Such a wonderful interview with a truly lovely lady. I met Beverley in 1993 when I visited her school in South Maimi; I had just discovered Montessori and was visiting family in the area from Beijing. To this day, it is one of the most Beautifully well-thought-through Montessori environments I have seen. Beverly was so gracious in answering all my questions and so proud of her school. It's great to see her son following her footsteps . Thank you Jesse for this interview.

She changed my life! I wish I could tell her how and why and thank her! I worked as a teacher assistant at the Ludlam Campus in 1982. It was truly a work of God.

I’ve never been taught in the Montessori method, but I was always taught manners. I live in the UK and I went to a Church of England Primary school (elementary school to you US people), but I’ve recently developed a keen interest in this method of teaching. I would like to know you can apply the Montessori method to teaching a musical instrument or to learning music theory, for example, how you set up the teaching space or introduce the instrument in a way that encourages a student to feel comfortable getting to know the instrument. If there are any fellow musicians or anyone with experience teaching Montessori reading this comment, please feel free to reply with any thoughts you have about this. It’s interesting that you should mention paper airplanes, because at school, we used to get scolded for throwing paper airplanes in the classroom, even though it was during our break-times. I think it was because some boys would get silly with them and end up hitting people and knocking things over with them.
