No at all. It’s a great way to show how strong an ideology can be both in its conception and in its stability, how once an ideology, such as Facism, grows to such a point in human history it won’t ever die. It lives on in other humans, the texts of history, and the graves made from and of Facist occupants. It’s powerful, just as the Steiner’s line is.

Dimitri - “it is good to fight by your side once more” Reznov - “yes my friend.. one final victory “ * Red army forces advances on nazi defensive positions and are slaughtering them like animals* * nogalistic Waw music* Chillss..
Reznov’s narration by the fire gives me chills… he probably was the only one that gave Mason hope in Vorkuta which is why he couldn’t accept that he was dead the whole time
When the fighting starts there are some snipers with scoped Mosin Nagants they are normally killed and you can take one for the rest of the mission and refill it from the standard ones.
I miss this kind of story-teller, the one that actually makes you chill to the bone only from thinking about it. FPS genre has come a long way, but there has been very few games where you gotta sit down, listen and try to understand why we have to kill, not just what, when and where. You know, even for Black Ops 2, a game in general, was very unique and fresh at the time, didn't touch a single bit of Black Ops 1 story-telling aspect. You couldn't feel the intense at all when Mike Harper said "Still got mah ball, let's go". Not just Black ops 2, all later futuristic Cod lack of serious, impactful dialogue which kinda added to the ruination of the story-telling aspect. I'm from Vietnam, kind of a dialogue reader and i love Black Ops 1, World At War and Call of Duty 4 for that. Most speech, talks coming from characters like Cpt. Price, Viktor Reznov, Overlord, Shepherd give you very strong impression of the intension of the battlefield. As other people said "the game is playable but the characters are forgettable"
Back when Call Of Duty wasn't money hungry and it's target audience were not a bunch of uneducated bratty 12 year olds. What happened to Call of Duty having respect for it's players?
Yea I was an uneducated 12 year old. Not bratty cause I kept my mouth shut in the parties. But I played this game in 5th grade with no idea what was going on. I had no understanding of the Cold War. I still had fun tho
@@alexandrostheodorou8387 Well no, the game was constructed with a meaningful campaign and the gameplay was fantastic. Now the gameplay is garbage, campaign is irrelevant and players are bombarded by micro-transactions. In 2010 the game was played by many 12 year olds but that doesn't mean the game targeted them. Nowadays it does.
Dude. We were all 12 when this came out. Thats why it was so cool! COD Changed to appeal to us as we grew but they didn't know we played it not for jetpacks but making us invested due to historical time periods.
"April 30th 1945, when he first spoke of Dimietri, Reznov told stories of a hero. Somebody we should all aspire to be like. At times I have seen him show mercy, but at other I have seen complete brutality. I do not understand him. Perhaps heroes, need not question their actions." Idc if he is just an insert for a character. I was Dimitri Petranko. Waw was amazing and the shit you do in the Russian campaign was some of the most manly and badass shit I could think of.
Legendary Father did you know that the message that you read out can be changed if you decide to show mercy to the German soldiers throughout the campaign and instead of Chernov saying that your brutal he says that your a hero
Hugh. J Arshole Yes. I did it once in my memory. Last year when I got the game on steam I did that. However the qoute I recited is the one I kept getting afterwards. It also seems like the same one everybody else on youtube gets. I was starting I was crazy.
I like how Dimitri can survive 10,000's grenades but this is how he dies, he didn't deserve to die like an animal he should have died in Berlin like a hero
It makes no sense. It suggest that they knew each other before or at least had contact. While in Steiner's case it makes sense (declaration of cooperation), in Dragovich's case it doesn't. If he had given Steiner any information or a message, Beria or some other big fish would have found out about it immediately.
You could guess at the start that sadly Dimitri would eventually die. But to die such an excruciating death, in which his eyes popped before he died...
Probably one of the darkest missions, along with the other NOVA 6 mission. Not only did Reznov sees his friend, his right hand man die in front of him from his own fellow soldiers due to him getting tested how terrible the gas is to humans.
This and soaps death are the saddest things ever man old cod games can be so good but so sad but I think cod bo2 was the saddest game with woods, mason, and Hudson’s death
Actually I’m glad Hudson died. You can tell in some of the missions that he is working with Menendez. Krafchnco (I know I spelt that wrong) told Mason and woods during the interrogation that menendez has allies in the C.I.A. and Hudson instantly tells him to stop and that he’s lying. Then later Hudson is the reason for masons death (If you kill mason)
When I first played this mission, when I first saw Dimitri's face for the first time, I knew that this was gonna be an awesome mission. I am very sad for the tragic ending
The flashbacks , the cut scenes , the story , characters black ops 1 campaign was truly something spectacular and as a 13 year old i didn’t care to notice now that I’m older You remember how great it truly was . I wish I could re live black ops it was real happy moment in my childhood
Now to think of it Dimitri really just has the same honest face as Soap. It is sad that such young heroes have to die from some setup and their old captains are helpless.
