Perhaps the soul stirs to an expression that creates a familiar internal knowing... our truth deeper than our understanding seems to guide us to where souls expression can be understood. * DOING GOD'S WILL IS EVERYTHING. * GOD ALWAYS SPEAKS IN CLARITY. * OUR FEELINGS DON'T REVEAL THE TRUTH ABOUT REALITY, THEY ONLY REVEAL THE CONDITION OF OUR HEARTS. * WHEN IT COMES TO DECISION MAKING, WE HAVE TO GATHER THE DATA, SEEK COUNSEL, WEIGHT ALL OPTIONS AND RISKS/CONSEQUENCES - AND THEN DECIDE. * EVERY DECISION RISKS SOMETHING, EVERY DECISION COSTS SOMETHING, BUT NOT DECIDING ALSO COSTS SOMETHING.
That is the difficulty here. Scripture might state what the will of God is to a point, but it not a road map. It guides me in decisions, but I have to weigh out all the circumstances I deal with.
@@aimfuldrifterwhere does it say that? The Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9 : “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? The Bible does not say follow your heart.
I am a teacher, a few years ago I was working at a school that was very toxic. It was toxic in ways that led me to massive amounts of stress and bitterness towards everyone in my life. Stubborn me, I wouldn't quit. I kept getting strong urges to put in my notice and quit but my pride wouldn't let me. Teachers are in short demand these days and I knew that I could find another teaching job quickly, but my ego wouldn't let me do it. One morning on my way to work, I prayed and said Father if you want me to leave this job you're gonna have to give me a clear sign. Well, later that very same day, I was told that I wasn't a good fit at this particular school and that my contract wouldn't be renewed; basically I was fired. It was a relief even though my pride and ego were severely bruised but within the next 2 weeks I was interviewed and hired at a school closer to me with better supports and opportunities.
So happy for you. But it doesn´t always work out like that. I know plenty of people who are being bullied at the workplace but cannot leave because they can´t find another job. Why doesn´t God send them signs? Does He love them less?
XD same I was miserable at my dream job also pray for sign and courage to quit. But never have the courage to do so then one the last day I pray to God that he can safe me from this position, at last praised to the lord my boss fired me so I don't have to give the letter. Late I was hired at another clinic with much better support and realized my dream feild is not a gd fit for me no matter how much I tried its gonna break me down mentally
@@AnaRodriguezTerraz I'm sorry for the late reply, the truth is I don't have a good answer for you. What I can attest to, is that the Father loves us all, he doesn't love any of us less than the next person though it may feel that way. When we ask for answers and signs, when we pray and look to the father for help, it doesn't mean we are going to get the results or help we want. I wish I could tell you what prayers to say or how long to wait in order to get your prayers answered. However, everything is in his time and I know that is a general generic answer, however it is the truth.
@@AnaRodriguezTerrazno one goes through life without trials and tribulations. Saint Jude was martyred, do you think God didn't love him? Saint Paul suffered sleepless nights, they tried to stone him, and he was imprisoned. I've read stories about saints who with they would get martyred because they loved Jesus so much. Pray and make they best decisions you can with the power you have been instructed with. Our true power is less than a paper napkin, but Gods power is infinite. He sees what everyone struggles with and he still Loves them.
My sign was my grandma (who raised me) had a heart attack she didn’t recover. I went to st Mary’s and cried. So I am conforming to catholic. Every mass I come home feeling whole. My grandma would be proud. And I have a new community. 🙏 mass was amazing today
One problem that adds to the difficulty of making decisions is having clinical depression. I lived it. Try to get married with that over one’s head. Called off my first wedding 3 weeks beforehand. It was humiliating, almost unheard of in my day and my Mom wouldn’t speak to me for a couple of months. We married 2 years later. Trying to decide what to do was a nightmare. Once I weighed everything, I decided to marry quickly so I couldn’t change my mind. ( Depression is exhausting ) I thought about everything to do with marriage and being Catholic, and although he was not my great love ( ruled that guy out a few years earlier, because of possible alcoholism ) I felt it was my best choice. Seeing so many people terribly “ in love “ who had divorced, I knew that it had to do with commitment. Celebrated our 44th Anniversary last month! Love is not a feeling - it is a commitment.
Well said! Its more to do with what is practical: not a dream wedding or dream house ect, but is this GODS will....will we asa couple be a good example of CHRISTS love and forgiveness.
