Ford makes 20% margins off F-150 EV lightning ⚡️ But ford batteries 🔋 plants cost billions so every time they make money 💰 that goes to pay for their battery factory 🏭 ford already owns and has payed for a long time ago a engine factory. But ford also made a mistake ford delayed launch of f-150 because gas ⛽️ prices were low then gas prices spike ford two years later launched it and they did will old battery 🪫 technology that’s more expensive to manufacture lol 😂 when tesla and China was launching new cheaper tech ford was launching old outdated tech that cost more to produce so they scraped the old battery 🪫 and went with LFP
My suggestion to toyota was to do the hybrid as a method of doing 4 wheel drive. The electric motor runs the front wheels exclusively when you're going under 55. That way when you're toolin around town you save gas. Then when you are going over 55 or are towing or engage 4wheel drive now the gas motor is driving the back wheels while the electric motor can still run the front wheels. Everyone buys trucks because they need the power sometimes but not all the time. So why not divide and conquer? They thanked me for my idea and that will be the last we hear of it.

What this is all boiling down too. Is that no matter what they try to do To replace the V8, Statistically. Longevity wise, durability wise etc. The V8 outperforms. All other competition Engine choice wise. Etc. The v8 gods are speaking loudly. You just can't beat em.
Exactly. My dad's 4 cylinder turbo, 10 speed Ford Ranger gets 19mpg average 😂 the exact same as my 4.6 V8. But a 300 horsepower turbo and over complex transmission will NOT last as long. It just won't. Because of the firing order, the pistons/rods of the 4 cylinder are under 3x as much stress
It's so frustrating because all these car companies are making over engineered junk that breaks after a few thousand miles, and yet I see them everywhere. When are people going to learn that if you want companies to make better products, you don't give them any money?
Scotty maybe the most important part that you should have mentioned is the tundra engines are locking up by dozens a day! Who would buy a truck that has a recalled defective engine???
Same reason I bought the last of the old style Sequoias. 2022 was final year of the V8. New one wasn’t the same size and compromised rear seating and storage. Then this engine ordeal…
My 08 Tundra get about 17 mpg, and about 12 when I tow with it. I knew it when I bought it. I have 237,000 miles on it, and it runs drives and shifts like new. And I still get compliments on how good it looks inside and out. No way I’d trade it for the New Tundra. All that change and complexity added just to get 1 more mpg??? No thank you.
All for 18mpg.!! My 1999 Siverado Z71 with tonneau cover would 18 mpg at 80mph (South Dakota speed limit) On tax hungry Iowa bumpy 2 lane roads at 55mph average I would get up to 24.5 to 23.3mpg. My wife used to get so frustrated that my "big" pickup would stomp our later model Trooper II V6. IIRC the avg hiway mpg with the Trooper II was 13 to 15 mpg. I explained to her numerous times that little V6 has to work HARD lugging that heavy Isuzu around. Hard work needs more energy. That's not a hard concept if you've done really hard work yourself in life. City people listening to CNN will never understand the simplest of reality concepts. FWIW I had a 1986 Trooper 2dr and 1988 Trooper 4dr. Both were simple and reliable. But bona fide scary with gusty side winds. Pulling a heavy duty trailer loaded with deer for 400 miles on I-90 I could get 29mpg. But no way at 80mph. LOL
