I am a senior citizen (64 yrs old) with major depressive disorder, PTSD, and generalized anxiety. I stay in my bedroom most of the time. I am not yet comfortable being out and about with people post-pandemic. I do see my therapist twice a week, and I am slowing doing things like sitting on the patio, working on a puzzle, etc. But more than anything, I want to get back to writing in my journal. Whenever I would try, I would get distracted and/or triggered and would stop in frustration. Guess what?? You are helping me! I am able to focus more easily. And things that normally trigger me (sounds, smells, images) seem to bounce off and away, almost as if there is a kind of force field around my brain that won’t let them in. Maybe if you have med school friends going thru their psych rotation or are thinking about becoming a psychiatrist you could mention this to them. It could make for some interesting research, I think. Anyway, THANK YOU from the bottom of my little old lady heart!
This is exactly how a Pomodoro study with me video should be made: lofi, nature breaks, "headlines" on the timeline, plants at the back :D I have used this a 100 times now probably. Are there any similar videos that are made this well? :)
This video was recommended to me on RUclips but I didn't click it the first time. Out of sheer curiosity and coincidence today I was searching 'life of a medical student' and found your channel. This has lead me to find this video!
I'm at the last year of high school and I wasn't studying well in the last weeks but this video has really motivated me to start with the things I have to do. I can say I'm productive today. I'm very thankful 💛 from Egypt
Even after half a year, this video is the only study with me video i really zone into when I study. Thank you so much! Listening to LoFi Jingle Bells all year long :D
i'm in med school currently struggling to motivate myself to study for the biochem and biophysics exam and this is honestly helping me get the studytime in. just been running these videos over and over and finally closing in on finish everything before the exam next week. Love your channel Zach! Been watching since before i got into med school!
BIG fan of these. First-year med student and have been losing my motivation heading into finals, so looking for anything I can find to knock out some quality studying. Thank you for posting!
Cool! I'm in an RN nursing program so I'm even studying similar material:) Will listen today as I study, and follow along with the breaks. Thank you and best of luck to all others who are studying- it will be worth it- we got this!!
Zach your videos help me so much through the boring code writing nights and bioinformatics papers I have to read. Thanks for making these pomodoro sessions!
8th August 2021 I've fully followed and completed the video from 0942 to 1836! (So yeah I took 8 hours 54 mins instead of 7 hours). I took several pauses, came back past break time but I did reverse the video to ensure I study a full 25 minutes in each session. Truly appreciate your video! I did it! I am happy to complete my revision for 7 hours today! Joyce from Malaysia
Hi Zach, I normally listen to jazz music when I study. However, this is a nice change, love the music. Keep making these videos and don't listen to the guy that said turn the volume down.
IDK why it's an addiction! Personally loving the beat you choose. Been using this every day not just for studying but also for cleaning my room, cooking, and stuff. Apparently the beat and the vibe from the video literally stuck in my head thus when I'm on the way I wanna get back home so bad to turn on my laptop and open RUclips to play this one :')
Your videos are so aesthetically pleasing. I really enjoy studying with your videos, especially when my motivation gets low because of the whole online-med school situation. Thank you for making them! :)
Just to say that you are saving my studies. We needed to move back to lockdown due to the new cases of covid here in NZ and my postgraduate classes are again online, so studying at home is super hard. I started then looking for a solution to help me perform better after my first and terrible test from home and I found you. Your Pomodoro videos and techniques on how to study are helping me to concentrate and get things done in a more effective way. It does make you feel that you are not alone. Thank you very much.
I use Lo-Fi beats too when studying for my certifications. I am from Philippines and I subscribed to your channel coz your contents are cool and very informative. Create more bro!
His posture is good. I watch this not just for increasing focus but also the posture. Everytime i look at him, i'll remember to fix my clumsy position +}
