@@joshsmith302 Love that. Perfect.
Couldn’t have said it better
so true!!!! I seek out their videos when I've had less than a stellar day - okay, I seek out ALL their videos ALL the time! LOL They are really a bright ray of sunshine without being ... sappy? is that the right way to describe them?
First time you see Tony Lewis walk up to the mic, you think "What's this little dude gonna do?" Blow your mind, that's what.
His voice is shocking! So great
Heck yeah!!!!
Yeah, he is relatively short fellow, no fancy clothes, everyday guy look about him, then when he sings his vocals are so booming and so beautiful, Doesn't seem to match. Hard to believe what you're watching, the first time you watch this video and hear him sing, "Your Love." Hat's off to him, he is a really great singer.
This song is a masterpiece from the 80 s!!!One of my favorites all time songs!!!!
amen to that
RIP Tony Lewis. His music changed me in so many ways. I love seeing others get that feeling I got!
Tony Lewis had one of the best voices of the 80s, hands down. "Your Love" was their only Top 10 hit in the US, but by no means their only good song. Check out "All the Love in the World", "Since You've Been Gone", and "Voices of Bablylon." I recommend "Voices" for your next one, it's fantastic. Sadly, we lost Tony one year ago this week, but his legacy lives on. Thanks for choosing this one!
I always loved "Say It Isn't So"
61 Seconds is a real good one too
Lewis said, "we were the right band at the wrong time."
Yes he did god R.I.P. Tony Lewis gone but not forgotten😭🙏..
"Play Deep" great album
This song is the only song that never gets old and always puts a smile on my face and 80s are the best
90s song
@@kian1572It's from the 80s
That opening guitar riff and line is one of the most recognizable of any 80's song. Such a great song.
I am a huge Outfield fan, and I really enjoyed your listening and reacting to them. I'm sure someone already said, but Tony Lewis was the lead singer. He has passed away already, as has the tall, blonde lead guitarist John Spinks. The Outfield has a lot of great songs in my opinion. One of my favs is 'No Point', but I have a lot of favs from them: Since You've Been Gone, Say It Isn't So, 61 Seconds, Bangin' On My Heart, Takin' My Chances, Part of Your Life
My second fave is Voices of Babylon.
I remember the first time I heard this song: blew my mind. Hard to believe the lead singer, Tony Lewis, and one of the guitarists, John Spinks, have passed; we were all young back then.
Lucky us!
Keyboardist Reg Webb had also died
Yeah. It's hard to imagine 8-(.
IKR.
Just reading this, was a bit of a shock, after only being reminded of their existence, with this track! R.I.P. lads!
That was arguably one of the best albums of the entire 80s. From start to finish. Great melodies and harmonies. RIP Tony
PLAY DEEP! 👍
When will I get tired of this song? Never.
The band members names are (Tony Lewis who is the bass player and singer) (Guitar player John Spinks) and the (drummer Alan Jackman). Rest In Peace ✝️🙏 to Tony Lewis he past away back in 2020. His music will live on forever. Decades and decades from now his music will still live on and be as popular as it was.
John Spinks sadly years ago. I saw them live in 1983. They have and always will be one of my favorite bands of all time. I Love the fact that both of you have been playing all my favorite artists. The music world is massive and their is so much more waiting for you to find. Thank you for loving all the artists and letting us experience that new perspective and rediscovering why we love them so much. ❤
@@sueschmidt9404 They got back together in 1998 and went on tour. I saw them at Newby's in Memphis and we worked our way to the front and had the best time, singing every word to every song!
Tony Lewis is the singer. R.I..P. Tony He also played bass!
Guitarist John Spinks also passed away in ‘14.
Tony Lewis is dead
@@efcruzado 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
The Outfield is one of my FAVORITE groups from high school!
Interestingly, part of the reason you had such a reaction to the lead singer's voice (you said it was "piercing," and "unique") is because he is one of the few lead singers whose voice has NO vibrato in it. Sting is the only other one I can think of, off the top of my head, who sings with a similarly clear, resonant, "piercing" tone.
And, must say, I honestly enjoy the happy/loving vibe between you two!
Huge fan from AZ!