I'll be keeping my 03 Tundra as long as possible.. When I have to buy, it'll probably be used. Or whatever truck has a good, non - turbo laden V8. Over engineering is going backwards.
I’ve got a friend that has a Tundra 5.7 not sure of the year, he keeps up with the maintenance as needed/ required, over the years he’s bought everything and I mean every major component of the truck, either new or rebuilt , he has a rebuilt engine, new engine components ps pump, A/C components, etc etc etc new transmission, new seats, carpeting, just about everything but a frame and body, when he gets 500,000 miles he has a friend that is now or just recently retired who is going to make him a new truck, he started buying these things when his truck was three years old , he just kept making “ a truck payment “ to a savings account, pretty soon he’ll have a new truck that he feels will be his last vehicle, already paid for using the “ truck payment fund” it’s a grey color right now but it’s gonna be the new green color that is on the brand new Tundra’s!
I've heard of laws being proposed that will make it illegal for mechanics to work on ICE cars. So, you'll be able to own an ICE car, you just won't be able to buy a new one or have the old one worked on.
The electric fans don't pump oil pressure through your turbo that is still spinning 80,000 rpm when you shut it off. Instant oil coked. Are we not going to talk about the engine failures from machining debris left in the engine during assembly? Screw you Toyota.
Possible Fix is addition of an oil accumulator with timed switch for preventing coked bearings. If I owned a vehicle with a Turbo, I would install a Moroso accumulator
@@scottmaness4449 In 1983 I was in the service dept of a Mitsubishi dealer. We performed a recall on four cylinder turbos. The factory sent us kits to install a run on switch timed to thirty seconds after the ignition switch went to off. It really worked out well.
Scotty... I tow a 10,000 lb camper across the country and boondock where I want to. Having leaf springs does not make my 2021 truck outdated or old tech. My I6 Cummins 3500 8' bed mega cab can haul my ATV in the bed and tow the camper and still only sag 2" with no load bars while getting 19 MPG... I'd get 7 or 8 MPG with the Toyota V8... No comparison...
Nissan don't make the titan anymore. Ford makes the 5.0 coyote and I think chevy still makes the 5.3 and 6.2 . If you step up to heavy duty truck you can still get a good v8 also.
Any new/newer vehicle in my opinion is a bad choice to purchase. Overpriced, plastic, cheap thin frames and sub frames ready to crack and rust out at anytime and soon to fail electronics to just name a few----- No thank you!
Yeah, I wouldn't bother with new trucks if you want reliability and durability. Just get the old trucks which are far better workhorses than the modern ones.
I very briefly worked at a Ram dealership, and would hear about the “HEMI Tick”. The armchair critics would say they all do it, or that it was an exhaust leak. Then I bought a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with 180,000 miles on it, and yes, it ticked. I began a massive tune up on it, and two of the 16 plugs were corroded away. About four of the plugs were in only hand tight: this was why it was ticking! Original plugs? Sabotage? I don’t know. The crazy thing was with 16 new plugs, it still ran the same. I liked that truck so much I bought a new one and like it even more.

