- Taiwan’s strongest earthquake since 1999 hit the island early Wednesday during morning rush hour, damaging buildings and highways and leaving nine people dead, the Associated Press reported.

I doubt this is the dog's motivation. It's seems all the ruckus as exacerbated the already distempered animal.

If that's the actual body count, Taiwan held up to that quake pretty well. RIP to the deceased, of course.
Taiwan has extremely frequent earthquakes similar to japan, so most places employ similar building techniques and safety protocols for earthquakes.
Although the intensity of this earthquake was high, the damage in Taiwan was not severe compared with previous earthquakes in Turkey or other countries. Many buildings in Taiwan are ugly and old, but their earthquake resistance is still very good. Taiwanese people also took the earthquake relatively calmly.
Yeah, it's ugly, but at least it's safe to live there. After all, Hualien is in an earthquake zone.

RIP to the 9 victims 😭. Taiwan must have some strict building standards with a 7.4 in the city!
They updated their building standards after the 9/21/1999 earthquake. This is a good testament to how well they upgraded their standards.
The Taiwanese are very blessed that this strong quake occurred south of the city in a mostly unpopulated region. It was between the ocean on the east and a mountain on the west which separated it from the developed, populated area. The main part of the nearest city was sufficiently north that widespread death and destruction did not occur. Please pray for those affected.

Depends on the cam, mine stores its footage on a "buffer" untill it gets pulled from the device. But im with ya, put ya cam in doorways, not ya room.

My heart goes out to them. Seeing those buildings leaning like that is just so scary! I’ve only felt one teeny earthquake in my life and I remember the before I felt anything my cats started running around like crazy. Animals are so much more sensitive to tremors than we are!

Because Taiwan learned from the 1999 earthquake and strictly required buildings to be earthquake-resistant.
@@BC-dd4bg ok that makes sense because I know a lot of countries outside of the US don't have the same building codes that we do. Glad they learned their lesson.

I lived in Taiwan for two years as an American. The entire time I was there, China was sending war planes close to the island on weekly basis🙄🙄. And they still are still doing it. Trying to intimidate. The planes go close to the island then turn around and go back to China.

So we can monitor anytime by mobile phone.
Also connect to other smart devices, such as Ac,heater,pet food feeder...so you can control all those when you are not at home

WiFi home monitor is very common in Taiwan, especially in pet owners, kids family. It connects to mobile phone so we can check it when we r not at home

Actually, it is. Look up the Pacific rim "ring of fire". It is a geological feature of the Pacific basin. That's why California, the Pacific NW, Alaska, Kamchatka, Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia are prone to earthquakes and volcanoes.
