I'd consider spraying the kidney grills when you do the front bumper so they're color matched. I think that would look better than the black or chrome. I don't care much for the silver or amber side markers really. Maybe you could find some that are clear like the new lenses you put on the headlights or maybe a light smoked color then do the thin side markers to match but that's just my opinion. Keep up the good work guys, the car is looking great and that cut and polish made a big difference. Can't wait til you start the engine mods!
Who gives this a thumbs down? I mean honestly? Also, go the silver kidneys and clear indicators. It would be good if you could dial back the brightness of the indicators a tad, they're drawing attention away from the high beams which are where you want your gaze to linger.
I love how you guys have been building street/track cars! As most of us it would be really difficult to have a full track car. But want the best of both worlds!
I'm loving this build! Smoked amber corner lights with a dechromed car looks the best imo. Alternatively, a pretty cool in-between option is to use headlight smoke paint on the chrome for a bit more subtle "gunmetal" look. Also get black screws for the diffuser.
I love what you’re doing so far! Following this build very closely. I THINK I would consider the smoked corner lenses. Neither the clear or amber seem to work in my opinion. AND they’re cheap!
Normally I would lean more towards the amber lens but with all the yellow greatness going on you guys should go with the clear ones imo. What about chrome bezels and blacked out slats on the grille? Great vid guys keep it up!
Thank you @SpeedAcademy !!! I love your content. It really inspires me. Your garage videos are always done right. Almost a step by step how to kinda video without being too long. Keep up the great content. BTW.... definitely gotta go CF front lip to match the rear diffuser. And of course.... don't forget the wing 😄
I love the dynamica from both of you. I can dp with less bashing of the previous work from the previous owner. But as always, love the execution from you guys.
I think you guys should do, how you like best. You are the ones who will drive this car, and you build this for yourself. Moog said it best, "If YOU like it, it doesn't matter what others think."
In France we can have full yellow on cars (only oldtimers to early 90's though), main beams, high beams, fogs etc. Nearly every old cars I own have yellow lights. I think those are allowed in fog lights in some countries. It's a post world war thing if I remember. Great for look, not so much when it rains but on snow and in fog it's so good not to be be blinded by your own lights.
I can't help the mild sense of dread I feel watching the work going into this car before the check engine lights are diagnosed and sorted. You've got me watching every video though!
@@dancarlos1216 true but how bad will it be and would it stop a guy with a budget? I know this is high dollar themed build, but normal people need to know what they have before they bolt thousands of dollars to it. I'm not saying I'm not enjoying the build and the videos, I'm just saying there are some question marks with regard to this car.
Craig R. Normal people don’t buy project BMW’s if we are on a budget because we all know they are expensive. Also people that are more hands on with their cars aren’t as worried about the labor because they know they can complete the task no matter how complicated.
@@dancarlos1216 all I'm saying is that if you pull a car out of a swamp, you should find out and sort out what's wrong with it before you start bolting thousands of dollars of high quality parts to it. I don't think that's too controversial of a statement, but you are welcome to disagree. Cheers.
Craig R. Its probably going to have the engine and trans pulled and swapped with something else, they are building suspense to keep everyone tuned in. I’m willing to bet one US dollar on that!
Taping isn't just to keep polish off of plastic and rubber. It's also to keep the rubber/plastic residue from transferring to the pad and then screwing up the nearby painted areas as the polisher moves across the surface.
I like how he says “let us know down in the comments if we should do this or not” and then proceeds to do it immediately. He ruined those headlights they look horrendous now. Hopefully he goes back.
VEOptimization I dont think Ive ever seen a worse prediction. Not a single thing you said in your comment turned out to be true how stupid can you be lol
Depends on the side gills. But I vote chrome for both the grills and the gills to give contrast to the black and go with the wheels. And 100% no amber corners
Why not use a sidemarker tinting film to make the sidemarkers match the black/dark chrome look of the headlights? If you have the time to do some wetsanding, you can also use VHT Niteshades.