Never thought I would see the day when someone would recommend NOT buying a Toyota Tundra. I completely agree. Toyota has lost the trust of many of us who were loyal to them for years. It will take a lot to get that trust back!
My boss bought a ford lightning and a few months later it drove itself into stopped traffic while using the adaptive cruise control. I prefer used cars where we know what the faults are
You know adaptive cruise is available on all Ford trims... Not just the ev. I've had a 94 Ford ranger. 99 F-150. 2005 stx F-150 and a 2021 F-150 5.0... I can personally say the adaptive cruise and blue cruise is amazing.
@brandonmacon3317 just because it works well for you doesn't mean it's a flawless system. And it changes over time with new vehicles coming out. Especially the most modern EV they produce. It literally caused a 3 car accident while the driver had all their weight on the brakes. I have owned a few fords and currently have an old crown Victoria, which I love. New cars haven't always had their issues uncovered yet.
Scotty still can't admit the Ford Lightning is better even after seeing all that power. 90% + of trucks have nothing in the bed so hardly anyone is hauling most of the time. Men buy trucks for the capability but hardly need that. They will sell more after they get the new model start up price down. $ .72 cent per gallon equivalent in charging at home gives you 4 or 5+ times the driving range of a gas guzzling truck for the same money. That alone sold me. Don't buy if you want a cross country long haul truck. Almost no one does.
Lesson from this video. There ain't no replacement for displacement. I highly recommend using Lucas in the Hemi. Keep hearing talk of Cummins making a gas version of the 6.7L. That might be a good alternative to the diesel and lack of a V8 because again, there ain't no replacement for displacement.
WD40 isn't a lubricant. They make a full line of products including lubricants. I used my dirt bike's chain lube on my 70 El Camino's hood hinges. Worked great. I used it on the door hinges and anything else that needed lube including carburetor linkage. Good motorcycle chain lube is waterproof and won't fling off.
Getting ready to say, none of the other full size trucks not getting good gm Actually, if he is getting 18 mpg, that's pretty good. I get 14 to 15 mpg in my 2017 tundra v8
23 tundra sr5 trd sport owner here (non hybrid motor). 75k miles, bought it with 6 miles on it. I drive all over the US for work, thus the high mileage. The turbo lag was definitely something to get used to but I dont even notice it now. I drive above speed limit (allegedly). Average 17-19mpg but if I go for best mileage I can easily do 21-22. Best I've done is 24mpg. Eco mode is less efficient than Normal, or even Sport. Mine does not govern out at 107 (allegedly).
Scotty, idling a diesel is an awful idea. That's how you build up soot and ruin your engine. Diesels need to be run hard or you'll have a nice bill down the road for repairs.
5.7 V8 Toyotas are King. I could buy a Defective new Tundra, but the old 2020 V8 5.7 TRDs are just so much better. Idc too much about 2-3 MPG, Especially if the engine will detonate.
Yes the new hybrid tundras are better but I like the old 2021and older Toyota V8 tundras better still. You buy a truck not for gas mileage for hauling and towing that's what truck are made for.
I'll never own anything newer than 2005. Period. All these new rolling couches with touch screens and 50 onboard computers can suck it. Small engines in these trucks that are overworked and don't last anymore. You can keep it all.
My local dealership called me and offered me $18K for my 2014 Tundra 5.7L and I told them "sure! Don't forget the $10K mark-up so that'll be $28K because mine is in high demand... cash preferably!" shut them up real quick 😂 Glad I bought mines $32K out the door when they had to "move the lot" 😂🤙🤙🤙
My 2021 Tundra double cab with an 8 foot bed consistently gets 14 mpg with a 6 speed transmission. Makes me think they could have improved the v8 a little, mounted to the 10 speed and be in the same ballpark of fuel economy as their crappy v6.
So they do all of this crap, jack up the price 20k... for what? Slightly better mpg?! Put a NA V8 in it, let me keep the extra money, and I'll use that 20k for gas. I just don't get it lol. I'm guessing our government is worried about oil supply which is why they are trying to make vehicles "more efficient", but I wonder how much oil is used when transporting and drilling for the precious metals used in crappy electric and hybrid cars. Don't even get me started on emissions lol
EVERY time I go to Toyota, I tell them (and the workers in the maintenance dept agree) that fewer people are buying new Tundras largely due to their abandonment of the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) by replacing a proven V8 with garbage, ESPECIALLY since they have a whole fleet of cars w/hybrid tech to increase the overall fleets mpg to appease the govt. They also ask nearly wkly to trade in my 2018 V8 with less than 54K mi. Their sales dept hears the same response...no way, I'll not consider until they at least offer a V8.
I have a 2023 tundra and I have never had a minutes problem with it. I pull a lawn care trailer with it every day and regularly pull a 50hp tractor with it. Truck has never needed anything done to it other than changing the oil
I have a 2006 Toyota tundra sr5 4.7L V8 with 317k miles it doesn’t leak oil or burn oil, ac still blows cold 🥶 no check engine light 💡 plus it’s lifted with king 👑 coilovers in front and fox in back with original engine and original transmission I’ve replaced the radiator and a couple other parts but it’s running perfect and I hope I can get it to 500,000k miles just on fluid changes 💪🇺🇸🇯🇵😂
Anytime i see a chip, i run.I miss my 80 F150 300 six 4x4. I once drove it 30 miles out of the desert from near Glamis to the AZ border with no water after a fan blade went through my radiator. It dropped 7lbs of oil pressure but 100k later it was still running. I only got 15mpg but so what. It drove like a truck, it rode like a truck cause IT WAS A TRUCK!
Complete dogggggg woof I think the 5.4 is a total dog too and horrible on gas. I have a 18 ram with the 5.7 I’ve gotten 18+ per gallon its whole life idk what Scotty is talking about.
Every 2x4 WD MOPAR I ever owned was UNBELIEVABLE BAD when it comes to snowy, icy or muddy driving. Unacceptable for me in NH. MOPAR 4x4 does well traction wise.

