I just scored on of these last week and cannot stop playing it! You're video's better than mine but I'm glad word's finally getting out about these babies! Thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it. The 25 in the name means nothing; it's not close to 25W. My guess would be more like 12 to 15W; not based on the 7189 power tubes, but based on its volume--it's just not very loud. I'm not using any pedals in this demo as I recall. If I was, I would have indicated that I was. I'd compare this to a Princeton in terms of clean headroom
Leon, nice to finally meet you today! Enjoy the Deluxe reverb...Hey, if you get a chance, post a video of the deluxe. I always enjoy your videos. God Bless, Jeff Barnett
@leonc1234 Actually, there was one for sale a few years ago at a local musician´s forum. I did not have the money at the time. Perhaps that was the one and only specimen in Finland...
Ah, the memories. I bought one of these at the mall just outside of Buffalo back in '68. It was used ... I paid $95 for it. (I was lusting after a SuperBeatle, or even a Buckingham). Condition was near new. Played it for a few years, but I could never get the volume out of it that I needed. A buddy who had a silvertone 25 watt blew this away. Maybe I needed new tubes. I sold it a couple years later for $100 to pay for car insurance ... what a dipstick. This one sounds great. I'd love to find one in good shape. Now I'm playing through a fender deluxe reverb reissue and a vox ac15 ... both make great sound. But a Danelectro is funky.
Yes...they're all over the States because they were sold in "chain stores" here....in Europe...I'm sure they were consider cheap junk but too expensive to import. Really, if you want a great Danelectro made amp, I'd look into the Silvertone 1482 or the 1433. I've had both and they are really sweet, great sounding amps once you put a better speaker in them. To me, way more useful than the DM-25.
I no longer have the amp so I can't help you out with the measurements. But it's definitely worth pursuing. I'd make the cab from pine; it'll be inexpensive, relatively light and will sound good in the open back format. I'd also get a good speaker. You'll be pressing your luck a little to find a an old Jensen C12Q in good shape...but it could happen. Bet it'll sound fantastic with a modern Celestion G12 blue alnico or a G12H30 too. Good luck finding matching grillcloth and tolex, however...
Actually Princetons came with 10s (at least stock ones), but that doesn't really bear on your point. Yes, I'd agree, the DM-25 is not real loud...though mine was notably louder than something like a Champ or even my Sears 1482...but actually I preferred the 1482. I agree, these were really cheesy reverb units. I'd have been happy w/o it.
@ploukusa - It's ironic because they were often sold in large "chain stores" in the States back in the 60s. They were not the most popular back then (they were the cheap bargain brand when everyone wanted a Fender) but you see them pop up with some frequency. BTW, I have something that comes from Finland that is quite rare in this country (as far as I know)...a Finish Spitz dog! She's a great little dog, probably my favorite dog ever!
man i think that's a great sounding vintage toned amp. of course an original c12 is a nice feature. many fenders wont sound that good with their old worn out oxfords or utahs. are you using a pedal for overdrive? also, is it a legit 25 watts? what would the clean headroom compare to in the fender area? princteon/deluxe quieter or louder? I'd apprecaite a response asap as i have an opportunity to obtain one, but it might not last. I'd love to rock this with my silvertones and danos!
@ploukusa - Yes, bet it will be a challenge finding one over in Finland. They're not real loud amps; probably have a hard time keeping up with a drummer w/o miking it.
Wow, I didn't know I be going here but its turns out if you want to hear an amp. You go to rthe "Go To" guy and I should mention nice presentation showing the dials and the features as well. I think this amp is nicer looking than the one thats for sale on ebay. Good video, nice guitars as well.
Not sure...I think the Accutronics company of old is gone...think they got bought out or something. I've heard of people using better tanks in some Dano and Valco-made amps that came with cheapo-cardboard tanks...but I'm not enough of a reverb freak to care. Just a personal preference.

beautiful looking telecaster!
oh those guitars are so beautiful.... I'm tearing up.
Thanks - glad you enjoyed it!
Bloody Marvelous demo!! What a fantastic tone. Thanks for sharing, and great playing too.

my first amp in 1963 was a small Danelectro with maybe a 8" speaker.
Enjoy - these a great little amps.

I have a smaller version of this amp. Best amp I've ever played through. I also play a 335 style guitar. They sound great together.

old-rocker Great story !!! I live outside of Buffalo, NY now. What mall did you pick yours up at ? What town was it ?
Nice demo!

Sounds amazing! Hope to score me one of these sometime. Living in Finland, might be quite the challenge...

@fraidwoodcesco - Thanks, yeah, it's an outstanding guitar. Ron Thorn's work is really phenomenal.
I enjoyed the yacking BTW ;-)
What do you think of the 1481 Leon ?
Thanks! No clues on the 1481. I had a 1482 and it's a great little amp.

@CVDiego - Yup, I've had a number of Maggies.

I ordered a Danelectro DC 59 from Thomann.de, they shipped it to Paris. They ship everywhere in europe. Give it a try bro ! Good luck
me likeeeeee! What would you say the worth is of one of these? Around $500?
I haven't really been keeping track since I sold mine. But my guess is probably something like 350-500 depending on the condition.
@jazznerd4444 - Hey Jeff - great meeting you too. Just sent you a message to your youtube acct.
