I cannot believe that anybody could watch the early seasons and fail to notice that Robyn deceived the other wives by pretending to shop for her wedding dress with them when she really had gone shopping with Kody, told Janelle she was looking for work when in fact she had an agreement with Kody that she would stay home, that she scuttled Meri's plans to return to college. And you would have to be brain-damaged to think Meri's divorce from Kody was Meri's idea, or that Kody adopting the kids and Robyn becoming the sole legal wife was Meri's idea. Meri was sobbing while she signed the papers.
Then you have to have missed how the move to Las Vegas was because Robyn's father lived there, and the move to Flagstaff was because Dayton was going to college there.
And then Robyn's house hunting began. And she couldnt rent a house, they found a rental that was perfect but she said no because it was in a different school district (which was BS because Arizona has been an open enrollment state since the 90s) and the only house anywhere that met her specifications was a mansion across the road from their property on Coyote Pass.
It wasnt until the most recent seasons that we saw Janelle and Savannah living out there in an RV with no running water, and driving to Christine's house to haul water. They couldn't take showers at Robyn's house or run a garden house across the road?
Go back and watch the early episodes again and pay attention this time.
watch The other wives' reactions to the news that Kody picked the wedding dress, that they kissed before marriage, that they had decided Robyn wouldn't work. See if you can still find the clip where Robyn is walking up to the house in Lehi for a birthday party and viciously kicks the poor old dog who was wagging his tail in greeting. Watch the forum they participated in with Christine's aunt where Robyn was just plain rude, called her "Sweetie" in a condescending manner.
Watch the episode where Robyn gave her purity speech and tells her kids their father raped her and they should never have been born.
Watch her give Maddie hell for wanting to leave the AUB, and when she told Maddie if she didnt sign the family mission statement she would have to move out.
I am astonished to hear anybody say they saw all this and didn't notice what a terrible person Robyn is.
SHE KICKED THE DOG, fer cryin' out loud! The dog didnt live long after that.

A short list of Robyn Brown's "villain" actions, imo
-insisting on 1/4 of the nights before the were married
-kissing before marriage (not making sure the other wives were ok with the physical aspect before marriage)
-knowingly joining a rough and tumble family when she knew she was a total overprotective mama hen to her own children. She never had any intention of incorporating or blending the families
-letting Kody choose her wedding dress after dress shopping with the wives
-11 day honeymoon, while Christine had a newborn (other wives had 3-4 day honeymoons)
-never working, despite having a nanny/ childcare, and coming into the marriage with significant debt
-not allowing her children to be cared for by other moms or participating in caring for other kids (besides Mykelti, who she used for babysitting)
    -kicking the dog
-forcing her children to call Kody "daddy"
-stealing Christine's family picture with Kody to create weird alternative history art with her and her own kids
    -the purity speech
-getting mad that Maddie didnt want to be a polygamist
-trying to control the religious decisions of all the teens, while not even being willing to... feed them
-going on a second honeymoon to Hawaii with Kody and just her kids after the legal wedding, supposedly from her saved grocery money (she has fewer children and admits that they dont eat very much, and she doesnt have the other kids over to eat and has "DON'T TAKE FOOD WITHOUT ASKING" signs in her kitchen)
-getting mad that Hunter didnt "look" happy about baby Solomon
-making Kody miss seeing Logan graduate by purposefully coming late, getting lost, then insisting he leave the ceremony to find her
-starts a vanity company without a good product, business plan, or money, taking away time, energy and resources from other potential endeavors
-manipipulates Meri into not going back to school to pursue her dreams. Insists she needs her for My Sister Wives Closet
-do not be fooled by the supposed offer of surrogacy, she knew Kody had no intention of letting her do that, even if it was what Meri wanted
-almost never actually does anything for her sister wives (all talk and tears, no actions), literally no sacrifice ever
-jabs about her weight vs theirs
-being a fake friend to Meri, not calling her or having her come over during Covid, despite Meri following all the rules (claiming that J&C would be jealous)
    -literally everything is about her