Exactly. My dad's 4 cylinder turbo, 10 speed Ford Ranger gets 19mpg average 😂 the exact same as my 4.6 V8. But a 300 horsepower turbo and over complex transmission will NOT last as long. It just won't. Because of the firing order, the pistons/rods of the 4 cylinder are under 3x as much stress

My 08 Tundra get about 17 mpg, and about 12 when I tow with it.
I knew it when I bought it. I have 237,000 miles on it, and it runs drives and shifts like new. And I still get compliments on how good it looks inside and out.
No way I’d trade it for the New Tundra. All that change and complexity added just to get 1 more mpg???

All for 18mpg.!! My 1999 Siverado Z71 with tonneau cover would 18 mpg at 80mph (South Dakota speed limit) On tax hungry Iowa bumpy 2 lane roads at 55mph average I would get up to 24.5 to 23.3mpg. My wife used to get so frustrated that my "big" pickup would stomp our later model Trooper II V6. IIRC the avg hiway mpg with the Trooper II was 13 to 15 mpg.
I explained to her numerous times that little V6 has to work HARD lugging that heavy Isuzu around. Hard work needs more energy. That's not a hard concept if you've done really hard work yourself in life. City people listening to CNN will never understand the simplest of reality concepts.
FWIW I had a 1986 Trooper 2dr and 1988 Trooper 4dr. Both were simple and reliable. But bona fide scary with gusty side winds. Pulling a heavy duty trailer loaded with deer for 400 miles on I-90 I could get 29mpg. But no way at 80mph. LOL
I found a 93 GMC suburban with 50k. I think I'll get it. No bells or whistles. These new trucks seem too delicate and temperamental.

I'll be keeping my 03 Tundra as long as possible.. When I have to buy, it'll probably be used. Or whatever truck has a good, non - turbo laden V8. Over engineering is going backwards.
I’ve got a friend that has a Tundra 5.7 not sure of the year, he keeps up with the maintenance as needed/ required, over the years he’s bought everything and I mean every major component of the truck, either new or rebuilt , he has a rebuilt engine, new engine components ps pump, A/C components, etc etc etc new transmission, new seats, carpeting, just about everything but a frame and body, when he gets 500,000 miles he has a friend that is now or just recently retired who is going to make him a new truck, he started buying these things when his truck was three years old , he just kept making “ a truck payment “ to a savings account, pretty soon he’ll have a new truck that he feels will be his last vehicle, already paid for using the “ truck payment fund” it’s a grey color right now but it’s gonna be the new green color that is on the brand new Tundra’s!
I've heard of laws being proposed that will make it illegal for mechanics to work on ICE cars. So, you'll be able to own an ICE car, you just won't be able to buy a new one or have the old one worked on.

The electric fans don't pump oil pressure through your turbo that is still spinning 80,000 rpm when you shut it off. Instant oil coked. Are we not going to talk about the engine failures from machining debris left in the engine during assembly? Screw you Toyota.
Possible Fix is addition of an oil accumulator with timed switch for preventing coked bearings. If I owned a vehicle with a Turbo, I would install a Moroso accumulator

@@scottmaness4449 In 1983 I was in the service dept of a Mitsubishi dealer. We performed a recall on four cylinder turbos. The factory sent us kits to install a run on switch timed to thirty seconds after the ignition switch went to off. It really worked out well.

Scotty... I tow a 10,000 lb camper across the country and boondock where I want to. Having leaf springs does not make my 2021 truck outdated or old tech. My I6 Cummins 3500 8' bed mega cab can haul my ATV in the bed and tow the camper and still only sag 2" with no load bars while getting 19 MPG... I'd get 7 or 8 MPG with the Toyota V8... No comparison...

Nissan don't make the titan anymore. Ford makes the 5.0 coyote and I think chevy still makes the 5.3 and 6.2 . If you step up to heavy duty truck you can still get a good v8 also.
Any new/newer vehicle in my opinion is a bad choice to purchase. Overpriced, plastic, cheap thin frames and sub frames ready to crack and rust out at anytime and soon to fail electronics to just name a few----- No thank you!
Yeah, I wouldn't bother with new trucks if you want reliability and durability. Just get the old trucks which are far better workhorses than the modern ones.
I very briefly worked at a Ram dealership, and would hear about the “HEMI Tick”. The armchair critics would say they all do it, or that it was an exhaust leak. Then I bought a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with 180,000 miles on it, and yes, it ticked. I began a massive tune up on it, and two of the 16 plugs were corroded away. About four of the plugs were in only hand tight: this was why it was ticking! Original plugs? Sabotage? I don’t know. The crazy thing was with 16 new plugs, it still ran the same. I liked that truck so much I bought a new one and like it even more.

My boss bought a ford lightning and a few months later it drove itself into stopped traffic while using the adaptive cruise control. I prefer used cars where we know what the faults are
You know adaptive cruise is available on all Ford trims... Not just the ev. I've had a 94 Ford ranger. 99 F-150. 2005 stx F-150 and a 2021 F-150 5.0... I can personally say the adaptive cruise and blue cruise is amazing.
@brandonmacon3317 just because it works well for you doesn't mean it's a flawless system. And it changes over time with new vehicles coming out. Especially the most modern EV they produce. It literally caused a 3 car accident while the driver had all their weight on the brakes. I have owned a few fords and currently have an old crown Victoria, which I love. New cars haven't always had their issues uncovered yet.