@@deirdremorris9234 Hi Deidre, if you can give me your opinion...there was a young man I dated for about 4 months last year. I dated him because he was very strong and solid in his faith and love for Jesus. From day one I never felt any type of physical attraction to him but I wanted to give God a chance to grow my physical attraction towards him because I knew the guy would make a faithful, loving husband one day. We also were lacking in chemistry, I felt drained and conflicted after hanging out with him instead of rejuvenated and excited to see him again. But I kept telling myself to hang in there because maybe God would produce some chemistry over time. Unfortunately the more I tried to force myself to imagine a life with him, the more I felt like I would probably feel 'trapped' and lonely in a marriage relationship with him. I guarded both our hearts to the best of my ability by not allowing anything physical to happen during dating including kissing. And I'm really grateful that I did that because his feelings for me outpaced mine for him significantly and he started to talk about marriage around the 4th month mark. I knew in my heart that I wasn't able to commit myself to him in that way so I shared my heart with him about my internal conflicts and discontinued seeing him. What I'm getting at is, do you believe the only necessary thing for a good marriage is reverence for God and forgiveness? I've struggled with feelings of wondering if I am "shallow" because I didn't choose to marry this guy who loved the Lord very much. Do you have any thoughts on this? Does God want us to feel some type of reverence for our partners in addition to sharing spiritual values? Or should we marry someone without any attraction and chemistry, and hope for the best if they have same spiritual beliefs and seem like they would be a good spouse?
@@cbebop5 You answered your own question: you said you were drained and conflicted. Im very pleased you guarded both your hearts by refraining from physical side. I’m 23 years old. I’m currently in my sixth year as an undergrad student majoring in the social sciences department. I feel as if God wants me to become a priest. It’s all I can think about. In a sense, I’m in denial because I’m still young. I was born and raised Catholic. I keep worrying about how my family would react if I followed the signs I’ve seen, but I shouldn’t because it’s my life. After all, I’d be living a life that pleases God.
What a beautiful desire you have in your heart... I believe you should explore that deeper and see if that really is your calling. The church needs good priest. Faithful and God Loving, people loving priest.
Just follow your Heart, God will make you path smooth. Praying for you young people who strive to serve God. You will never regret if you follow God's will. By God's grace you might be a good Priest like Father Mike😊. God bless
The Lord wants us to trust Him. My faith has been tested many many times. Long story but Jesus saved me from deep, dangerous occult (not to mention serious sin!) and prior to being saved/conversion experience idolatry was so rampant in my mind even though I was seeking to do God's will in everything. So I have been tested to trust God and to do God's will no matter what others around me thought incl my kids, husband, mother, sister. Painful but was necessary to go through all this to be so close to our Lord to do His will in all. Bless you in your discernment!
Honestly I'm not good at decision making I always doubt myself. Maybe that's why my life is tough right now. Thank you Father Mike for this great message.
Journalize your circumstances, write them down. When in doubt about something, wait, do not proceed. Write it down, think, show restraint, and make your decision of your own free will.
"At the same time, I think the anxiety a lot of us experience about making decisions about the future is more about getting out of the responsibility of making a decision and less about doing God's will." So good thank you Father Mike
I was baptized in a Baptist church at 10 and confirmed Catholic in 2020. I love my protestant brothers and sisters. I always will be grateful for the Baptist people who inspired me to know Jesus and learn more. God bless you, Sister
Making a decision is one of my biggest weakness. When I was a child I always relied on parents decision (not their fault). It came to the point that I didnt know how to decide for myself. Was too scared of taking risk and loosing. I was so used to letting others decide for me that simple tasks takes time for me to handle and I am unable to defend what I want. I was also always waiting for a sign. So for parents out there. Teach your child how to make decisions while they are young. Make them understand that its ok to make mistakes. Thats its ok to take risks.
Me too. I think I m an airhead. Yes I think it is very important to help your children learn how to make decisions for themselves. I ve made a real mess up of my life because I didn't know how to make decisions for myself. Feel your pain. God bless ❤
Something that always helps me in my decision making process is having very candid prayer with the Lord Jesus. I talk to him as if he is sitting at the foot of my bed listening very intently. (Which he actually is) I am also someone who will take whatever time I need in order to make a sound decision. Many times in my life I have made some really dumb decisions in haste. I learned that haste is of the Devil himself. Patience and prayer have been my best weapons in making good and sound decisions about any of lifes challenges. I also think to myself "What would please Jesus?" How can I be a good steward of what he has blessed me with in order to make good for myself or others? I hope this helps you. They are things I think about and pray about when I need to discern how to make a good decision.
Cameron, I'm in the same boat. Discerning my religious vocation. Praying for you as well because it is a daunting process for me. Also, having a vocations director will be immensely helpful.
I went to church for the first time on Sunday and it's been 8 years I stepped away but the service the priest gave I felt like God was using him to get the message to me i felt this warmth an peace and I want to get to know him more 🙏 hopefully it's possible for me to do
I'm a protestant but your videos are great. I'm in the middle of some big decisions and this video was like a slap in the face going "hey bro chill out, come back to reality and be practical". Some groups of protestants can be so feely

