Great video! I watched even though I have a Lariat and already enjoy the locking tailgate with my fob. I'm happy to see the install is relatively easy.
Did you have to enable the Ford Body Computer to turn ON the tailgate electric lock? In the past, adding anything even as simple as a plug in a Ford Brake Controller on my 2020 F150 had to have the Ford dealership enable the Brake Controller.
Nice video. I’m actually interested to know what brand soft close you used on the tailgate? I was going to purchase one from Ford, but if there’s a better one, please let me know. Thank you
@raulfonseca2303 hi there, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The tailgate assists are really simple. There isn't much to them and I'd say most of the offerings are generally the same. I purchased one off of Amazon that was fairly cheap and it has worked fine. amzn.to/4glvpXT
@gbitpal there is a "tailgate lock" that they used to have as a Ford Accessory add on in the build and it is actually a lock that keeps people from stealing your entire tailgate. It goes on the hinge. I'm pretty sure that an electric locking tailgate like what I added is only available with package upgrades and not separately.
Great Vid! Looking at a Maverick in the future with a Tonneau cover for keeping groceries or whatever in the bed. This is great to know that I could do this. How did you get the dampened tail gate? Is that stock or a mod?
@markcomisky7106 that's a good idea for anyone in the North or rustbelt. Also checking the air pressure in it every so often can save your butt. I don't have to worry about rust here in the southwest thankfully.
@davemail I'd say it should still work on a 25. That doesn't seem like any part of the vehicle they would change for the refresh and face-lift they did. If you end up giving it a go please post up your findings here for others with the same question.
@c7u3676 Hi, I'm not sure I understand your question. The mod will work on any maverick that doesn't have auto locking tailgate already. I believe the lariat and some or all XLTs maybe depending on options have it. My buddies Tremor xlt has it already. To do this modification you need the new power locking mechanism and a new wiring harness for the tailgate (unless you run your own wiring and source the connector) , but the actual lock cylinder that you put your key into is not affected. You don't need to do anything with that.
Great video! Will be doing this soon as I’m tired of locking the tailgate all the time.
Tape the latch handle before opening the tailgate. That will hold handle in place for easy install of bolts.

So I was expecting a power opening and closing tailgate. My XLT already has the power lock/unlock.

@kromaine13 no, no need to do anything with Forscan or anything else.

@ Awesome! Thank you very much!
So what kind of lock is in addition of this lock, when doing your built on website, and it cost $50 on my Lariat.

@stevesohn5436 it's a very cheap mod. I think they are around 20 bucks or less to buy now and it takes just a few minutes to install.
Make sure you grease that cable they have a tendency to rust out and break and you will loose your spare on the road

Any ideas about this working on a 2025 Maverick?

@@TheCorneringStore Nope, apparently the wiring underneath is updated so this won't fit. I don't have mine yet to look at what's underneath though.
@supermom-rb2dx wow, good to know if it ends up being different. Hopefully it will still be a straightforward swap.
Since this will be different on the '25 XL , has anyone figured that out yet.
@supermom-rb2dx did you see different part #s or something for the 25 models?
Does a maverick need the lock first before doing this mod?