Those British commandos that came in at the end were fucking cool as shit. You could see in the cutscene they rode in on Skis. Those guys gave the germans alot of trouble during the war.
Fun Fact: the British commandos in Black Ops were actually cut assets from CoD: WaW. Originally, there was a British campaign planned for WaW taking place in the Winter of 1944. Some of the assets were made, but it was cut before release. The Sten gun you can pick up in game is what it would’ve looked like in World at War.
@@Skyline_r3496 they are only similar in overall form factor and functionality. The Sten is a much more bare bones design with firing in 9mm Parabellum. Type 100s were incredibly rare firearms in WWII. They are also only fully automatic (Stens have a semi auto selector) and fire in 8mm Nambu. On the American collector’s market, Stens are the cheapest transferrable machine gun anyone can buy ($6,000-7,000 for a MKII). Type 100s are extraordinarily rare and go for an insane amount of money. Also, good luck finding magazines for the gun, which are about as rare as the guns themselves.
Around 12:40 before you go in to steiner look into the distance towards the ship you'll see about 10-12 german soldiers walking towards the ship. I always just found it interesting that they were just marching towards it.
Well historically you can. The party leadership doesn't know about this mission anyway. So Steiner can be killed as an enemy or simply for insulting the Soviet uniform. As for Dragovich, bullet for making deals with the enemy.
This game was the best. I felt like I was playing World at War again. The appearance of the British Commandos was great too, I really hope they make another WWII game with them.
I know Dimitri is way more dramatic, but it also makes me a bit sad to have to take out British soldiers in this. ;__; They are usually allies if not directly playable in WW2 games, they stood defiant against Nazi regime and helped the Russians/Americans defeat them and they're the only reason Resnov survived... even if he just spent the rest of his life in prison anyway. But then you get to use their sten gun and go pew pew pew which is cool.
Attention all agents. Our new allies in Cuba have graciously permitted the construction of a new...and permanent...broadcast station within their borders. From now until Project Nova’s initiation, all instructions will broadcast from the Rusulka.
I just gotta say, if they remake World at War with more or less the same story, I really hope Dimitri gets his face and voice added. Frankly, Dimitri and Reznov have some of the best interactions of the franchise and even though it's just for one mission we learn so much about Dimitri's personality and the bond between the two. Dimitri seems to be an introvert and shy outside of being a soldier since he glances at Reznov and turns away when he wants to ask him something but feels awkward doing so but trusts Reznov enough to muster up to ask it. The way the two always seem to look out for eachother is great. Like how Reznov warns Dimitri about Dragovich and Kravchenko or Dimitri gently telling Reznov to stay with him (and Reznov gently telling Dimitri to get ready). The two just want to go home after fighting in World War 2 as brothers but never made it back. They were betrayed and Reznov screaming while reaching out for Dimitri as they were separated is gut wrenching. Even as Dimitri was dying, aside from getting out, the first thing on his mind was getting to Reznov. Dimitri was given an impressive ammount of character than even in the still shots of him and Reznov speak volumes of their dynamic. I really hope we get more interactions of them in the future.
Wtf happened to Tvelin the third guy they escaped with, I replayed this mission and followed behind him and he made it to the rope but he doesn’t slide down like Nevski
BrickChief yeah I know what I meant was when Nevski asked " then who do we fight?" And reznov replies with " everyone!!!" That's when you can shoot tvelin so that means that he's supposed to die or maybe what happened in your gameplay is a glitch because he dies either way

* Red army forces advances on nazi defensive positions and are slaughtering them like animals*
* nogalistic Waw music*
Chillss..
couldnt dragovich take some german prissoners to test nova 6 ...
whitexworm 1238 dragovich hated reznov, so he used him and his team instead.
whitexworm 1238 yes
It's what you call "tying up loose ends"
I've said this to two people and I'll say it again:
You would be great at Gaming Sins.
"Good. That's one less loose end."
Technically this isn't during World War 2. As the war ended two months before this mission.
KeithRose post war operation
I guess they launched the operation at the end of the war but it lasted after the war officially ended
Eh you can say that. The war ended in September that year. Nearly 2 months removed from the end
Your right but some people kept fighting because they didn't get the news
No, in II world war.
Russians also fought against the Japanese.
5:42 that victory jump tho...