"God always speaks in clarity." When you phrased it that way, it made a lot of sense to me. The devil and his reasonings are murky, and they are mixed up and make your brain hurt and cause you distress. Thanks for enlightening me Father!
The Devil also speaks in clarity, and his reasonings are solid (not murky). But, you will know the message is from the Devil and not from God. And, you might possibly be persuaded by the Devil.
I received a sign yesterday. I was tbh waiting for a sign from God. I have this bible journal that I had to beg my mom to buy since actually we're not Christians. I haven't started reading it yet. I wanted it to start it from the coming year. Yesterday when I was moving the journal, I accidentally opened a page and lemme quote the words. 'He chose you. Regardless of how it happened, he called you by name, and now you are his'' Feeling blessed ❤️
@@Adam-John I was just thinking did he choose me for this ? Is Christianity my salvation and then the words ' He chose you' and the feeling of certainty. That was the sign.
@@darshani5507 That is exactly the point. How do you determine it. What is the reliable method to lead you to the truth. What do you know about Christianity. You mentioned "did he choose me for this". First and foremost, you need to make sure the "he" in that sentence is even real. Then only anything else that follows will make sense.

@@sethjohnson5726 Philip is right. Because we have our free will and God wants us to be responsible (Fr. Mike mentioned about responsibility as well). That's actually a clear answer already from God, kind of like, "I give you free will, be wise in taking decision, and then be responsible."
Caroline, as long as you are on this earth, then you know that God has a loving plan for you -- otherwise he wouldn't leave you here. We all have made poor choices in our lives, but as the Portuguese saying goes, "God writes straight with crooked lines." I thought I had missed out on God's calling as a young man, but later I ended up going in a completely unexpected direction that has allowed me to use the gifts He gave me to help build His kingdom. He is the God of Second Chances (and third and fourth chances -- even 70 x 7 chances!). Read His Word and the works of good spiritual writers, find a sound spiritual adviser, and learn how to listen and discern His promptings. And try to live in each day in accordance with His will. The rest of your life will work itself out. I'm praying for you.
Hey Caroline, we have all been there. We fall and most often than not..we fall again. But God is with us through our highs and lows. God's will for you is an ongoing and continuous one..so you have really not missed anything. Hold on Him and find courage to keep going. I do not know if you are catholic but the beauty of the 'Our Father's' and 'Hail Marys' is that it is a great place to start praying. I hope you find the strength to pray and keep going. ♥️
I have and am going through the same thing but it is never too late. If you knowingly did so go to confession and confess your sins. Then start afresh and truly seek counsel. If unknowingly you missed God’s will for your life then seek God’s guidance ask the holy spirit to pray on your behalf when you cannot pray. Then wait on the Lord. When you make the first steps you will be guided by God . Life isn’t a straight and easy road

8:47 Having watched Fr Mike.. I was reminded of the eleven word Novena that I say everyday, as told to us by Padre Pio. “Oh my Jesus I abandon myself to you, you take over”
And this is where I put aside the the last 30 years of my life and press reset. Painful but now I realise that to decide my future is what I've been avoiding for too long and there's been a price to pay for that indecision. Prayers needed.
Don't worry. Even though we have to be responsible for everything we have decided, God will be with you to be responsible. And you can always have community around you :)

