Everyone arguing in the comments seems to ignore the verse where 10 years into the future, still with the boyfriend she loves, she reflects on how she almost naively left him for a "guy who hates money", a blazed out drummer. Looking back on it she knows it was just butterflies in her stomach and this "friend" wasn't worth leaving her stable, loving relationship after all.

On the contrary, i think that verse is her reflecting on the mistake she made by staying with the boyfriend. He takes care of her and has money, but he does not love her, nor she him. She speaks on how she’s bored and craves another man’s affection. I think the point of the song is to not fall in line but rather follow your heart. Listen to her tone and how she speaks about the boyfriend compared to the other guy. I could be wrong, but that’s my take on it :)

It's not a slight against the song or the video, these were clearly intended to look this way, and the way its portrayed as a kind of smaller cobbled together thing is pretty well emulated.

As someone with borderline finally in a healthy long term relationship, I can really relate to this song. It is difficult for me to put into words, I tried, but the lyrics really comfort me in a way. They remind me to accept that my boyfriend is good for me, that he wont abandon me, that the way I crave to be treated is not comforting but sick and I don't need to constantly search for a way out or a new sense of love and support. Healthy relationships are boring! I don't really know if this can make sense to someone without borderline...

I’ve literally had this on loop for 5 hours
She's singing about feeling sexually atracted to someone who isn't her partner, and she does'nt consider cheating on her boyfriend because she loves him. In the first frase she says that she's atracted about that second guy, but she knows she do not love him, it's just "chemistry".