No vibrato but lots of reverb (echo)
Many a day on padre island listening to this band. The fixx the alarm big country the hooters the romantics great music
@@zedwpd I was just going to say that
I had just posted that they should discover more Sting music since their vocals sound similar. 💜
From back when this song was brand new, I always caught the similarity between his voice and Sting's. It hit me recently that he sounds like a perfect blend of Sting and Journey's Steve Perry.
The opening line says “Josie’s on a vacation far away. Come around and talk it over.” He is wanting a love for the night. He is singing to the girl that’s painting the album cover. At the conclusion of the video she walks out. He is standing at the phone booth and subtly follows her. Check it out!
Oh thanks a lot for this!Didn't know it!The guy who follow her is the lead vocalist?Cool!!!
yeah i'm surprised they didn't pick up on the lyrics lol
I found that street corner at the end of the video on Google Earth! It's in Astoria, NY. 'The girl' in the video is JoAnn Willett. She was interviewed by Noblemania about her role in the video, and what she's doing now.
RIP Tony Lewis. Such a great voice.
Yes! I am so glad I found your channel you have made me fall in love with music all over again thank you so much you improve my mood with every video
This is an amazing channel, I love them
Welcome to the family
Hello we all feel the same way welcome to RSR family 🙋🏻♀️
Nice!
I love their channel and this is one of my favorites of the 80s and I was born in 1995 and I love songs from all decades but I love songs from the 70s and 80s
The song is actually about a one night stand. Good choice. This song takes me back.
And also cheating
@@tj5579 And also Friday night threesomes.
lol. This was the walkup song for one of our Angels players a few years back.
Even though it wasn't based on a real life event, by his own admission, Tony Lewis had made up the the name Josie for that opening lyric
Love this group, it is that guy's voice one of the most unique in rock. No falsetto or virtually no falsetto yet great tone and pitch. How does he sing that high and maintain pitch control? Kudos, Outfield. You helped make the 80s so special.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Tony Lewis' voice stayed that high and awesome until he passed at age 62. He did some excellent solo work after John Spinks died in 2014. Funny about his voice. First time I heard it, it was so high and intense it sounded like his head was about to explode. Then as a young man I learned a lot about singing through them, and was eventually able to nail his voice. Then I got older and lost that range, as most people do, except Tony Lewis and Sammy Hagar!! The Outfield has a catalog of excellent songs. Glad you highlighted them.
Tony is amazing... RIP Tony & John, I saw an interview w/ here sang it perfectly the first time and the wrote it in 10 min. CRAZY!
A few other songs that were great 80`s vibe are Broken Wings-Mr.Mister,I Ran-Flock of Seagulls,Bette Davis Eyes-Kim Carnes,Better Be Good To Me-Tina Turner,Back To Life(However Do You Want Me)-Soul II Soul,Private Eyes-Daryll Hall and John Oates,We Built This City-Starship,Hold Me Now-Thompson Twins,Cherry Bomb-John Cougar,Never-Heart..you can use a few of these for Female Friday but I could tell you tons more, lol, but I thought a start with a few that I know you both would love! Keep On Rockin'
I have suggested many plus could suggest many more. It is just that there are so many good songs that are less known as well . I live in Canada and there are so many artists that Americans have never heard of.
Yes Kim Carnes Betty Davis eyes...see was the singer standing next to cindy Lauper in the we are the world video...you'll love her amber...pinky swear.
I’d add the Police, the Cars, and Super Tramp to this list.
Mr mister ( is it love your after tina turner typical male& we don't need another hero please just to add to your list here if you don't mind✌😄
I miss the old MTV✌😪vh1 classic mtv 2 vh1 soul
You can't have 80's bangers without a little, The Hooters and Big Country.
YES!!!! They GOTTA hear Satellite by The Hooters!
For this 60yr old,I have to say 😊 to you two for being so open minded about songs that made me get my groove on and 🕺 dance like a fool. I enjoy watching both of you. Spread the cheer and spread the song!
Jordan's reaction is priceless. Love it! What a great band The Outfield were. Truly set the sound of the '80s.