Hi Kathleen! I was where you are now a few years ago and I get the anxiety that comes with it at times. Looking back, it was a total adventure with God and something I am grateful for because I experienced what it was like to live in complete freedom, not knowing if I was going to stay in the convent/ go home, but knowing that I was letting God do his will in my life. The part where you said he has given us the chance to be stewards made me feel to cry. It touched me very deeply and made me realise that my decision to do this dip. Ed. In 2004 I heard the voice of Jesus. My priest knew I would never ever say this. But one night during Lent on a Monday I heard “ ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE HAVE FAITH.” It was very audible, authoritative and real. There was confession and Mass at my home, and ten years later to the day my son died. It was a warning to me to stay faithful. My priest also said to me never tell another especially a religious as they will not believe you because they are religious and why not happen to them. It is etched in his stone and I will go to my grave with this truth. This locution.
A priest told me once “At some point you need to make a decision, and if you make the right one or the wrong one, God will still be there with you guiding you to holiness”. This was in reference to discerning a job.
Love that. I think it is saying that who we are being is more important than what we are doing.

Some decisions cost more and have far greater risks.

But in some verses it's said to listen to your heart. So go figure. It's not all black and white.
That is the difficulty here. Scripture might state what the will of God is to a point, but it not a road map. It guides me in decisions, but I have to weigh out all the circumstances I deal with.

Pray and make they best decisions you can with the power you have been instructed with. Our true power is less than a paper napkin, but Gods power is infinite.
( Depression is exhausting )
I thought about everything to do with marriage and being Catholic, and although he was not my great love ( ruled that guy out a few years earlier, because of possible alcoholism ) I felt it was my best choice.
Pj, please see my question to Deidre below, I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts and opinion as well. :)

Prayed for you, my friend.

This was very helpful to me. I’m Protestant but anyone who worships Jesus as God above all is my brother or sister
I was baptized in a Baptist church at 10 and confirmed Catholic in 2020.
I love my protestant brothers and sisters.
I always will be grateful for the Baptist people who inspired me to know Jesus and learn more.

I agree
God bless ❤
This video came as I’m discerning vocations, albeit very nervously. What a wonderful gift it is, and very helpful. God bless and take care, Father.

My Sheep know my Voice..
@@sevenswords8781 I've tried and tried and still dont
@@jdkskwkwjdjxjfen Still don't hear his voice?
That's easy.. What is Jesus?
The Truth
You believe in Jesus so you hear his voice
The way
you follow Jesus so you hear his voice
The Life
You believe Jesus offers Eternal life so you hear his voice.
Jesus speaks to the Spirit...... your Spirit hears a lot...
Practical advice:
His voice is in the Bible, your heart, your desires to love him, Saints that have spoken directly to him and your willingness to serve him...
Don't worry God has you in the palm of his hand and unknown to you is leading you into your life .. remember this and you'll be doing the will of God... have Mercy on everyone, no matter what they do forgive them and pray for them... Contemplate the Death of Jesus, a lot... if you have more than you need remember the poor and always give thanks for everything in your life that is good....
This is how you hear his voice clearly.. when you do his will, you will hear his voice in a different way.. it's a journey and we pick up things along the way not at the start of the journey but on the journey.. so relax trust God and enjoy the Pilgrimage.. there's no better journey than to know this life is not the true life.
Also If God is drawing you towards Catholicism, I would recommend going to places like Catholic Answers and you'll find a wealth of knowledge on every subject.. take a look and see if God is calling you this way or maybe not... God has you regardless of the tribe you join. Can I recommend a Saint for you , we catholics have many words given to us from Jesus through many of his Saints.. this one is for our days..Jesus has extended his hand of Mercy for these days as a last resort..God Bless

I haven't started reading it yet. I wanted it to start it from the coming year.
Yesterday when I was moving the journal, I accidentally opened a page and lemme quote the words.
'He chose you. Regardless of how it happened, he called you by name, and now you are his''
Feeling blessed ❤️
What sign did you receive?

Hi!😊 Who confirms a number of times? God or the disciple?
I don't quite understand. Why doesn't God make his will clear to everyone? If God has a purpose for you, why doesn't he come out and say it?
@@sethjohnson5726 Because God respecs our free will. God does not want to force you to make a decision and most often He wants you to make the decision by reviewing the circumstances by yourself because you take the responsibility for your choice afterwards. That's how we can be saved, by choosing the right decision with our free will and with independent responsibility. He's giving us freedom but also responsibility to choose.