      - ruining the kids gift exchange by getting overly involved and insisting on a zoom call
-not letting Meri have Christmas eve pajama night at her house (or letting her invite any of the rest of the kids over)
-not thinking to invite Savanna over for 2nd Christmas when Truley, Ysabel, and Mykelti were over
-not telling Meri that Ysabel was in town (knowing that even though Mykelti and Meri have issues, Meri cares for/about Ysabel)

The fact that he’s estranged from most of children from his first 3 wives is very telling. Once Robyn came in she was given him the “honeymoon experience “ this was the kind of marriage Robyn said she wanted. Robyn explained she wanted to devote all her time and attention to Kody when he was with her like what her mother did. In the meantime, he had 3 other established marriages that were not based on this worshipping of him. They were doomed to fail.

And there are some very honest and damning information on offer here and your insights are very enlightening. He also muddies the truth too and for those that watch the show these are hilarious. I don’t know how you don’t see Robin’s manipulations/her being a destructive person from the beginning! She really “needed” Kody to be there for every 4’th night, even though they were not married, they were kissing and making out before they were even engaged, and I understand the accepted rule was first kiss only after engagement, then Kody chose her wedding dress after she made sister wives think it will will be the dress that they saw; and last thing is 11 day honeymoon when the other wives had 3-4 days honeymoons! And Truely was just a baby then! Now Kody cannot leave “tender age” children, aka Robin’s children for more than couple of days! Also, Robin NEVER worked and is getting a lion share of their finances, like 2 wives, Mari and Janelle gave proceeds of their Las Vegas homes to buy Robin’s huge house! She came with 32K debt that OG wives paid for her, and she NEVER worked! Furthermore, she always had someone to help her with kids, starting before they married! Later she had a nanny, while Christine homeschooled and raised herself 12 kids!!!! All by herself, and at some point worked nights!!!
There are more examples of Robin requiring a special treatment, and you do not have any problems with that and do not see her being a destructive person for the family?

I believe that's how the religion came to be in the first place. Joseph Smith slept with a 14 year old and came up with some elaborate tale to make it acceptable. He was a pedophile, abuser, liar and false prophet. We are seeing the harm unbridled lust has on families. Jesus said men were to have 1 Wife. Jesus also said if you look upon another woman with lust you have committed adultery in your heart. Kody here excuses that lust as natural. It is not natural it is a sin. Jesus said it was a sin. However, in the first few seasons (knowing what we know now) her actions in those early episodes do hit different. I do believe she is manipulative (intentional & unintentional) . Also, the inequitable treatment Kody gave her and her children, and then his children with her, as opposed to the other wives and children. From the first seasons of the series, Robyn's behavior towards the children of other wives has stuck in my mind. The family was not wealthy at the time and it was not easy for the children when the father brought a new wife into the family with three children, a lot of debts and no job, and wanted to spend most of his time with his new family. Moving to Las Vegas was practically like a divorce for the children: the children were separated from their siblings and the father had a new family. Robyn showed no sympathy whatsoever in the situation. On the contrary, she complained basically all the time about everything; the other wives and the children were not respectful enough towards her, did not take her feelings and desires into account enough. A person who is an adult and a parent in a family should never treat minors this way. But Robyn was all that mattered to Robyn.

All the wives were in shock and Christine was heart broken, because she never had that intimacy with Kody regarding their marriage since she was the 3rd wife.

