Why I Stopped Pixie Diffusing My Wavy Curly Hair

- Pixie diffusing works wonders for extra volume, however it frequently caused my hair to dry wonky the closer it got to my root. This is especially true for my bottom layers as they tend to dry in a looser pattern and don’t want to “curl” up into the diffuser (this is totally normally to have multiple patterns!)
Cupping my hair has worked so well with my natural wave and encourages it to dry the way it wants to.
Here are some of the benefits for me:
➰ More consistency in my pattern and final results
➰ Improved defintion
➰ Decreased frizz as the airflow is directed downward, in the direction of the cuticle
➰ Improved volume at the root
➰ Longer last washdays and less of a need to refresh.

Ugh...I JUST got done diffusing my hair when I saw this😂. I am definitely going to try this method though. I have only been treating my hair properly for its texture for about a month and a half so im still learning. I have lots of wave but it seems to be curling more and more as I treat it right. Videos like these make things so much easier!
so did i lol. but i’m excited to try this next time!
How are you treating it? What products are you using? I just found out I have wavy hair but my back hair looks dry and freezy when I try curly method. Not sure how to treat my hair so it can curl more at the back. Maybe it's just straight there but it's so frizzy there too so idk.
Same, I just started my curly journey and I'm so clueless! My hair is also fine and thin so many curly girl methods don't work on me.
@@VeeGthangI have the same issue. I found that oiling as a pre shampoo and heat cap (coconut oil product, not raw coconut oil, on lengths and end, shampoo twice (also make sure to clarify monthly to weekly depending on your water type), then, my biggest game changer, properly add k18 mask and let it sit for four minutes, then add in hair conditioner mask and let it sit for however long it needs, then rinse and use regular conditioner on ends and rinse again. Then use very lightweight products as far as leave in, curl cream, gel, mouse on very wet hair, brush through all products and then start drying/styling. After hair is dry scrunch, shake and fluff with a light hair oil and if you separate the curls make sure you have enough oil on finger tips that you’re not creating frizz. The biggest take away is the k18. Use it properly and it’s magical. This routine made my waves/curls miraculously better and I love my natural hair now.
Btw, there’s always a chance you need to cut some of the damage off too. A butterfly haircut worked really well for my texture both for wearing it straight and curly. Also remember, it does take time. It took me about 4 years (off and on) to truly figure my hair out and get rid of all my previous damage.
Also, I do not use curl hair approved products. I love my sulfates and silicones, my hair does so much better with them.
This makes sooo much sense why my hair keeps doing that! Next wash day, I’m gonna try it this way. Thank you!
That makes sense with longer hair. Mine does this too. Thank you!!
This is less wavy hair and more curly hair. Either way, tried this and worked like a charm. Hopefully it makes my days two and three easier too! Will update if I remember
That’s what I said too. Def safe to call her curly, those are some perfect roller/curling iron like curls
@@tourmii It's not safe. The curly gatekeepers will find her and come after her lol. (They need to find something better to do.)
You can guarantee she got chewed out for saying she has curly hair. (As someone who recently learned she has 3A curls and thinks this woman has very curly hair...)
I am going to try it tonight! It makes sense why my ends look so weird. Thank for the tip 😊
Your hair is gorgeous 😍
Beautiful hair! ❤
Looks fabulous 🤩
Thank you❤ I have tried it this works! No more wonky pieces😊
And i thought my roots were just weird😮 Totally need to try this!
I’m obsessed with your hair!! ❤❤❤
Your hair looks so good!
Definitely gonna try this thank you! Your hair is gorgeous
You’re hair is so beautiful 😮❤
My hair isn't quite as pretty as yours but I have been diffusing my hair this way the last few times. I also have low porosity hair and between this method AND finally getting just how wet I need to keep my hair, I've been getting a bit larger clumps, which makes me happy. I don't think I'm getting as much volume, though.
Move your head from side to side, lean back, and also do it upside down while drying to keep roots from sticking to your head, then when hair is 85-90% dry, clip up your roots and air dry to a little while before removing the clips and finish the drying process upside down. You will get mega volume doing it this way. Also, use a volumizing mouse to help at the roots before you start drying
@@Aaarandomwhat do you mean, clip up your roots?
Dont be afraid to call your hair curly it curls around as apposed to an s shape :) ❤
Yes! My fine hair coils but it's not like how you picture 4A hair, so I'm reticent to call it curly but it's really not wavy, either.
@columbia2635 If you look up the curly hair chart, there are different categories of curls like big looser ones up to really small tight ones as well as s shape waves and straight hair
As long as its going around its curly dw too much if it's a different hair texture ❤️
Mine is S shaped but if a wet hair falls and dries on the counter, it makes a perfect circle. So I am going to just start calling it curvy or wurly or squiggly so the gatekeepers don't argue with me.
@user-wh5ir4fo4r that means it's probably curly but stretched or flattened into that shape
Happens to me all the time if I let it dry into a towel for too long without styling beforehand
Don't worry too much ab the curly hair police 😂
Thank you, just subscribed.
How long did it take you to grow your hair that long? 😍
How did you get those curl clumps?
Forreal
Right? I wish she'd answer 😭
I see zero wavy hair here. 100% curly hair
I think it’s safe to call your hair curly over wavy
If you diffuse with your head down it won’t do that
So if i do this, can I just use a regular hair dryer?
My hair is shoulder length. How long does this method take you?
I don't understand the difference?
Instead of forcing the roots to go in a direction they don’t want to they will dry more naturally and when you cup your waves or curls in your hands you can coil them up better and see what’s going on rather than blindly pushing the hair up with the diffuser. It’s called hammock diffusing!❤
Exactly which Laifen hairdryer do you use?
I have the Laifen Swift
Mine actually has the ends straight when I pixie diffuse am I doing something wrong?
No. Mine does that too. I think it's just natural to some people.
Isnt that considered at least wavy/curly
She said her wavy hair. So yeah, it is considered wavy.
@@elcie04it’s def curly
I’m a dude watching this😂😂😂
Wavy hair? Lol
Can’t wait to try this ! Thank you 😊🤍 one of the best explained videos and results looked amazing 🤩
What heat settings do you use while diffusing this way?!
