@@SCARYHAIRLADY I usually do watercolors, so this is a huge learning curve. I tried these on freezer paper and it was not very successful, so next time I will try Yupo or something a little more substantial. I love watching your videos and will certainly watch more. I enjoy you very much!

I'm new to alcohol ink, I've been wanting to try something new! I found your channel!! This was a great first tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing!! New subscriber
Love your roses, some days I can get them, others, complete fail ....I am going to try your way, slightly different to how I have attempted! Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️🎨🖌
Hey friend, I am starting to learn the rose but I got that Revlon dryer and it is too powerful and even on warm it is hot and dries my ink and alcohol in a very short time. So I'm going to take it back to Target. But today at Walmart I found a Conair similar to Revlon and it is much better for me. It has 2 settings for wattage I guess 250 and 125. It's on 125 now and I experimented with it and now I'm going to change it to 250 and see what happens. Cost about the same as Revlon. Love your Rose's. Hope mine comes out like yours. Stay safe.
Thank You and You're Welcome. That is good info to have about the dryers. I do low speed on somethings and high on others. Also adding a drop or two of glycerin to your alcohol can act like blending solution and keep it from drying too fast. Watch The Frugal Crafter on Glyerin. If it does dry too much I just add alcohol and continue working the ink. Thanks for the feed back.
This is absolutely gorgeous and it looks so realistic. Can you please tell me what setting are you having your dryer,I have the exact same one. I’ve seen other roses and they said you can only do it with a heat gun,but here you are, yours is really beautiful 👌😊
yes I also really want to know. my heat tool gets too hot. only has 1 speed.... i won't manage although I tried so many times already to make a rose....
I don't use a heat tool. I use the Revlon dryer and take the brushes off the end and just use the dryer. Look in the description for revlon and there is a link.
I absolutely love your tutorials, thanks for sharing. Do you always use Yupo paper? Is that a blow dryer? Is your ink mixed half and half? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance.
Love the name by the way... ok here it is. I have never used yupo paper. This is Kirklands Glossy photo paper.amzn.to/3nKKKXP the dull side. The blow dryer is a revlon brush blower without the brush. amzn.to/3dvN9AV. I put down the alcohol then the ink but you can premix them and that does great too. Let me know if I can help again.
@@SCARYHAIRLADY thank you. I did mix my ink with alcohol as I saw you do so in a previous video. It’s awesome actually. I can’t really afford yupo so I’ve been using shiny poster board and so far, so good. I will be trying the photo paper and tiles though too. Those are things I have available to me. I truly love your art work and your tutorials, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions as well. I can’t wait to try a flower like yours🌸.
My ink dries up fast. I am using Yupo paper and Revlon dryer and lots of 91% alcohol (old) I found in cabinet. I cannot get any alcohol until June delivered. Can you tell me why the ink is drying so fast compared to yours? Thank you. I enjoy your work!
Hi Irene, Look in the description there I list all my supplies. Look for Revlon Dryer and the amazon link is there. Side note This dryer changed things for me as far as blowing the ink. They are only like 22.00. Win.
Is that rubbing alcohol you use? The smell of it would kill me. lol I've used it for an underpainting with pastel and hated the smell, so now I use water. Takes longer to dry, but no stink. lol Loved this demo, thanks.
If I may interject, I don't think one could do anything like this with alcohol inks and water. You make a great point, though, about fumes of high % isopropyl alcohol.. Proper masks, (not the now ubiquitous surgeons masks, for example), good ventilation, and pet consideration is recommended!
interesting to play and see. I think Bombay inks might do this with water on a resistant paper like we use . Kirkland's photo paper. Bombay inks can be used with water or alcohol.
Yes I put down alcohol then drop the ink in. It may also help to add a little of ink in with alcohol before hand so it is already mixed. I just put a little ink -10%+ with 70-90 % alcohol and take a pipette or put in a bottle and add it to the paper premixed. Don't give up . You can do this.
I bought this dryer on Amazon recently. I sent the first one back because it was too hot on the cold setting. The second one blows way too hard (high) on cold, plus is not really cold either, but warm. These blowers are useless. Most likely you got yours a long time ago, when they were better! Please don't recommend this dryer any more, they simply don't work. If anyone can find a dryer without handle that blows cold air gently, let us know. Then we might be able to make these roses! FYI, the sound of your dryer tells me that the air comes out your dryer much more gentle than mine!
This dryer ( revlon ) has a low and 2 high settings. On high there is a heat and cool and on low it is warm. I just got mine a few months ago so I don't think they would have changed them. I use it for the heat but the cool isn't too hot. I am sorry it didn't work for what you were needing it for but they are good dryers. Maybe an airbrush would be more to your liking as it has no heat to it. I hope you find something you can work with.. Good Luck.
@@SCARYHAIRLADYThank you for your fast response! I agree with you on the settings, they are exactly as you describe them. Which one of these settings do you use on the video for the roses on the photo paper? Perhaps my Yupo paper is harder to work with? The ink flies all over the place. Costco has been out of their Kirkland photo paper for months now here on the Big Island, so I have not been able to try it on that paper yet. Thank you for your video and your involvement in our alcohol ink community!
I went back to the video. It sounds like I use it on low. I usually don't use high unless I am doing a large area. But I dont work that fast well. So low is usually what I use. If you still have one of them give it another try. I would hate for you to give up on this blower. Alcohol ink is like chasing a cat into a kennel. Ha ha. Let me know if you have anymore concerns.
@@SCARYHAIRLADY Low is the way to go, but unfortunately the low setting is not the COOL setting. The COOL setting is HIGH air output! Heat and Yupo don't do well. I need to get a hold of some photo paper!

Isopropyl alcohol 90 %

The low blowing but it has heat. Its the next to the end. Turn it all the way on and then come back one place.
A heat gun will melt your Yupo.

I have the same blow dryer. what setting are you using. slow/fast? hot /cool?
I usually use it on low which is low air but it has heat. If I am doing something really big I will use high which is high air and heat.