For some reason, it suddenly became very apparent to me that Robyn NEVER ONCE acknowledged that anything was her fault. Never once. In fact, she could somehow turn any situation into HER being the victim, no matter what she had done to contribute to the situation. It blew my mind that her manipulation had worked on me the first time I viewed the series. Now, I would never claim that she is evil, or even a terrible person. I have followed the Brown family for many years. My engagement with the show wained during the Covid years. When when I tuned back in I was kind of surprised to see that it had all fallen apart. But then it occurred to me, the most devoted small monogamous families, with the most love and happiness struggled hard during the Covid years. Many didn’t make it. There were fissures in my own immediate family and my extended family both during the Covid years. Between the lock downs, the vaxx & mask mandates, the school closures, the job loss, the economic hits, and more, it was a very hard time to stay intact for even a small family. I barely made it out of Covid married. It made us all see, really see, the ugliest parts of our spouses, parents, siblings, children, and extended family. There was a seismic shift in friendships, allies, enemies, in groups, and out groups. I think that Covid ruined this family the same as it ruined families all over the planet. We all just got to see this one in real time. I don’t know anyone who came out of the christmas season of 2021 without scars.

This was really insightful as far as the religious aspect of the conversation, thank you! While I 💯 agree with you that the main problem in this family was bringing a young wife into an established 15 year marriage as well as Kody’s behavior toward Robyn; there have still been instances where it is clear Robyn was working with Kody for an individual marriage and never in accordance with the other wives. The wedding dress, the pregnancy immediately upon arriving in Vegas before even having dwellings were the first two clear manipulations and then over the years there have been many clear discrepancies between how Robyn wanted and did raise her children compared to and in some cases, against, the original wives’ values. Although the COVID rules may not have been Robyn’s, there is no doubt they were clearly inspired by Robyn’s beliefs and fears. Lastly, Robyn’s manipulation of Kody’s time by letting him know her kids couldn’t be without him for more than two days, even when both his child and grandchild were going through life altering surgeries.

    I REALLY LOVED THIS EPISODE!!
I’m from a city in Texas, approximately 40 miles due North of Houston, and we really don’t have a heavy Mormon community here. I’ve honestly only known maybe 3 Mormon followers personally in my entire life (43 yrs). That being the case, I don’t have a very broad base of knowledge concerning the Mormon faith.
I felt like y’all shed more light on the principles of the faith for me, in a mere 57 minutes into this video, than I have gleaned from countless hours of watching other videos by other creators. It may simply be the fact that y’all aren’t trying to disparage their belief system, but neither do y’all seem to be promoting it. I have a difficult time listening to content creators that seek only to attack a specific faith, because I don’t respond well to criticism of something that others are so passionate about. On the other hand, as a Southern Baptist, who grew up attending a private Christian school (with an obvious Biblical foundation), I also don’t appreciate having another religion “forced down my throat.”
I genuinely feel that you two do a great job of presenting facts, and even presenting explanations as to the beliefs and behaviors associated with the Mormon faith, without an uncomfortable, overt bias in either direction.
I just wanted to commend the two of you 😊❤

I truly truly appreciate so much how you guys conduct yourselves on This channel. I don’t feel my beliefs being attacked or belittled. So I have a few thoughts. I agree with Kody on a very few things, unfortunately the following stupid things he said made me forget what they were. Secondly maybe I have the wrong mindset, but I don’t live plural marriage to perfect myself, I am trying to overcome my earthly weaknesses, I’m trying to weed out my selfish desires. I don’t view that as striving for perfection. Yes Jesus died so that we will be forgiven, but remember many times in the Bible He says go and sin no more, which I really feel that’s overlooked. I’m simply trying to sin no more.
As far as having a successful happy plural marriage really comes down to every person in the relationship needs to be willing to give up a little bit of themselves.
If one wife is super happy and the other one isn’t but is still there, maybe the husband needs to ask himself why.
Kody drives me nuts with his exclusive thesaurus that doesn’t make any sense.
It makes me so sad when people use the word cult descriptive of any religion.
In conclusion, I’ve learned nothing new about my faith from Kody Brown.

Not all religions are cults. One special feature of a cult is that the lives of the people who belong to it are very precisely regulated and determined by the church/church leaders.
      All the best for you!

Scientology is most definitely a cult but it doesn’t deserve to be called a “religion”. They only do that for the tax exempt status. That’s the one major exception to me as far as a religion being a cult.