I love how much you guys love these kind of 80s songs and yes sunglasses at night as well they are my young teenage years
It's amazing to think we grew up with these. Hearing them on the radio? Buying the cassettes when they came out? So much fun and so many memories!
Tony Lewis and the Outfield were one of the best bands of the '80's. This entire album, Play Deep, is so so good. Thank you for giving it love!!!!
My all time favorite Late 80's Band!!!
Tony Lewis, John Spinks, and Alan Jackman, were the incredible lineup you all just witnessed.
Unfortunately, the voice of the band passed almost a year ago.
R.I.P. Tony Lewis.
A talented group of musicians Tony Lewis also played the bass
John Spinks passes away also, in 2014. Collaborative songwriter of the group w/Lewis and lead guitarist of the band.
The Outfield has such a great 80's sound. Here are some more songs that are pretty amazing from them: "For You", "All the Love", "Say it isn't So", "Since You've Been Gone"... Another great band that sounds a bit like The Outfield is "Icehouse" Here are some great Icehouse songs: "Crazy", "Electric Blue", "No Promises", "Great Southern Land" ....
"my paradise" from a later album is also good. Play Deep, IMO, is one of the best albums I ever heard. Almost all of it is good
I love their song "After the storm" .. slow and full of emotions
Men at work another great 80's band
You want another 80s banger?
The Romantics - Talking In Your Sleep
What I Like About You is more of a banger.
@@carlhill6942 I like that one too, but we all have our favorites, I suppose.
Yes and "she's a beauty" by the tubes.
Good choices. And I'll add One Thing Leads To Another by The Fixx.
this song was very popular in the clubs in the 80's including Automatic from pointer Sisters
All The Love In The World is another really great song by The Outfield.
Every time you Cry is another great Outfield song.
If you are doing the '80s...please do Depeche Mode....so many great songs!!!!
So many great songs!!!
Pretty please?
yes please!!!!!
@@rowanmayfair9249 pretty please indeed!
Enjoy the Silence-- Personal Jesus- great starters!!!
This track has been on all my playlists since the 80's. I LOVE TONY'S VOICE.
Just wanna say rest in peace Tony your soaring vocals mesmerizes us all. Such a beautiful voice the man had.
This song will always be one of my favorites ❤ Addicted to this song 🎵 🥰😍
The whole "Play Deep" album is fantastic!!!
I was in 9th grade when I discovered The Outfield! Oh my gosh, how I loved this group. My favorite songs were "All The Love In The World" and "Every Time You Cry" which was a song I wore my Outfield cassette tape out with! Fun times!
Another great song that fits into the funk/pop category is "Something About You" by Level 42. This was a mid-80's release that was their biggest hit in the US. The lead singer and fantastic bass player is Mark King. I'm sure you will hear the great falsetto background by Mike Lindup.
Lessons in love is another one
Oh yes
Another band that was awesome
Mark King is unbelievable, he single-handedly made me start playing bass thumb style and his voice is underrated. Mike Lindup is just as great, his playing really makes so much for it and he’s got so much emotion in keyboard work.
Tony Lewis actually has the rarest of all voice types, contra tenor/countertenor. That's why his voice sounds so unique, basically it's a male voice that can sing soprano (the highest female voice type.) It still maintains a masculine timbre though. One unique thing about it, is the steadiness and clarity of high notes, with a lack of any vibrato.
Eddie Money - “Two Tickets To Paradise”
Yes!
Yes!
Do the single version of it, not the album version; it’s better.
Nice,....RIP to Tony Lewis....miss you buddy!
One of my all time favorite 80's songs and groups. Loved The Outfield.
New artist for you; the group is "Johnny hates jazz" the songs are: "Shattered Dreams" and"Turn back the clock". Thanks.
and I Don't Wanna Be A Hero.
This song is a vibe of it's on. I'm still waiting on y'all to do a Etta James song. At last is a good one by her. Amber will love it
I agree we need to hear At Last by Etta James
@@stevenhamilton9305 They don't no what they are missing out on. She is a legend
They're learning their young they still haven't heard Billie Holiday or Sarah Vaughan
My oldest granddaughter walked down the aisle to At Last by Etta with her great grandfather, unfortunately her daddy was killed when she was 2. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
HAVE to hear Etta's At Last
Jimi Jamieson, lead singer for Survivor during the 80's, was known as "the voice" and Rik Emmett, lead singer for the Canadian band Triumph, also had a great voice. You guys should check out the music from both bands.
