Utter GENIUS, the drumming on this track is simply hypnotising. Early Models and The Pleasure Of Your Company album in particular are so utterly electrifying, filled with so many layers of new sounds of the technology that was far ahead of it's time. Shivers xoxoxoxo
One of my favourite songs of the 80's. Thanks a heap for posting, hadn't heard it for a long time. I'm trying to find the background to this song. Any ideas on its meaning?
I always read this as an anti war song. Especially with regard to the ANZAC's of WWI. Also maybe a dig at the drinking binges that accompanied ANZAC day in Australia...
A classic chant. I always thought it was a taunt of the middle-class (shoulders) for letting their brothers be sent off to war by the ruling-class (head), but that could just have been the teen thing .. were not "The Models" rather politically inclined as an Australian 80's act? It was necessary for the pub bands, nicht wahr?
Where did the video for "On" (yes, it's just titled "On" and was a single) go? The one with a lyric that was "I wanted to see her again." That was so much like Joy Division.
I have no idea. But "God Bless America" is certainly Military related, along with the title of the album being "The Pleasure of Your Company" - it's the name of a Military film regarding dress code for women in the army as far as I saw it. Also, I'm not sure what other Military themed songs the band has except for the whole title of their debut album being "Alphabetacharliedeltafoxtrotgolf".
Beautiful song....one of the most incredible bands of the 80's....RIP James Freud!
One of my faves of all time. 80s music was the best EVER!
A pivotal album in my life. RIP James Freud.
I missed out on this one when I was younger.. great song 👌

Well said indeed 😁
I was 16 and I loved them ..........
Brilliant Album R I P James.
This should be played at the start of the ANZAC Day dawn services!!! But clearly it is to close to the actual reality of war.

@Amy Rosiewski I'm awful late, but thank you. I'm more fond of the single version, but the comp. version's OK.
Hold On - was a great single by them. Is that the song you mean? 3 years later
Has a bit of the Cure feel to the start of this song
thanks for the glemmories
its about someone getting killed in a war isn't it?

@@101Volts Alcohol i think...many of their songs were about drinking. A bit sad considering James lost his battle with the booze.