I read a book a book three years ago... Anna Lebaron "The Polygamist's Daughter". Anna was the daughter of Ervil Lebaron... They did a movie about his story "The Prophet of Evil" (starring Brian Dennehy and William Devane) .. Anna Lebaron is related to Christine Brown of "Sister Wives". Ervil Lebaron makes Warren Jeffs look like a saint. Wondering if you have read her book or dived into that whole story.

Sobyn must be making him go to therapy!💯 Also feels like they got a PR team that is actually trying to help his image now that him & the wives are so seperate. I think they all used the same PR before. I have notived it does seem like they are all using seperate teams now. Still think he's a narcissist thru & thru tho. Loved this video, one of the best yous have put out on Kody & the show to date! I guess we owe that to Kody since was actually honest for once!💯❤

The fake crying when she didn't get her own way and is about to be held accountable for her actions. The manipulations just go on and on with her.

@1:00. Defining success in marriage as staying together is typical of monogamous marriage too. I know 0 polygamists. I know sooooo many people who have unhappy marriages but consider divorce a failure so they stay trapped in that dynamic. I know so many women whose self esteem is wrecked by a divorce. I went to a Catholic wedding where a grandparent of one of the newlyweds gave a speech about the importance of marriage being forever, was asked, "you've been together 50+ years, what's your secret?" The answer: "Well, we didn't think there was any alternative." ... This was presented as inspiring, and I was scratching my head. Honestly, although I know people in happy marriages, I don't understand what the concept of marriage is adding to those relationships. When a relationship lasts 10 or 30 or 50 years, that's worth celebrating! All that fixating on 50 years from the beginning does is make people reluctant to leave the bad relationships; I don't see how it adds anything to the good ones. ... It appears to me that the valuing of longevity over quality is inherent to the idea of marriage as such, not just to polygamy. I say this with all due respect to the people in my life who really cherish the idea of marriage, but I feel it's worth pointing out on behalf of all the people who could have been happier without that concept dominating their goals and ideas of a successful life.

Seems like the only aspect of the religion Kody was interested in was the multiple wives, watching the show its clear they didn't practice all aspects of the religion only the parts they wanted to, alcohol and caffeine are both frowned upon in both the LDS and the AUB, family involvement is encouraged strongly in both, started the seasons strong it that aspect but in later seasons that went out the window completely. I have many friends in the LDS church and they have family night and numerous activities during the week they attend. I dont agree with their religion but do admire how family is really important.

    • @NormaJean951
      @NormaJean951 11 месяцев назад +4

Family is not important to them. If your child leaves you berate them. If your child is gay you throw them out. They lock their teens up in camps out in the wilderness for not obeying absolutely. You’re delusional if you think family is important to your Mormon buddies.

    • @Boudicea97
      @Boudicea97 11 месяцев назад +2

@@NormaJean951 my Mormon friends have a child who came out as Trans where the church doesn't support them their parents do, Mormons like every other religion have levels of personal beliefs that differ from their religious, not all Mormons are hard core. Im saying my friends have a strong belief in their family whether they would have it involved in any other religion perhaps, to call some delusional because of having friends that belong to a religion and admire their strong family values is pretty ignorant, I said friend not the religion which is something I personally don't agree with, I personally judge the person and not their religious beliefs.

Since Kody talks about evolutionary psychology, and that's more or less what my degree is in (environmental biology and psychology), I'll touch on this. There does seem to be a benefit to men sleeping around and fathering as many children as possible. That is why these men exist. However, human children take an INCREDIBLE amount of time, effort, and resources to raise, and it is very beneficial to have more than one parent raising them, especially if those parents are able to create a consistent and loving atmosphere for the children. When we use the phrase "survival of the fittest", we're not actually referring to physical fitness or the stronger man winning a deadly fight or anything like that. We're referring to ecological fitness, which is essentially a measure of the number of offspring that live to reproductive age. So survival of the fittest isn't really about the survival of any one individual, but a survival of the genes that get passed on to the next generation. Anything that increases that ecological fitness will get passed on, so if a person is genetically inclined to father as many children as possible with many different women and at least one of them survives to reproductive age and has at least one child, whatever genes that may have promoted that behavior will be passed on. But the reality is that humans do much better with consistency, and the kids of monogamous, committed parents are much more likely to survive to reproductive age and have children who also survive to reproductive age, etc. So some men are naturally inclined to reproduce with as many women as they can, but many (probably most) men aren't. Just like some people have blue eyes and some have brown.