Magic Power by Triumph
My FAVORITE band of the eighties! I had their cassette, “Play Deep” my high school senior year. Memorized every word to every song . Loved every song on that album. I quote the one line often; “Just cause you’re right that don’t mean I’m wrong.” If only everyone could adopt this in our ever divisive culture we are living in now! Thank you for making reaction videos worth watching. I love Jay’s rhythmic head bopping, and Amber’s trance sway!
Sting has a voice that sounds kind of like this dude.... you could listen to walking on the moon by the police
He is asking her for a one night stand.
“Josie”, his regular girl is on a vacation far away
He just wants to use her love, not loose her love, tonight.
Well, he says both.
@@frauleinmona Truth. Was just coming here to say same
@@Willie_McBride Ha! I'm wondering if they think that the song was written like that all of these years?😁
80s music imposible not to dance with big smile on face😊😊
EVERY TIME YOU CRY by The Outfield has a vocal slide that you HAVE TO HEAR. It's not as fast as this song but you will love that slide and the overall harmonies.❤❤❤
Great comment about the drums driving the song. The fact that they're front and center really does play an important role.
And for some reason, the tone of those drums really stands out.
"Everytime You Cry" Is my favorite. It showcases Tony Lewis' voice as well as all the harmonies.
Awesome band!!
They opened for Journey in Denver back in '86. What a great concert!!
Tony Lewis the lead singer, had an unbelievable voice!🎶🎵
Unfortunately, Tony passed away in 2020.
R.I.P.
Great reaction, love y'all!
That drummer!!
Hey guys i havent heard tis in a long time , good one ! Ok how bout a little adventure the band is called THREE DOG NIGHT , black and white , shambala two great 70 bangers by this band to check out and enjoy ! 😍😍
SHAMBALA! Yes!!!! They need to do the studio version. The live one sounds sped up and it kinda sucks.
I LOVE this group. My other fave of theirs is "Say It Isn't So"
You guys made me smile from ear to ear as a younger generation can really appreciate music from the eighties. I’m 62, and never get tired of listening to this song. His voice is unique (Scottish accent?). You can just let song float through you over and over, especially when driving with the top down! Enjoy my friends!😊
Surprised that no one suggested "Winning It All" yet by this band.
I’m still pushing for TRIUMPH “magic power” (live from the US FESTIVAL)
Can you please do Edgar Winter group- Frankenstein for Halloween. The live version it will be a treat has rocking drums, sax that can’t be matched, and keyboards. A little for both of you.
has to be this live 9:19 version ruclips.net/video/P8f-Qb-bwlU/видео.html
A must.
I love it when one of you (Amber) has heard something and Jordan is clueless ☺️. The reactions are priceless and wonderful to see.
So good to see how much you two love my 80s music, my daughter now loves 80s rock and I actually saw the outfield in concert at six flags in Georgia back in the late 80s. Loved them then love them now
Loved it when it came out, and still absolutely love this tune ♫
To this day this song is played at all kinds of sporting events. Many MLB players have used this song as an walk up when they bat, most notably Charlie Blackmon of the Colorado Rockies. Huge crowd sing along.
Yeah Grant Green from the Angels used it too back in 2014 or so. We wanted him to play so we could sing the song.
I suddenly feel so...young!!,,, jammed to this soooo much in the grand 80s!!
This was one of my favorite bands when I was a kid, a lot of good songs. Along with the Cars, The Fixx and Split Enz
Please, for your guys next female Friday, Heart live at the Kennedy centers awards tribute to Led Zeplin. One of the 5 best tributes of all time.
Wilson was AMAZING at this. Gives me chills EVERY time. Another for Kennedy Center honors was honoring Carole King and out walks Ms A herself to sing. STILL makes me shiver.
Thank you for doing these videos I look so forward to seeing you guys each and every day
Kinda like being with family!
