I never really realised how brutal and badass Mason is in this mission. Considering Reznov isn’t even there, it’s just him killing everything by himself in brutal ass ways.

Not gonna lie when I first played Black Ops I didn’t see this twist coming. Black Ops has the best storyline in the entire series, I wish they would make a remaster of this game. It has that eerie and suspenseful vibe of Cold War espionage.

Yeah if you access the terminal behind the interrogation chair in the games main menu and read some of the files it explains the brainwashing basically did give mason a form of a split personality.

I know that was the part that confused me but it all makes sense
'My name is VIKTOR REZNOV! And I will have, my, REVENGE!' Till this day this still shocks me. Reznov knew there is tiny hope getting out of vorkuta alive and when there is a chance he gave it to Mason just knowing that Mason had more resource and more young. He will do anything including sacrificing himself and the whole prison, not even knowing if Mason will follow his brainwash or not. Tiny as the chance of success, he still choose to do it, even facing death.
I guess that is the ultimate meaning of revenge.
It would have been more badass for Reznov to still make it out of Vorkuta alive and actually work alongside Mason and his SOG team, but then again, we wouldn't have the twist we do now.

Blueacego86 Due to the drone attacks of BO2, the DEAD system was made which would defend countries from air attacks. This is why ground combat is essencial in BO3.
Whoever made this campaign and bo2’s needs to get back to it, this is hands down best cod campaign plot twist and all
The original modern warfare trilogy 2007 through 2011 is also my other favorite cod campaign other than the first two Black ops games
One little thing that really adds to this mission is how some of the enemy deaths during the Nova-6 section shows them slowly succumbing to the gas. Really fucked up to see it through a thermal scope, but that’s part of what makes it one of my favorite mission segments ever.
Brutal, also the music during going through the nova 6 section, it’s all badass, this and bo2 are my favorite black ops games.

Like even though the hints were there such as Wood's and other soldiers questioning what the hell is wrong with Mason. Along with that how Reznov doesn't kill anyone and anytime he shows up, the numbers broadcast always plays. The twist was still so unexpected and amazing.
Also the music for the Gas walk segment is straight fire!

Hands down Black Ops is the best campaign in my opinion. With the number sequences to Mason finally getting his revenge on Dragovich. He did it for Reznov. His best friend since Vorkuta. You may disagree with me but Black Ops is my fav so far.

well yah, his VA in the og was Ed Harris, an A-lister actor who was probably really expensive. Character has like a dozen lines in the sequel, it sucks, but I understand why they didnt get him back for it.

Fun fact: in Russian version of this game Reznov says "and I will have my revenge" in Mason's voice instead of his own, being a hint for the upcoming reveal. Pretty cool imo, shame Russian voice-over is just shit in general

Mason hears the numbers mostly when he's with Reznov. Reznov never actually made it out of Vorkuta alive, but Mason hallucinates about him in Vietnam and the Aral Sea.

If you really think about Dragovich is your ordinary leader villain, Kravneko the second in command to the leader and probably runs the whole troops. Then there’s Steiner the scientist of the group
The guns sound and feel the best in BO1, no other COD or shooter can even compare.
The basement lab in five is also based in rebirth.
Fun fact: Reznoz was woods this whole time. So when he said “I got you mason, your ok” he was actually saying that.

I’m replaying this again for the 30000th time. This game came out when I was around 5 and my 9-10 year old cousin got it for Christmas she didn’t play it AT ALL never even wanted to open it. So she said I could play opened it up beat the whole campaign in one night at like 5 years old. What’s even crazier in one night I could comprehend the whole story the only part that I was numbed to as a kid was when you find out reznov wasn’t there the whole time. I was so dumb I thought he was 😂. Cod really has been there my whole life some of my earliest memories 3-4 I remember playing cod3 with my uncle. So weird being so young growing up basically with every cod that came out. MW2 that was my whole world but again once I played bo1 I fell in love my favorite series fs. And when I got a chance to play the full campaign of waw in 2014 it made me appreciate the bo1 series more. The reason I’m writing this comment is because there’s no love in anything today it’s all capitalism propaganda and companies please people. Equality etc. it’s ridiculous. I want games like they used to be they make them feel like weird cringey comic books now. I seriously just want the old cod back old games in general. Everything on earth is literally left and right this and that war and war. Life was so much better 12 years ago. I was a kid at the perfect moment in time right after 9/11 and right before the take over of the elites fully. It was like this time that doesn’t even make sense. You can say the other bad things that happened in between those times was bad too but the world will never be good. The best you can do is be good yourself. But I think most people with common sense know that. Sorry for the long rant. Just miss when things weren’t crazy and drama filled. Those times of peace and love. Life will be fun as an adult I’m gonna make it fun but again gonna miss all those innocent years. It’s weird they always said games like cod make people more violent when it actually does the compete opposite it gives you a heart
Got through the first part Of rebirth island with Mason On veteran mode quite easily without re spawning then proceeded to Play with Hudson in the truck.
IT was even harder to get through.
The building was mega hard As well on veteran mode but, I found some good tactics And got through
