This piece has one really nasty pedal part! More thanklessly awkward than such pedal showcases as the Sowerby Pageant and the Langlais Concert Etudes. One American performer who won the coveted DMA degree (awarded to only the top 20% of the applying class) said it was the hardest pedal writing in the entire organ literature.

Joseph, you will appreciate the amazing performance of this work by Matthew Luca on the big Taylor and Boody organ in the chapel at the College of the Holy Cross. As you can imagine, it keeps his two young registrants very busy. His pedal playing is well up to the task. The recording is truly superb, a thrilling sonic treat.