Looks like the BMW badge on the trunk is yellowing a bit, don't forget about it! Look into OEM CSL trunks too, it'll give it a proper supercar look and they're going for about $1,000 these days.
Front lip - I like the one buildjournal has on their white race m3 but I don't know what it's called. What kind of splitter options are you considering? CAE/RTD shifter? YES TO LIVE STREAM!
That rear diffuser looks awesome!! Been trying to decide if I should get one for my M3 but was going to go the CSL style but yours look sic!!! And the new lenses lift the front of the car so much but Dude the ‘Euro’ look light tints look a bit cheap tbh and we don’t have cars like that here in Europe. only really really old cars have those lights in UK so it’s not really a Euro look at all. Great vid though 👍🏻
I'm definitely voting for smoked corner lights. Clear ones don't match the headlights that well. The kidney grills, both black and chrome look ok, but I think that's a missed opportunity for some carbon fiber.
to replace the bosch original headlight lens you could have (I would say should have) got the Magneti Marrelli lens as they partnered with bosch ont eh AL lighting program that are OE, I do dig the yellow fogs, I have them on mine in the UK
Nice this Beamer is looking sick for sure. I still however thinks that I can set a killer time with the Miata during the Miata challenge let me on the show lol.
i reckon you should engine swap a S55 v8 from the e90 m3, so it sounds like the m3 gtr (plus a straight cut gears) edit: also add side exit exhuasts, single back suits jdm only in my opinion
I dunno. Anything with an inline 6 kinda makes sense for a single exhaust. No real performance reason to split it from one pipe to two unless the headers are 3-into-1 pairs, but since they should go turbo with this, that doesn’t make sense either...
Silver turn signals for sure hate the orange lol also silver grills! Love that diffuser too. I really want to get one for my Z3M but... can't find any companies that make them for that car unfortunately.
You should have used a rear diffuser for an M3 which has cutouts for a dual exhaust. Smoked corner lights and an European front bumper cover to get rid of the reflectors.
Chrome kidneys, dark side-repeaters. Get the black bolts for the rear diffuser. Ditch the yellow on the high-beams. Typical on french cars from the past. Get a titanium exhaust to lighten up the rear. :) Look into the carbon fibre rear trunk as well as a carbon fibre hood that you paint. Light weight, and "supercar" performance. :P
Did the same french hi beam mod to my e36 glass lights. A couple more coats would've given you a darker richer yellow color that looks better. Oh and do an exhaust clip with no muffler. Those cars sound insanely loud lol
for the corner lights / turn blinkers, don't go bright silver reflective or orange! do a smoked out color grey color to match the the rest of the headlight. it will look better than the silver and the orange
I definitely like the white/silver lights over amber. If only you could source some carbon kidneys... Those would look the part for supercar hunting. If not, maybe try that black again color matched to the body. Looked pretty cloudy/greyish tone on camera. I'd even try pure white just for kicks. There's a high chance it'd look tacky but you never know until you see it on the car. Just maybe it'd have that classic "white wheels on a rally car" vibe to it which I really like. I'd try with plastidip so I can peel it back if needed. I can't stand chrome trim but whatever works for you guys, at least the OEM look is pretty refined, even if not exactly to my taste.
Get black hardware for the diffuser, it looks weird with the silver bolts. Not very super car.
Good suggestion! Will look into some black bolts and washers.
@@speedacademy Awesome! :)
The chrome hardware looks more racecar. I'd keep it!
@@davidg4026 they aren't going for race car they done that. This is super car which should look clean as possible.
I have a feeling the black bolts will make it faster. Like supercar fast.
Get the oem kidney grill (Chrome bezel with black slats). I think smoked corner lights would go well with that.
Yellow headlights and foglight were mandatory in France... decades ago.
Good series though!
I prefer stock colored lights.
In fact, it was during WWII. It was to easily differenciate civilian vehicles from military ones which had white lights.
Use oem 325i base grills with chrome outer ring and black inner
William Cody or opposite colored one with black kidney outer ring & chrome fins
Would look much better either way
I love you guys letting us choose what to go with. It's like a modern day version of those choose your own story books.

