The "movie" parts were made specifically for this song. Sabaton asked Peter Stormare to play that part, and he agreed since he likes their music and likes supporting ambitious and unusual projects "på hemmafronten". =) Also, you really should watch the live version of this song, recorded at Woodstock Poland - it's EPIC!
every year 1st August 5pm in every city and village we run sirens for 1 minute for all which dies in this day in Warsaw is monument of small soldiers for every child which fights for our freedom in war !
This is the first Sabaton song I heard, and I immediately fell in love with their music. As a Pole, I know the history of the Warsaw Uprising very well and I must admit that Sabaton did an amazing job wrote this song and created music video, which was shot in Warsaw and starred Polish actors (well known in Poland) and also one Polish retired general. Video was also directed by the Polish director, but script was written by Joakim and Pär. The premiere of the music video took place on August 1, 2010, on the 66th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. This is one of the favourite songs among Polish Sabaton fans. Check out the live version from Woodstock 2012 (a Polish rock festival named after its famous American predecessor). At that time, more than half a million people sang this song with Sabaton. You can also watch Sabaton "Coat of Arms" listening together party, one of their monthly 25th anniversary streaming. They also talked about the "Uprising" song. Tommy joined Sabaton in 2016, a good few years after the song was released. Thanks for a great reaction to the "Uprising" video.🤘🇵🇱😊 ruclips.net/video/BmerZbDPXns/видео.htmlsi=kmxma17p9i6X6qBf ruclips.net/video/5mN6sEzopG0/видео.htmlsi=zS6g2hbPZtR8MKgm
The Warsaw Uprising was the last major attempt by the Polish Underground to overthrow the Nazi occupiers. The Soviet Red Army had pushed to the literal outskirts of the city, and the Polish people assumed that the Soviets would assist them in liberating themselves. The Poles were initially successful in taking over the majority of Warsaw, however the Red Army halted their advance and refused to lend assistance. American and British commanders begged Stalin to allow for the use of Soviet airfields to drop supplies and ammunition to the Polish fighters, but Stalin adamently refused. Polish efforts to communicate via radio with the Red Army were met with silence and Poles who attempted to flee to the Soviet lines were shot by Red Army soldiers. Eventually, the Nazis crushed the uprising and virtually leveled Warsaw, with over 85% of the city being destroyed. Hitler personally ordered that 100 Poles were to be executed for every Nazi soldier killed, ultimately killing between 150,000-200,000 Polish civilians. Shortly after crushing the uprising, the Red Army pushed into Warsaw and the Polish quickly found out that the Soviets were not liberators, but occupiers just like the Nazis. After the war, the Soviets formally absorbed Poland into the Eastern Bloc, with a Soviet puppet government being installed. The Poles were not recognized as victors in WW2 by the Allied Powers and those who had participated in the Polish Resistance, even Polish communists, were rounded up and sent to Soviet Gulags, executed, or forced to flee the country. Modern Historians almost universally agree that the Soviets could have easily assisted in the Uprising had they wanted to. However, Stalin did not want the Poles to successfully drive out the Nazis since it would give them leverage to maintain their independence post-war, and he also did not want an experienced resistance organization operating in an area he wanted to conquer himself. As such, he allowed the Nazis to crush the rebels and then took their place as Poland's new oppressor.
Bro, last December, when I was in Poland, I visited de Warsaw Uprising Museum. So If I already knew the history behind this song is horrendous, now I know it is much more than it, unfortunatly. I cannot put in words, nor in portuguese (my mother tongue) the feeling I had when I visited this place. About the song it is fantastic and The Sabaton have the capability to put something interesting in every single song. The lyrics are great (in artistic way) but tells us a horrible, shameful and devastating story that humanity has lived through. Artistically, the song is superb. Thank you my dear bro.
Hello Mylord I think this is the first Sabaton reaction I see from you and don't we looove Sabaton😊 I would say the Polish people suffered the most during the second world war. Being German I believe that a have an obligation to know my history. My parents were kids back then. I know a lot of people especially in my generation and younger do not want to be confronted with this anymore but I believe it is important to be confronted with it so it does not happen again. I applaud Sabaton to teach young people with their songs. They are amazing. I worry about the political landscape right now and hope people come to their sense. I love what Sabaton does and applaud you for spreading their songs❤

Have you missed his reaction to Race to the sea with a very special guest. (I tried to link to it but then RUclips deleted my comment).
I saw this once before. So impressive. No shortcuts taken with the videos. You mentioned Joakim's voice. There's a term called "coming in" when a voice reaches its full potential. He has a much deeper, rounder tone now
I love Sabaton very much.❤🔥And I love this song! And I also got to know Tommy and his band thanks to Sabaton.🥰 I've been to the Sabaton concert three times (in the Czech Republic) and they were the best concerts I've ever been to in my life. ❤❤❤ Thank you for this reaction. 😃😃😃
Thank you very much for this reaction, David. As a long-time fan of Sabaton, I will say that they have no bad songs. Any of their songs resonates in the soul and heart. I'm glad that I got to listen to this song today. One of their many songs that causes pain in the soul. Thanks for the review. Have a great holiday!
Thanks for another great reaction, Given Toe. Who knew the Patreon wheel would throw out a Sabaton song, and one you didn't know as well?? Super cool. Hard song to listen to and to watch; but great video and track. Like many of their songs, it focuses on recent (and not so recent) history that is important to remember. There's a really powerful museum devoted to the uprising in Warsaw, which I was lucky enough to visit, even if it left me in tears. Thanks for your wide choice of reaction, and here's to the next one. Enjoy your holiday.
My request if I'm not mistaken ❤❤❤❤ 😍😍😍😍😍😍 Love your reactions 😍😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️ And it's not from a movie, they filmed this video in Warsaw especially for this song. And Peter Stormare was their special guest.
They where so isolated that the polish resistance even made many of their own guns, SMG, rifles, pistols... true most where stolen/ captured German guns and hidden polish army stuff, but significant oart was made. Britain and US where not allowed to airdrop supplies as Stalin didn't want a free poland (for obvious reasons)
The music video uses real footage from the Warsaw Uprising. The very beginning of the music video is a hard blow to reality. The signed order and the poster on the wall say - 100 Poles for 1 German. This means that for every German eliminated by the resistance movement, the Germans will eliminate 100 random civilians. The music video is a mild version of what happened. And it happened brutally, mercilessly and bloodily. On Adolf's orders, the city was to disappear from the face of the earth. Which was 80% successful. Warsaw had to be practically completely rebuilt.
I also found history to be boring when I was in school. Unfortunately. History is not boring, but it has to be presented in a better way than the textbooks do. As for the Warsaw uprising - or Poland during the war - they were the real heroes. They got attacked by the Nazi Germany and the Russians at the same time. They did not give up. They were fighting for their country. The same thing happened in the 1980s. In my opinion, Poland was the place where the fall of communism started. But seriously, the Polish nation was incredibly strong during WW2.
Oj, ja ha… men ok, tog för givet att du hört allt från Sabaton! 😅 Ligger högt på min lista. Finns en även otrolig live spelning som du kan kika in. Ha d’e gött på semestern!
