My Metroid Dread Experience

The almost 20 year wait for a new 2D Metroid is finally over. While I hadn't followed the series early enough to experience the full wait, I was excited to play Dread nonetheless. And my playthrough was full of all manner of emotions and wild experiences that I wanted to recount them all.

I think Metroid Dread hits a great balance between intuitive and difficult. I managed to figure out how to do almost everything on my own, but I still felt legitimately and fairly challenged throughout.

I think the only thing I didn’t really like about this game is that I felt RavenBeak had a little too much health, even for a final boss. Everything else was pretty fair despite the space jump timing being kind of finicky during experiment Z57 fight

Metroid Dread just might be my favorite Metroid game out of the ones I've played. I think Super Metroid is a bit overrated. I love Samus Returns. I like Prime 3 even though my hand hurts from playing it, and I unapologetically like Other M. But Dread might be the best of the bunch for me. It was hard and some of the puzzles felt like bullshit at times, but the experience was still great from start to end. Let's hope Prime 4 follows suit, assuming we ever get it.