God bless you father! I've been following your videos for years and have found a lot of great advice, both practical and spiritual!
GOD bless u all pls spread His Holy word amen.❤️🕊✝️💝
When a lady meets a nice young man and thinks, "He would be great for my niece." Then, 6 months later the niece meets him through a computer dating service. He asks, "How did you get my phone number?" The niece says, " Through a dating service." The young man says, "That can't be right. My membership expired a year ago." For ME THAT is a sign.
It is also a true story of how I met my husband. We were married for 32 years before he passed away. I only wish I had had more time with him, but it was great while it lasted.
"Doing God's will is everything "... 😍😍
It reminds me about what my friend priest said to me in discerning your vocation, at the end of the day it is your decision to make, to go or not go.
Sobering point of view father thank you
I was dead set on joining the military as soon as I left school, I’ve always been healthy no problems. But all of a sudden in my last year of highschool I was diagnosed with coeliacs, nothing deadly but a food allergy that stops me from joining. My faith has always been wavering but this sort of strengthened my faith and now I feel like I’m moving to the path of God like he’s helping me along the way.
God Makes All My Decisions! When I Need Things, God Throws Them In Front Of Me And I Always Say Thank You God!😊
Thank you for this timely video, Father. I'm currently discerning my religious vocation and your video is just the push I needed. Was putting off making a decision on this because it's a life-altering choice, to put it mildly. I'm still afraid but your explanation gave me the encouragement I needed. Thank you!
Good for you, hope the best for you!
@@freewild421 thank you!
thank you for having the courage to say yes to God’s call!
@@lukebrasting5108 thank you for the advice, good point! Unfortunately, I am unable to as I'm discerning the call to religious life (orders of religious nuns). I'll see though if they have more traditional orders. God bless!
Made a big life decision over a year ago and prayed and "saw signs" but still had doubts. What Fr said makes so much sense especially about the anxiety being more about not wanting to take responsibility for the decision. But a wise friend said to me, just remember that God is with you wherever you go and he can write straight with crooked lines. God bless Fr Mike and good counsellors who help, guide and even push us. Come what may God is with me and he's with you too.😊
Thank you. I should know this already, but it is so hard to apply. I‘m one of the anxious types and very indecisive. I could spend years wondering what I should do and then end up making any decision out of pressure and then feel miserable with it ☹️.
"A disciple of Jesus is a desion-maker " 😇 This change my perspective of a lots of things, thanksss!!!
I take this as a sign to stop procrastinating on a history paper and get it done and over with
What a wise man this great priest is! I admire his zest and depth.
Thank you father really helpful

I just realised that this is connected to the free will the Lord gives us....bless you Fr.
I have a big decision to make and this video just popped up. Crazy!
This video came across my path just in the nick of time. I have been struggling to make a decision and God spoke to me loud & clear. God's will is everything!!! Amen, to God be the glory. Thank you, Father Mike for posting this wonderful counsel of a message 🙏🏼
*Very insightful, thanks!* 😇
A comforting sight of Our Father and Our Fr. And how he helps us everyday.
I get signs from everwhere recently in my life. I cannot doubt anymore... I decided to take a leap of faith, abandon my doubt and atheist empty life and trust in God with whatever comes my way.
Father Mike is so good. He always seems to say exactly what I need to hear whenever watch a video or tune in. God bless 🙏
This is Great! Praise God! It changed me a bit in terms of decision making. "DECISION NOT BASE ON THE FEELINGS BUT ON THE FACTS."
Thank you Fr. Mike. God bless you! :)
Father, I am from the Philippines. I would just like to say that the videos here and the subject is severely underrated. Keep doing this, a mix of theology, Catholic doctrine, and life advice from time to time.
"Facts don't care about your feelings."
Now where have I heard that before? 😕😏
... sounds like something someone who married a doctor would say.
@@cbebop5 Oh it is? 😱 That is "Bentastic!" 😂😂😂😂😂

Perfect timing 💕
Thank you Father Mike, I am so blessed to have found you on here. God has blessed us with you.
This itself is a sign
Thank you father for this video.
Thank you for sharing Father
This is an eye-opener.... and definitely a sign! 😂
Jokes apart, this is an extremely insightful and helpful video! Thanks Padre!
These videos remind me of sermons. Excellent. & Thank you. God bless.
This is a great topic! Thanks!
Practical and holy! Make decisions based on facts. God gave us an intellect. Let's take responsibility. Wow. Thank you, Father Mike!
I’m glad you didn’t say you he always speaks in dreams