Reznov’s narration by the fire gives me chills… he probably was the only one that gave Mason hope in Vorkuta which is why he couldn’t accept that he was dead the whole time
The most chilling and pulse pounding level in the game.
What I love about this mission is that it felt like I was really playing COD W@W. Such a great mission.
7:16 that poor Solider he just wanted to surrender and stay alive :(
10:46 This section of dialogue made Dragovich's death even more satisfying
I got the feels :(
I love how Petrenko has the same voice as MW2's Spetznaz announcer
I think this is one of the only missions where you actually fight against allied forces in this series as a nonantagonist force. It blue my mind.
When the fighting starts there are some snipers with scoped Mosin Nagants they are normally killed and you can take one for the rest of the mission and refill it from the standard ones.
Don't need them.
I just nick the opponents weapons.
The Mp44 along with the machine pistol model 40
The Mortar crew can get rid of the bridge
Holy crap 5:35 was intense
wwe hahaha
TheSilentSnake36 private! private! private!
what the fuk did I just witteness
TheSilentSnake36 rumble in the jungle
It´s Jonh Cenaaa
I did not shoot one Brit during this mission.
Real nationalism
Same I only wanted to kill the commies
@Rhett Rhino oh stfu
Rhett Rhino k
Frozen Wolf22 Oh, so you spared nazi? Sweet.
It still Call of Duty, just more of money grabbing but still Call of Duty
Yea I was an uneducated 12 year old. Not bratty cause I kept my mouth shut in the parties. But I played this game in 5th grade with no idea what was going on. I had no understanding of the Cold War. I still had fun tho
Wait back then it was all 12 year olds and money grabbing back then! 😂
Now with Vanguard's ending, it makes sense why the Brits knew about Project Nova as well.
Yeah why the British knew, Lucas from Vanguard Found the Project Nova Dossier and Project Aether in the plane when they take off.
This mission brings so many memories, it uses the sounds and textures from Call of Duty 2 and World at War. Two my favourites.
SHCKLET TBR TEATS
Reznov: Your leaders will use you
Also Reznov: Ok I’m just gonna fuck up your head so you do my bidding
I love how at 5:38 you stood there and watch the npc get his ass whooped 😂
"As long as you love, the heart of this army can never be broken"
Reznov was right :(
I honestly think this should have been an extra mission in waw. Then in Black Ops, the story continues and so on.
It should...
Geeky Metalhead they had zombies instead as extra
It fits far better as part of Black Ops, since it's literally a Black Op that's off the books.
I wish dude, seeing that through Dimitri's eyes would've been better
It wouldn't have made any sense in the context of WaW.
Poor Petrenko... Rest in Peace, hero.
World at War: The most epic cod ever. Literally the only cod that gave me goosebumps.
This was actually one of my favorite missions in the campaign its pretty fun
18:12 Captain Price rehearsing the cargo ship operation circa 1945, colourised.
Probably the best campaign in COD history. It was so good
I like how Dimitri can survive 10,000's grenades but this is how he dies, he didn't deserve to die like an animal he should have died in Berlin like a hero
"Dragovich and Steiner are talking like old friends, I do not like this Reznov" 🤧🥺
Why did they not put the ppsh in zombies since it's clearly an actual weapon as seen in this mission

@@matte_l3lack doesn't answer his question
Citrusbird386 Why are you replying to an 8 month old comment?
@@MannyyJr so his reply was towards a comment made a lot longer than 8 months, but I'm the one that needs questioning?
Citrusbird386 Yes
Probably one of the darkest missions, along with the other NOVA 6 mission. Not only did Reznov sees his friend, his right hand man die in front of him from his own fellow soldiers due to him getting tested how terrible the gas is to humans.
I remember playing this as an 11 year old at the time and I got so hyped when I saw Dimitri Petrenko as the guy on the left in the beginning.
Anyone also think that Black ops was an awesome game?
awesome game, better story and plot
@@cobitilla but trash multiplayer, the zombies is good though..
@@jeex356Multiplayer was amazing what do you mean
This and soaps death are the saddest things ever man old cod games can be so good but so sad but I think cod bo2 was the saddest game with woods, mason, and Hudson’s death
Woods and Mason can survived in Black Ops 2 if you made the right choice.
@@rileybaker4240 yea he might have been forced to help the enemy though
Riley did u pay attention to the story of bo2? Hudson was FORCED to work with the enemy. Get your shit straight brother 🤣
Straight Edge Punk yea I just replayed the caning last week and now I’m starting to remember that menendez forced him to do all of that.
"Dragovich...Kravchenko...Steiner!"
"These "men" must die!"
R.I.P. reznov best character
Check ''Operation Thunderstorm'' (2008) and their list!