To everyone who's studying with this video: Checklist: • A bottle of water, at least 1liter. Your brain works better if it has enough water and drinking helps you to concentrate💧 • Your charger. You sometimes don't even notice that your device's battery is going down, so better have it plugged in all the time🔋 • Your headphones. You will be able to focus more with headphones, because it blocks background noises. Also, if it's a late night study session, you won't wake up anyone🎧 • a tea or coffee. Coffee keeps you awake, green or black tea can make you feel more awake as well.☕ • Your study/work stuff: your laptop/tablet/phone , a few pens, paper or whatever you need.⌨️ •Anything else you could need, what about a heat pad, a blanket, a good lamp, your pet so you have a study buddy 🐈 Reminder: After an hour, you should stand up and walk a bit around. Better stop the music or put on different music for the break. Open your window, even if it's cold outside. Fresh air will make it better, trust me. You could also lay your head down on your desk for ten minutes and listen to a podcast. Or, if you have to read a book, listen to the audiobook of it. You can also listen to the audiobook while doing another thing, that's even better than listening to music while reading the book. 📖 I hope y'all had a good day, if not, that's okay too. Remember to take care of yourself and try to get some sleep tonight 😴🧸
I wouldn't reccomend reading a book or listening to an audiobook during your breaks. I usally stand up fill up my glass and then go to the window to vape a little bit, it helps me relax my head. You don't want to stimulate your brain too much during your breaks. Just my experience though.
I was introduced to this “Study with me trend” and came across your channel. This is very helpful. I’m a 2nd year PharmD student and the study time needed for block exams is immense. Thank you for letting me study with you! 😃
Thank you for that, pretty efficient studying i got from here and i’m waiting the new ones. Especially, i appreciate you showed Uludağ Milli Parkı in Turkey as a Turkish medical student✌️✌️
great session bro i liked your settings and everything , maybe without music would be even better cuz with music I cant focus i'd lower the volume ! thank you anyway bro maybe next session soon ?!
Zach, your Study With Me videos are helping me get through grad school. I just have one gripe: I can't stand it when "Jingle Bells" comes on in this video. My favorite one so far has been the 5 hour one with the snow and quiet/ambient music.
This is so good for the days I need a little motivation and momentum working in-home office. Thanks for making this :) I make such weird faces when I'm in deep work mode, can't imagine a video of me working like this...haha!
OMG The Jingle Bells at about 45 min really put me off! It's spring at the moment here and I hate if some tune like that leaves "haunting" me in my mind while I need to concentrate!!! :O :(
Yea it takes me about 3-4 hours to go through reviews and another 2-3 to hours to learn the new cards and do lectures. Then maybe another hour on questions/misc stuff. So I'd say I average ~8 hours a day?
Been kinda difficult at the beginning because all I did was just looking at you (lol). Anyway thanks for the video, really helped me to have a nice and productive study session.
you're a life saver! this video helped me a lot to improve my concentration and productivity, also to become a believer on Pomodoro technique :) I used to be skeptical :( WELL DONE.
Hi Zach. Thanks for your nice videos! i really enjoy your content! I'm inviting you to come to Denmark and experience the life of a medical student here, with a 4 hour commute daily (including a 16 mile bikeride each way to the train), with two kinds (3 and 1 years old) and the lack of sleep it provides. It would be fun to discuss life hacks with you and see how this setup could be uptimized from your perspective. If you're up for the challenge your're most welcome here anytime. Thanks again - keep posting. - Jonathan
I like how in the breaks you put natural background pictures in the video. It is somehow calming. I would just recommend not using the Christmas song again as it got stuck in my head for the rest of the study session :D But great video and motivating for studying! Greetings from Egypt

Impossible
You gotta pump up those numbers

I think I have a new favorite RUclipsr ❤️
Used this to study for my first exam-- really helped me stay focused. I keep coming back to this. Thank you. Music is perfect and cozy!

I'm just gonna say it. Guilty of looking up at the screen too many times to appreciate how attractive he is🤞
I mean, we're only human 😋
Me too 🤫
Hehe
He is distracting us . not fair.
Glad you said it and I'm not the only one, lol

Every time when i loose concentration i look at you and i see that you are doing something and my concentration is back again, i love you for that 😂
Haha I also agree with you 😂. I think like if he can do it, stop being lazy or justify yourself.
