Hi Andrew😳beautiful like a jewel!!!!! The sky, the sea and very very interesting the contrast of green stands out on the right... Stupendous!!!!!! Andrew, you, 🗣️Great Artist..... 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌹🙋♀️And... The music background, fantastic🎼
Just came across this whilst looking up Devoran on RUclips. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing you construct this wonderful painting. Devoran has a very special family connection, so thank you so much.
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt A great pleasure. I shall visit Devoran sometime in the future & look up the addresses and haunts of my ancestors (& enjoy refreshment in The Pandora!) - and explore the walks you mention. Thanks again & you're a wonderful artist.
This is fantastic. The Magenta underneath really comes through subtly in the gray clouds and is really interesting to my eye. You really elevated the reference!
Just superb Andrew! I'm loving all your videos and this one in particular. Really enjoyed watching you use the palette knife to stroke some of the dark into the light field as well, I must try that technique - thank you!
Just noticed on Facebook that you live in Helston. My late wife and I holidayed in Cadgwith for 17 consecutive years (they couldn't get rid of us haha), in fact I've recently posted one of my paintings on their facebook page.
Hi Hugh - I love it at Cadgwith. I have a drawing video of the boats in the cove. You must have enjoyed your holidays there and have some lovely memories. Really pleased you are enjoying the videos - best wishes. Andrew
Many thanks for your kind comments Douglas. It is always difficult to know when to stop adding details. I do like the way the painting worked though, - it caught the atmosphere of Devoran Quay as the light faded. Best wishes to you for the new year

Hi Andrew ! I like this one. And also I found the use of ground magenta interesting ; I suppose it dried very fast as it was a thin layer. The time of realisation doesn't matter for the clients. My sister in law sold 400 € an acrylic painting on canvas 70 x 70 cm, that took her 30 mns to do ; just because it was beautiful. On the side of the painter, only the feeling and the energy is the main matter. I begin to have commissions. An elderly couple brought me at their home to show me my commission will be at the entrance of their home. First board to be seen in their appartement full of beautiful ancient paintings and some come from listed painters ! It was very intimidating. Seeing how shy and shameful I was, they told me "don't worry , if you love what you do, the painting will be lovely ! '' Waoouh, how kind are they ! But me, even though I would like to go fast because I have other commissions, I can't because I am a kind of 🐢 turtle-woman 😅.
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt I will do after the the painter Jabob Maris from whom I love many paintings. I "cut" one to select just the interesting part and to get the right format. I think to do one with gouache (professional grade) and another with my high quality of pastels, so they could choose and anyway the one left will not be a waste. It's both a security and a pleasure to paint after Maris for this commission. The painting is already agreed by the clients and it was my favourite form a selection of three proposed 😄
This is a fine panorama, Andrew. After it dries, how do you intend to display it? Build a frame maybe, or perhaps brace the back of the panel to hang directly on a wall?
Thank you Thomas. I have a white frame ready to use. I will post a photo on the community section later. Paint is drying quickly with the warm air and long hours of daylight
I can't remember exactly but I only use these 3 - Manganese Blue, Ultramarine and Cobalt. Probably Manganese with something mixed like magenta or lemon yellow (or both and white)
Thank you. It took about 3 days to be dry enough. Longer than I hoped. I needed it to be very dry as it would have affected all the subsequent colours too much
This has a wonderful, almost tranquil Mood. The Sky
Thank you Mike
What a lovely little painting. Very evocative. You live in a gorgeous part of the world and bring the beauty to us all.
Thank you so much Christian
Beauty. That magenta ground showing through is 👨🍳💋

Well done Jasmine that is great news. Don’t worry about speed, as you said, it’s about the quality of the finished work 👍🏻

Nice one Andrew , how long did you let your magenta dry on this one before painting ?
Thank you. It took about 3 days to be dry enough. Longer than I hoped. I needed it to be very dry as it would have affected all the subsequent colours too much
Andrew, what is the purpose of the magenta ground?
I was experimenting with a cool coloured ground. I know it works well for snow paintings