Yeah but that was BEFORE we were even HUMANS- and then the social system was all worked out when humans lived collectively in tribes and small villages. NOW we live in ever increasing cities and have huge mobility…For me as a woman…being single -staying single definitely has had an advantage. And the breakdown of my toxic family was a good thing. -So all opposite of what I was told to expect. Single at 62 and watching the wrecks of my friends marriages-feels like I dodged a bullet. 2 friends were killed by their husbands. So we don’t know what to expect right now from evolution. I do think it’s interesting that we caught the DNA sequencing at a pivotal time before every nation’s cultural groups were dispersed and remixed. Population dilution is sad but also interesting.

Hi. Bi sexual here. I just wanted to say that I find both men and women attractive but the only person I want to or try to sleep with is my wonderful husband of 10 years. You can be both attracted to people and completely faithful to a monogamous relationship. I don't know if he thinks being attracted to someone is cheating? But it is offensive to hear a grown man be so immature about sexuality. 🙄 thanks for coming to my TED talk lol

Monogamous/bonded animals include swans, European beavers, bald eagles, coyotes, Canadian geese, puffins, California condors, gentoo penguins, albatrosses, gibbons and more. These are animals know that two parents are required to raise their offspring successfully. Monogamy for the survival of their bloodlines. From what I've seen polygamy focuses on the number of children not the emotional and physical health of the children that you have.

I personally disliked Robyn from very early in the show, but it had nothing to do with her destroying the family. I thought her treatment of the other wives' children was emotionally abusive. By season 2 she seemed to have singled out Hunter as a personal nemesis with how often she would complain about his face and existence bothering her. There was also a scene that was quietly removed that looked like Robyn kicked the dog in the background. You could probably have only seen it if you watched live which I did. I think a lot of Robyn's more egregious behavior towards animals and kids was quietly removed by the show after the backlash. I think in season 6 she said she regrets having her three oldest children and that they were a horrible mistake that ruined her purity. Let me know if that's tones down now.
The family was possibly falling apart no matter what though. And frankly I don't think most of the parents treated the kids well. That show was uncomfortable to watch and Robyn was only part of it.

And it was a tough experience for them to move to Vegas, to be separated from each other and their friends. But no, Robyn only saw herself in everything. Only she was important.

It wasn’t until they moved to Vegas and Robyn got pregnant that I started noticing things with her. And then in later seasons she will play dumb when someone calls her out for her behavior, she almost gaslights the other women.

Kody has always given me the feeling that he wasn’t in polygamy for the “right” reasons, and he has given me a creepy feeling since the beginning. He just always seemed to be acting the life and not as genuine as other LDS appear to be. In the beginning I never felt he wanted to start the show to shed light on living polygamy but I have felt like he started the show for the money and fame aspect. Maybe way back in the day he started polygamy because it was what he thought he was supposed to do but I don’t feel he was deeply called to follow the life, more like he did it’s because he was “supposed” to watch to.

Keep watching. The problematic elements were in place from the beginning but it was subtle. In this interview Kody acts like his honeymoon with Robyn was equivalent but it wasn’t. The rest had local long weekends. Robyn had 11 days in Hawaii. Robyn called Kody back to her for “emergencies” on other wives dedicated time and insisted Kody not ever spend more than 2 nights at a time away from her house because her little children need him. Meanwhile Truley is around the same age and now has less time with her dad.