"Dimitri Petrenko, I saw this man cheat death time after time at the siege of Stalingrad. As long as he lives the heart of this army cannot be broken"
Now to think of it Dimitri really just has the same honest face as Soap. It is sad that such young heroes have to die from some setup and their old captains are helpless.
17:40 Reznov,i don't feel so good....
HOW COULD YOU XD
10:45 and in fades the memories, I adored that final push.
@@edm240b9looks similar to the type 100 the Japanese use
@@Skyline_r3496 they are only similar in overall form factor and functionality. The Sten is a much more bare bones design with firing in 9mm Parabellum. Type 100s were incredibly rare firearms in WWII. They are also only fully automatic (Stens have a semi auto selector) and fire in 8mm Nambu.
On the American collector’s market, Stens are the cheapest transferrable machine gun anyone can buy ($6,000-7,000 for a MKII). Type 100s are extraordinarily rare and go for an insane amount of money. Also, good luck finding magazines for the gun, which are about as rare as the guns themselves.
this is the best mission in BO1. It’s like stepping back to world at war for a few minutes.
for me BO1 - -s best COD game of all times
Around 12:40 before you go in to steiner look into the distance towards the ship you'll see about 10-12 german soldiers walking towards the ship. I always just found it interesting that they were just marching towards it.
"the injuries that man suffered..." 6:23
Reznov is a wise man
Those quotes are life changers
*Accidentally Stabs Petrenko*
Petrenko: “Am I a joke to you??”
It was a time when CoD series had a really good and meaningful storyline, so sad to see series have no more characters or storylines like this
I honestly dint wanna kill the British in this mission because they basically saved Reznov's life
Not really they did from the nova but they started shooting at them
what happened to nevski? so many unanswered questions
He managed to escape, but Reznov couldn't run fast enough and got captured.
He managed to escape, but Reznov couldn't run fast enough and got captured.
He die

this is a waw question, what happened to daleski?
Essentially this was the last time Call of Duty went to World War 2...(sorta)
TheCommunistDragon Call of Duty WW2zz
TheCommunistDragon And now we're back!
You're right. Atleast the last time the return to WW2 was actually good.
olzhas1one This isn’t even WWII
We dont talk about that other game. That abomination called COD WWII
You can't shoot Steiner or Dragonbitch... because why the fuck not? That would've delayed Petrenko's death.
Wtf dragonbitch
Well historically you can. The party leadership doesn't know about this mission anyway. So Steiner can be killed as an enemy or simply for insulting the Soviet uniform. As for Dragovich, bullet for making deals with the enemy.
this was best part of game for me. always grabbing mighty STG and shooting off people's limb, I loved it!
5:34 Nothing more refreshing in war than seeing your comrade beat up enemy with their fists
This game was the best. I felt like I was playing World at War again. The appearance of the British Commandos was great too, I really hope they make another WWII game with them.
This mission was so nostalgic cause it made me feel like I was playing waw again
Really sad that even though Dimitri survived the war, he still didn't live past 1945, he died just under 2 months after the war ended.
I know Dimitri is way more dramatic, but it also makes me a bit sad to have to take out British soldiers in this. ;__;
They are usually allies if not directly playable in WW2 games, they stood defiant against Nazi regime and helped the Russians/Americans defeat them and they're the only reason Resnov survived... even if he just spent the rest of his life in prison anyway.
But then you get to use their sten gun and go pew pew pew which is cool.
Seeing Dimitri in person is so cool in this game
gordon freeman
Man the theme so bring much memories and nostalagia both black ops and world of war
I love that this mission is an homage to World at War.
Attention all agents. Our new allies in Cuba have graciously permitted the construction of a new...and permanent...broadcast station within their borders. From now until Project Nova’s initiation, all instructions will broadcast from the Rusulka.
I get a huge nostalgia burst when I hear the WaW soundtrack being played in this mission. Especially at 11:08 and 10:58
I just gotta say, if they remake World at War with more or less the same story, I really hope Dimitri gets his face and voice added.
19:39 Gary Oldman surely loves that line
Wtf happened to Tvelin the third guy they escaped with, I replayed this mission and followed behind him and he made it to the rope but he doesn’t slide down like Nevski
BrickChief that's because he was meant to die in the mission either by the hands of you or the British soldiers
Luke Osborne he was one of the guys you escaped with he wasn’t one of the Russians that betray you
BrickChief yeah I know what I meant was when Nevski asked " then who do we fight?" And reznov replies with " everyone!!!" That's when you can shoot tvelin so that means that he's supposed to die or maybe what happened in your gameplay is a glitch because he dies either way
I wish he survived it was weird to me that only one other guy escaped With Rezov
I saw Tvelin die