Haha, love it! Pete showing his ricer side & judging so hard on those halos.
Amazing how it went from practically looking black to that purple hue coming alive!
Yes on the Yellow Flash ! Clear on the Blinks and Black out for Grills !!! That my set up !
I love how you guys have been building street/track cars! As most of us it would be really difficult to have a full track car. But want the best of both worlds!
Lightly smoked corner lights? They are way too bright
I'm loving this build!

Im glad i found this channel
Go full CSL man, front bumper (or lip if you keep the bumper) and trunk lid. Nice work guys!

that color is absolutely beautiful... looks like that GT-R color .. midnight purple!
White corners + chrome grills. Timeless

This video is peak BMW as it's mostly about looks.
The bosser hoods look dope on the e46
Am I the only one that noticed the carbon fiber core support? Is that stock??
The carbon fibre support on the back of the bumper was stock on the m3. On the regular cars that piece is metal.
Clear lights and chrome definitely looks better, it highlights the characteristics of the car, good job on the polish guys, looks great.
Wow the colour really pops out now thanks to the polish. Looking amazing
for the front bumper, look for a CSL Bumper, they look sooo much better

The yellow headlight looks marvelous I'm thinking of doing that to my Alpine white E39.
Looks good guys.
Something with a splitter! Cf to go with that rear diffuser.

Yellow fogs yes! Love it. Not just a euro thing, I had a JDM DC2 that had yellow fog lights
Yes boys! Great progress on this thing, I'm loving the build so far!
it looks so good after the detailing work! I say smoked turn signals, black reflectors, OEM kidney grill with chrome bezel/black slats.
Awesome series guys! Have a fair few episodes to catch up on :D
My all time dream car!!!! Ugh I hope I’m fortunate enough to have one in my garage one day! :)))
Clear and chrome for sure. It looks way better.
I really hope that the performance modifications involve the S54, and not just an LS/or similar swap...
youremostwelcome I’m with you man 👍
I agree boet
The paint came out so well!
Powder coat the wheels gloss white!! that contrast with the blueish purple will be insane!!!
Silver reflector and chrome grille, definitely.
I like how he says “let us know down in the comments if we should do this or not” and then proceeds to do it immediately.
He ruined those headlights they look horrendous now.
Hopefully he goes back.
Waiting for the supercharger or turbo, for this to actually be a super car killer.
@VEOptimization ouch... look how wrong you were!

Bill Billiams I know Ian 10 months late but what did he say.
Depends on the side gills. But I vote chrome for both the grills and the gills to give contrast to the black and go with the wheels. And 100% no amber corners
@speedacademy the blacked out is always best. In my opinion.
Love the headlights, blacked out grill, tinted or orange sides.
Changing to one giant offset exhaust tip is pretty much the least 'supercar' setup I can think of - that's more of a tuner car look.
It's not a supercar build. It's a supercar killer build. A large percentage of supercar homicides are not committed by family members.
@@frankthetankricard Fair enough, but they themselves keep talking about getting the 'supercar look' in the videos
Stay silver with the grills, I was planning on doing the yellow high beams and fogs on mine but chrome grills look classier on M3s
Yellow headlight looks cool. Many endurance race car use it. Clear corner is better than the orange one.
Looks like you guys aren't putting either indicator lenses lol smoked one all the way plus black kidney grills 👍👍👍
Gareth Marcus looks like you’re right!

Halos look much better than the yellow painted light reflector.
Dark chrome/black kidney grills and clear turn signal lights is my vote.
Shouldn't the center piece of the diffuser be behind the other piece instead of infront of it? Looks wierd because of the overlap.
The yellow headlights wouldn't be my choice, but it looks like you executed it nicely.
The CSL style front lip looks really good!
Really really enjoyed this video! Can’t wait to hear about the engine setup
So impressive how this car is coming out!! Well done guys! That rear diffuser looks good!! Ballers!! Haha
for those corner markers, maybe match the canary yellow lens but have an orange bulb?
Halo's for the E39 ONLY! The OG.

Smoked crystal side markers. Blacked out grills. And check if ac schnitzer had their lip available. I had it on my e36
Pro tip, just put in yellow high beam bulbs. Then you avoid the hassle of spray paint. The bulb color reflects and the whole reflector looks yellow.
Varis diffuseur is so cool!
use the same yellow paint make the side markers match the high and fogs i think that would look amazing
Definitely like the amber light better but would be even better if you could paint the clear ones with the same yellow in the high beams
IMO, for a supercar killer, the more beat-up it looks, the better
Loving this project guys! Awesome work.
325i base grills with chrome outer ring and black inner and amber turn signals

11:25 that Supra lurking in the back
The orange looks kinda good
Don't like the amber corner lights, but don't like the clears either, maybe tint the clears a little (carbon color)?
The chrome grille looks way better when you paint the outer surround black and leave chrome vertical slats
Needs a dark housing corner light or smoked Pete. not feeling the orange or silver. That way it looks like an extension of the headlight
11:11 New yellow BMW hiding in the background 😉
