PyraPOD A4x4: while straight edge P4x4 is designed for DIY, this one will be made by professionals
P stands for Pyramid, A for Arch. Curved edge and surface gives us more room inside than the one with straight edges on the top. This allows us to make the iAVS sandponics grow beds 10 cm deeper and have more spaces in between adjacent levels. This design came into being when Richard conceived to place one PyraTIPI on each surface of a cube. Note that there is one inverted PyraTIPI in the ground, hidden from view, good for heat storage and other purposes. More info at pyrapod.org

承蒙青島欒先生的引薦和北京科技部葛處長的安排,來到了北京大興區華明振宇集團公司的駐地,先參觀了他們設在“長子營鎮留民營村”的大棚基地,在那裏的11號大棚采摘了沒打農藥的草莓(此棚是為著自己吃而預備的,什麽藥劑都沒打)。 然後由生態基地的負責人帶領,參觀了原來啟用而現在已經廢置的“留民營沼氣站七村沼氣聯供工程”的舊址。廢置的原因是北京禁止在城區有大型的養雞場,而這個沼氣站是用大量的雞糞為底料,廚余垃圾和樹葉為輔料,采用濕法產生沼氣的,沼氣的供應管道還都完好。所住的村子,裏面的設施新且全,所有室內的房間都采用了地暖加熱,溫暖如春。

All I can read is "Yesterday I came up with an idea to better make the fish tank: Get a piece of aluminum window screen that is the right size (the black one maybe better than the unpainted one)......" How does the rest of the comment go?

      That's it, nothing more. I am testing using both plastic and aluminum window screens to see which type works better with liquid silicone (Flex Seal). Will make a video about that.

      Humidity is controlled by means of our control of the inner skin temperature, which is liquid cooled and is therefore at the dew point temperature and is continuously condensing water vapor (mostly generated by the transpiration of the plant leaf canopy) - this converts “waste” thermal energy into valuable, pure Water-from-air. Note the nozzle at the peak of the Bubble Cavity that sprays downward and creates a thin flowing liquid film over the top of the inner skin. This liquid solar process and the Liquid Thermal Mass system are actually very effective and can operate to control the RH and temperature within the PyraPOD. This system can operate concurrently with the dynamic Liquid Bubble Insulation & Shading process during times of peak heating and cooling to reduce the loads by orders of magnitude comparative to any known “passive solar” concepts used in today’s so called “solar greenhouses”.

      Beside what Richard commented, I would like to point out that the soap liquid area, including the cavity areas associated, they are completely sealed and separated from the inner chamber. This way, the inner chamber is dry and warm. Richard explains how the inner chamber's temperature and humidity are controlled, hoping this is what you asked.

      Not at all. Just a pump that you use once every two hours and you do not need to pump water during the evening. Everything stops, which gives the whole system REST at night.

    I’ll add a couple of notes: this PyraDEMO is intended as a small scale model of the PyraTENT product - the actual dimensions are up to the builder, but would typically be about 2 ft square or half a meter on the sides. The geometry is based on equilateral triangles (arches of 60 degrees of arc) across the diagonal of the square footprint. The arches are likely 3D printed while the clear sheet material (polycarbonate) used for the outer and inner covers are cut from flat-patterns with water jet or by hand. The Cover assembly lifts off of the Floor + BubbleBlower assembly. The whole project is set in a basin (not shown) with a soap solution level that is deep enough to cover the pump but below the screen (the circular openings in the sidewalls of the BubbleBlower). The Floor seals off an interior space where a living plant can be placed. Other studies can be performed with this setup and it is easy to take apart and transport. Pyranauts can learn all the fundamentals of BubbleTech with this simple, small and low cost PyraDEMO.

    The bed is made of plastic foil. I had the problem that mice ate the foil and the sun ate the foil after a year. I'm here in Namibia Africa and the damp sand keeps everything cool, so very good system. Does anyone have a tip?

    Is this a continous flow sand bed??? I was wondering if it was possible to do that... almost like a channeled NFT and gets absorbed by sand. Do you have any root rot from this way?

      No, the water is pumped once every two hours. The point is to get enough hair and moisture to the root. This is the best and easiest system I have ever seen after testing it for 4 years.

I have just embarked on incorporating a sandbed into my scoria and clay balls aquaponics, maybe even convert and upgrade everything and go with just sand. Have you any experience with jebao pumps by the way? If i cant come up with a cheap jerry rigged version i will buy their wifi control pump, from an app on your phone you can control timing and pump output.

      For sure. In Africa, you do not need the soap bubbles, just pump the water the top of the inner skin and let it flow down to form a water film to cool

      Easy, you place some stainless steel mesh at the outlet, then pile some small rocks before you add sand.

      I have left the Redwater Alberta site as it is getting too cold. Angus the owner is continuing the project. He is planning to get the foundation done so that we can continue the rest next spring. I come back to finish my backyard project before winter (BC is relatively warmer)

    Justin, I can’t wait to see the bubble version. Also, I hope you might get comparative data when you have a similar volume of thermal mass in the form of water. It could be water in a sealed container or water that is open to the atmosphere inside the enclosure.
