Good video btw, you nailed the 3 reasons why Westbrook's growth has been truly stunted. And if his career ended in his last couple years in OKC where he won the MVP then I would've said he would be a first ballet HOFer but since OKC traded him too Houston, then the Wizards then The Lakers it's been mostly down hill since he played in OKC. He was rightfully put on the NBA top 75 list so that means he will probably still get into the HOF but his latter years post OKC and other than the record triple double stats he's put up , have looked "funny in the light" tho...Also btw that was a savage clip of Reggie Jackson getting all And 1 mixtapes on Westbrook when the clippers played the Lakers too tho, lmao🔥🔥👌🏽👌🏽

He obviously deserves the hall of fame for his accolades and records. Although as much as I acknowledge his feats, Westbrook is probably the hardest player to root for because he gets in the way of himself way too much. Had he decided to adjust his mentality or straight up work on his flaws we’d be having a different discussion right now. After the few years we’ve witnessed it really feels like KD was the perfect player to co exist with him.

    • @Hakeemthabeen888
      @Hakeemthabeen888 2 года назад +5

He worked well with Paul George and Bradley Beal . He was just on the slow decline …. His athleticism with kd was an A++ …but with a very respectable jumper atleast his midrange was very respectable and ppl didn’t leave him open from 3 …. With Paul George he stared to have knee problems again but atleast the offense did have a flow .. Russ was able to be himself while helping pg become an mvp candidate but lol we know how pg is in the playoffs … Russ wasn’t that great either but atleast he didn’t necessarily come up small …. And the wizards situation russ athleticism is now a b+ … he’s not the same explosive scorer but him and brad played well together that team outside of them was just extremely subpar. With the rockets team I always wonder what they would’ve been if the pandemic doesn’t happen….

That was the moment i realized that he was not a winning player. Probably the worst last 5 minute player in history because of the ball being in his hands so much. 200 million dollars later he has been reduced to a sensitive struggle player, with all the yelling, cursing, rocking the baby gestures, and letting opponents know they were too small, i dont have pity for a man who is not humble.

I think one of the things that makes evaluating Russ so difficult is that there is heaps of praise for some things that are a (relatively) low bar for someone considered one of the best PGs ever. I'm not referring to his triple doubles, but lack of playoff success outside of the KD years (which still absolutely count for his success. not at all trying to remove this from his career).
Last year with Washington is a good example. The team got hot in the second half of the season, Russ had great stats, and Washington officially made it to the playoffs, but they finished the regular season as a sub .500, 10-seed, which wouldn't have been good enough for the playoffs in any other season (not including this season). There was praise all around because the team finished better than the previous season, but initial expectations for Washington were higher (depending on who you ask. Many preseason predictions are wrong though).
Personally, I believe Wall and Dame would be thought of in higher regard if they ever played alongside bonafide top 10-15 talent like Russ did in his prime (alongside Paul George, James Harden and Kevin Durant. Bradley Beal was top 20). Russ is certainly not considered good because of that (dude is a great player), but I think some of his contemporaries are closer in comparison as PGs, though the raw stats won't show it.

1st Stunt, he isn't a PG. He is a superior athlete. Bball IQ, change of pace etc never got better..he was just so athletic even compared to NBA players. His ability to play hard is a skill, hearing his HS story to the rise he is at now/throughout his career, I think he exceed expectations. He gets too much blame for how the lakers are playing this year. SG -You said KD is a top 5 player ever?

It's crazy how much things changed with the media regarding Lebron compared to Kobe.
As an impartial Mavs fan who grew up through both, I can remember back to Kobe dragging squads with Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Chris Mihm, Luke Walton, etc. to the playoffs in the West, putting up 40 & 50 point games all over the place... but it was always about HIM not being able to win solo.
Then Lebron comes around, stays in the far less competitive East, & no matter who he's paired with, gets all the credit except when they lose. The one exception was the 2011 Finals when Wade clearly outplayed him, but people were still bitter over him holding a TV special just to announce leaving teams. From there, he could be paired with Ray Allen, Bosh, Wade, Love, Irving, whoever... Lebron put up the stats, so any failures were everyone else. He was PRAISED for not doing it solo...
Funny enough, he then goes on to LA & plays in the West for the very first time. How'd that look when AD was injured? Worse than Kobe's awful Lakers, that's for sure. Lebron's freakish physical gifts & athleticism allowed him to play at a high level for longer than most anyone else, but any failures will always be attributed to teammates, not him.

9:02 all the players you listed were positively effected by Lebron.
Let’s start with Kevin Love, Love literally never had a winning season before Lebron and had never been in the playoffs with the timberwolves they had some 15 win seasons, so how can him going to 4 straight finals and winning a ring negatively impact Kevin Love his stats dipped but that’s common sense when he became the 3rd scoring option.
Now let’s talk about Chris Bosh one of the most underrated power forwards all time and I still feel bad the way his career ended but that had nothing to do with Lebron, unlike Kevin love, bosh had actually been to the playoffs once before Lebron but was eliminated in the 1st round, Chris bosh stats did dipped but the same with KLove that’s common sense when you go from the #1 option to the 3rd option, Bosh went from being a lone star on a bad team only making the playoffs once in 7 years too joining the heat and going to 3 straight finals winning a ring still averaging good numbers, you can also say he was negatively impacted too since he was disrespected and not talked about but that don’t get much to with Lebron the real ones know how good Bosh was.
Now Dwayne Wade when Lebron came to Miami wade was already suffering with injuries, his last prime year being in 2011 but after that he was riddled with knee problems never playing a 70 game season ever with Lebron, and wade after the 2006 finals never got out of the 1st round again until Lebron came, I don’t get how Lebron could have negatively affected his career.
Lastly Kyrie, all the problems with kyrie had to do with kyrie fault he left the cavs because he thought he was better than he was he wanted to be the man on the team and after he quit on the Celtics he even admitted that, ever since then kyrie has had issues but can’t attribute that too Lebron noo.
But one thing I do agree with you on is that Lebron should come out and protect Russ

Playing alongside Lebron turns the pressure up, because he's proven to be a guy who can get to the Finals without any stars on the team, along with Lebron being one of the most popular athletes in the world.
Love and Kyrie weren't winning before they teamed up in Cleveland, but they were good players with good stats. I wouldn't say that he made either player better, but I believe they wouldn't have won much of anything before that team formed. (It was completely out of line for reporters to hint at the idea of Lebron being a father figure for Kyrie though. That was some bullshit.)
Like Love, Bosh's stats took a dive next to Lebron, resulting in ignorant fans treating him like he didn't matter to the team's success or wasn't a good player before joining Miami, fed by the Skip Baylesses of the sports media.