An 80s banger indeed! The 80s is def my fav decade when it comes to music. I just love the sound. So many great 80s songs. It's just insane!!
This song is an absolute gem of the 80's. R.I.P. Tony Lewis
Another good Corey Hart song is,.."Never Surrender."
Yes! Love their sound…love their harmony..❤️
I'm glad you all enjoyed this song so much. It's truly beautiful, and even after all these years of listening to it, I still get goosebumps when I hear it after a while.
This song is my favorite song of all times hands down...
Another great 80s song Pride (in the name of love) by U2. They have many great songs though out the years, but it’s a great 80s song.
Loveeeee 80s U2. They’ve gotta delve into them for sure.
My favorite has always been the song For You. Tony's voice is just incredible. It's beautiful and sad at the same time. So excited you're checking them out!
Another group that no matter how bad the day, their songs pick me up! Love the Outfield
I owned every album from this band from 1986 to 1992. Play Deep, Bangin', Voices of Babylon, Diamond Days, and Rockeye; I had them all in CD, and even today, I have all 5 digitally. One of my all-time favorite 80's bands
Tony Lewis's voice sounded like Ed from Ed Edd N Eddy. It’s still so amazing! He may be gone but he will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Tony Lewis.
One of my all-time favorites!!
The way you both smack the beat at "and don't forget what I told ya."
Y'all are the best couple lol!
Love your reactions, love your dynamic, love you guys' channel.
Your reactions are so genuine, and the two of you are so in sync with each other, it's beautiful!
Don’t know about you, but to this day I randomly belt out parts of this song - “Josie’s on a vacation far a-way!” “I don’t wanna lose your love, tonight” - when I’m driving, in the shower, wherever. Thanks for making me smile today!🤟🔥
Glad I'm not the only one 😊
It certainly stays in your head
I'm always singing "You know I like my girls a little bit older"
Yes, me too, and it's been on my phone since that was possible. Have never gotten tired of this song since it came out. Whenever I hear that first line, I'm instantly in a good mood, and I don't even care that it's about a cheater & one night stand!
I’m a huge fan of this band and have every album they ever recorded. They have a ton of songs equally as good as this. Everyone will suggest their well known songs. I’ll suggest some lesser known songs. Try some stuff like “My Paradise,” “Voices of Babylon,” “ Take It All” or “Better Than Nothing.”
"Everytime You Cry" is a must.
@@fishfood8719 they were ALL a must!
The 80's was by far, the best selection of bands and styles of music and yet it has that distinct sound that when you hear it, no matter the band, you know its 80's music....im so thankful i got to grow up through the 80's.
I went “ab-so-LUTE-ly” crazy for this song when it came out! Still love it!!!
Jon Anderson of YES... not a falsetto. Also Roy Orbison (Icon born wearing sunglasses) had full range, try Pretty Woman, it's a rock classic from the 60's.
Classic banger. In same genre imo of Tears for Fears.
The Outfield should be considered one of the best pop rock bands ever.
80s banger for sure...Automatically start singing with it, lol...Great blast from the past...J gave me great smile...Thanks guys, Blessings
Love this song!
Another banger is My Sharona by The Knack. The beat just drives you.
This song is great! One of those punk groups that hid behind pop back in the 80's, like The Police, The Cars, Blondie etc. They would have a couple of radio hits and then the rest of their albums would be heavy punky and in your face.
You can never get enough of this iconic band..Always The Outfield
Tony Lewis had the perfect voice of the 80s he is one of those artist who symbolized the meaning of true 80s music when it comes to all the above.
Both of you are great! Love your reactions! 😃
Check out some hits from Blondie and Loverboy, they both have greatest hits albums.
I saw them live in 1986 right as this song exploded on radios across the country. They were the opening act for Starship. If I remember right, they even played this song twice during their set, once to open and once to close, and the crowd ate it up.
A decade ago the Outfield was still performing..and as soon as that guitar riff started..the entire crowd would cheer and get pumped..because they knew what song 🎵 was coming...audiences 🎵 would sing along word for word..a great band 😀
The whole PLAY DEEP album is really tight. Check out "All The Love in the World" and "Say It Isn't So", they're great too.
