      How much sunlight comes through the bubbles? Basically the Infred region is associated with the heat radiation, roughly 50% of the total. The other half is mainy visible and ultraviolet. So the short answer to your question is, if 100% light coming, 50% through and 50% turned into heat (bubbles act as heat sponge). How good is the insolation compared to 3 layer polycarbonate stacked together? The principle is to trap air in a relatively small but not too small regions to greatly reduce heat loss due to air movement. Static air is a good insolator itself but air movement reduces its effectiveness. 3 layer polycarbonate stacked together does not trap enough air in between. Not a good example to compare. Think how foam (not matter how you form the foam) works, that should help you.