Scotty still can't admit the Ford Lightning is better even after seeing all that power. 90% + of trucks have nothing in the bed so hardly anyone is hauling most of the time. Men buy trucks for the capability but hardly need that. They will sell more after they get the new model start up price down. $ .72 cent per gallon equivalent in charging at home gives you 4 or 5+ times the driving range of a gas guzzling truck for the same money. That alone sold me. Don't buy if you want a cross country long haul truck. Almost no one does.

I have seen 0 Lightnings, several Foundation Cybertrucks, one red production Cybertruck, a few dozen Rivians, and thousands of Teslas.
Lesson from this video. There ain't no replacement for displacement. I highly recommend using Lucas in the Hemi. Keep hearing talk of Cummins making a gas version of the 6.7L. That might be a good alternative to the diesel and lack of a V8 because again, there ain't no replacement for displacement.

Looking at that engine compartment, I’m not sure anyone can touch this thang. Too much technology: and plumbing, for me.
WD40 isn't a lubricant. They make a full line of products including lubricants. I used my dirt bike's chain lube on my 70 El Camino's hood hinges. Worked great. I used it on the door hinges and anything else that needed lube including carburetor linkage. Good motorcycle chain lube is waterproof and won't fling off.
All the tech and energy put into this stuff, and an old V8 still works better and gets same gas mileage. Government intervention is useless.

23 tundra sr5 trd sport owner here (non hybrid motor). 75k miles, bought it with 6 miles on it. I drive all over the US for work, thus the high mileage.
The turbo lag was definitely something to get used to but I dont even notice it now. I drive above speed limit (allegedly). Average 17-19mpg but if I go for best mileage I can easily do 21-22. Best I've done is 24mpg. Eco mode is less efficient than Normal, or even Sport.
Mine does not govern out at 107 (allegedly).
Scotty, idling a diesel is an awful idea. That's how you build up soot and ruin your engine. Diesels need to be run hard or you'll have a nice bill down the road for repairs.

Yes the new hybrid tundras are better but I like the old 2021and older Toyota V8 tundras better still. You buy a truck not for gas mileage for hauling and towing that's what truck are made for.

I'll never own anything newer than 2005. Period. All these new rolling couches with touch screens and 50 onboard computers can suck it. Small engines in these trucks that are overworked and don't last anymore. You can keep it all.
My local dealership called me and offered me $18K for my 2014 Tundra 5.7L and I told them "sure! Don't forget the $10K mark-up so that'll be $28K because mine is in high demand... cash preferably!" shut them up real quick 😂

My 2021 Tundra double cab with an 8 foot bed consistently gets 14 mpg with a 6 speed transmission. Makes me think they could have improved the v8 a little, mounted to the 10 speed and be in the same ballpark of fuel economy as their crappy v6.
Nah, that's too many gears. Transmission will slip eventually. Leave it as is. Toyota knew what they were doing before the 3rd Gen.

EVERY time I go to Toyota, I tell them (and the workers in the maintenance dept agree) that fewer people are buying new Tundras largely due to their abandonment of the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) by replacing a proven V8 with garbage, ESPECIALLY since they have a whole fleet of cars w/hybrid tech to increase the overall fleets mpg to appease the govt. They also ask nearly wkly to trade in my 2018 V8 with less than 54K mi. Their sales dept hears the same response...no way, I'll not consider until they at least offer a V8.

I have a 2023 tundra and I have never had a minutes problem with it. I pull a lawn care trailer with it every day and regularly pull a 50hp tractor with it. Truck has never needed anything done to it other than changing the oil

I got a 2022 Ram big horn V8 it gets 18 mpg normally. Just driving around I usually get anywhere from 16 to 17 mpg
The only new truck that I would buy right now would be the F-150 with the V-8 and I wouldn't be too excited for that.
I have a 2006 Toyota tundra sr5 4.7L V8 with 317k miles it doesn’t leak oil or burn oil, ac still blows cold 🥶 no check engine light 💡 plus it’s lifted with king 👑 coilovers in front and fox in back with original engine and original transmission I’ve replaced the radiator and a couple other parts but it’s running perfect and I hope I can get it to 500,000k miles just on fluid changes 💪🇺🇸🇯🇵😂
Anytime i see a chip, i run.I miss my 80 F150 300 six 4x4. I once drove it 30 miles out of the desert from near Glamis to the AZ border with no water after a fan blade went through my radiator. It dropped 7lbs of oil pressure but 100k later it was still running. I only got 15mpg but so what. It drove like a truck, it rode like a truck cause IT WAS A TRUCK!
