS1 (old staple household games) or Saturn 🪐 Pinball (Gladiator) Tempest 2000...I'd come from work on a Friday and find my Brothers and my Dad both playing SNES Mario 3, F Zero, PS1 RollAway 🏀, SS Pinball, Tempest 2000 into thr late night early morning. Until the game 🎮 consoles were slags of molten plastic in the entertainment center!!!! 😂 Those were the days....PC gaming and a LAN ruined that... Especially when Command and Conquer series showed up...One night, I destroyed my dad's aspersions as elite general and curb 🦶 stomped his army 🪖🎖️ into the afterlife ☠️💀! Unfortunately my dad felt less like playing 2 player games after that competitive run... 😢 😂
I'm not sure how "cheap" this handheld is. It's actually one of the more expensive ones. As for the difference in resources (ram, processor, etc) between the D and S, the additional resources on the D are only available when booting to Android. When booting to Linux on the D, you're limited to the same resources as the S. Finally, that OS is not stock. I got the D from Anbernic when it first came out, and the OS that came with it looks nothing like the one in this video. It's like the version in the video has a different default theme.

Link goes to Arc-D
I feel like every few months we get a brand new handheld that's hailed as the best thing. It's tough on consumers lol

2gb RAM or higher should be the standard on these devices in 2024. They keep reusing the same chips on these handhelds under a different name.
Tempted to get this in the clear blue - looks so great

Thanks for review mad pixel
The extra ram is only for android os itself, it doesn’t help emulation

@@pwnswoggleWell. Now I have a sudden urge to unsubscribe from him.
@airthrowDBT yes he did and I'm saying it 100% doesn't make a difference in any things. glad I could clear it up for you
Sorry, can Linux “see” the extra ram at all?

Please do video of these 2 handhelds playing 2 player games together. I saw this demoed on the anbernic channel and would like to see tested
Looks great. How do you find the screen size?
This would be great with so many fighters. In particular CPS2 fighters, the buttons are great for the combo chains in them.

I really wish they made a see-thru blue case for the Android version...ugh
Seems almost perfect, just needs a bit more power. I'll definitely get the next more powerful version.
Did yours come with the games because of the review? I cannot seem to find any online with the games included,

have you had any issues with brightness i seen a couple of reviews saying the screen is very dull
What brand SD card was included?

I wish the other version had the blue shell too.
Hey Ron, Does Shredder's Revenge work on the arc-D?
Hello, Can it play Marvel vs Capcom 2 (DC) at full speed? Thanks.
is there a way to play two players with another person locally if you have 2 of these?
Battery life? Replaceable battery?
Cant wait to get this. Think its a must need for sega fans
And Nintendo fans.
One question: How to add cheats like for arcade and mame and Game Boy Advance?
Is this emulation ps2, Wii or gamecube ?
For this to have been designed to look like a Sega Saturn controller and not be able to play Saturn games is definitely a letdown..
Ikr. It's honestly a slap in the face.
So D means Dual and S means single
Thats what i was thinking, had to look up which version was what. Now i just think of this.
Yes
Yes. I was thinking the same thing.
Sometimes they had some in A or L as well, A means android while L means Linux.
Analogue posted the Pocket firmware update!
Will this play Mega CD aswell?
It should run them flawlessly on Retroarch. I don't think any of the builds they make are missing the bios.
Looks cool
Be good to see this plays on a tv
They should provide a games list before buying

I don't get the clear cases for handhelds. Ive always thought it looks dumb every since the clear purple game boy colors back in the day

Why don't you just switch the case?
Amazeballs is the cringiest word ever spoken. Unforgivable
😊👍
Nice
👍👍™️
Its all the same stuff but different shell ,waste of hard earned wages to me ,im still playing my retroid pocket 2s which plays up to gamecube okay
