- Everyone said that the new Sangean DT-200x couldn't be hacked into a ghost box. We'll they were wrong and Pasadena Paranormal did it and will show you how to do it yourself!

Take out the Clock battery and it won't store the Cache memory, Will avoid you having to Hold down power etc. It just wont store time anymore lol

Thanks so much for this hack, I just did all the mods except keep the speaker and mines exact same grabbing one station blip but it steams past it, I’m in Australia and it’s 101.2 or something but it’s no problem

@@brandoncabezas5473 no it doesn’t need to be plugged in you can use the radios speaker. We like the sound of an external speaker though. It produces a better sound quality.

It worked. Grandma farts are now heard loud and clear.
It really works but I've found out to get the channel sound you just have to turn it on and scan right away before you hear the white noise.
It's much simpler solution to hack most of pocket radio models and maybe this on too with much better results, working AM and it wont destroy radio ...Just use Impulse generator like NE555 or other, solder singal pin to tuning + or - button and other connect to battery and thats it. Tested with HRD737 radio. You will be able also to control sweep rate with screw or buttons (in better impulse generators). I try that method on this model because I uinfotunately bought one with new pcb also;(
Any advice on how to permanently disable the 90 minute auto shut off on this device?

I do not have any advice on that unfortunately. I never had mine running that long and I sadly broke mine as I continued to find ways to improve it, so I can’t test the scenario you are describing. I was so happy to find this hack because I had bought this exact radio for the purpose of hacking it not knowing the newer model couldn't be hacked so I've had this radio for about two years hoping that someone would figure it out eventually. I tried over and over to get your hack to work on mine but it just won't. Not sure why. It will start to scan like a spirit box would fit about two seconds then goes back to scanning normally and stopping on stations. I opened it up about 5 time to make sure the pins were touching and everything and also tried the reset that you show by holding down the power button but just can't get it to work. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

As for the unit picking up channels and stopping, I seemed to always have a spot in my house that would happen. I mentioned it in the video.
The only additional advice I can provide is to find a way to reduce the RF around your radio. This can either be done by finding a room that is already shielding the majority or all RF, or you can just get some aluminum foil and wrap it around your hack shack. The aluminum foil will essentially act as a faraday cage and no RF will find its way to your radio. I took a small black box that was just a bit bigger than my Sangean and lined the box inside with aluminum foil, then put the Sangean inside the box and closed it. Because the box is not airtight I should still hear the responses loud and clear, and the foil blocked all radio stations from being picked up by the Sangean.
Sorry it’s not perfect. But sometimes all we can do is make the best out of what we have.
I have the same problem @cliffbarrows01 what I notice is that if I wrap my hand around the radio it will stay on scanning with out stopping but if I move it it goes back to normal and it won't work.

I'm having the issue with no audio at all while in constant scan.. And it will only constantly scan through FM. I know the internal speaker works, because the stations come in clear, as usual. Thank you so much for any help!

Hi! I just got my radio. I unhooked and taken out anything antenna wise. I had not bend any pins or anything as of yet.
My radio sweeps non stop. I do not get the static noise unless it is stopped.
What is the purpose of bending the pins, also, using my internal speaker, I try to reset multiple times, I do not get the static sound at all.

I need help!! I did everything that you did, took out the antenna receiver and bent the wires correctly, but I'm still picking up radio stations without anything jacked in the aux....weird! Also, the volume is way down when sweeping through. It only seems to sweep non stop for the AM band, but the FM one always stops at a station which I can hear. Tried the resets but it doesn't change anything. Do you have any insights? Thanks

I don’t have any insight to offer for the volume unfortunately. As you said you don’t have anything jacked into it then I am assuming you are utilizing the internal speaker which I ended up completely disconnecting so I don’t have any experience with how it sounds. All I know about the internal speaker function is you need to have the switch in the side of the radio set to use the internal speaker.

Hey Jared…I did everything that you did and it worked great while I was at my moms house, but when I got home it began picking up channels…I disconnected the external speaker that I used with it to make sure it wasn’t acting as an antenna but it still picked up stations…is there anything I can do to guarantee that I don’t pick up any channels…I’m sorry if this is a stupid question 😂
Definitely not a stupid question. As you saw in the video I mentioned how I ran into that issue as well. I have one radio station that’s frequency is still strong enough for the receiver to grab and stop the sweep. I found that it’s weak in some locations of my house though and really strong in other spots. The only way to guarantee it doesn’t pick up any radio stations would honestly be to get a small cardboard or wooden box, line it with aluminum foil (tape it in place) and place the radio and your speaker inside the box. This will allow the sound to still be heard outside the box, and you will maintain the RF white noise from the sweep, but any radio station frequency will be reflected off of the foil and not able to reach the receiver. This will also ensure that any voices heard are Spirits and not radio blips. Essentially you will be making a faraday cage and putting the radio inside it. I have done this myself to use in areas where Radio signals are very strong and it works flawlessly. Other than that, you can see if there is an area in your house that has much less RF to use the hack-shack in , or you can get a little crafty… if you don’t want to use a make shift faraday box you can just take a flat piece of cardboard and line it with aluminum foil on one side then build a simple makeshift stand for it and use it as a shield by placing it next to the spirit box. If RF signals are say strongest coming from the north, place the shield to block RF from that direction. You will probably need to move the shield around to find out what position is best to block the strong radio frequencies, but it could be a cheap solution.

@@relativeperspective hey it’s Brent again. I just did some more tinkering with my DT-200X and I made two more modifications that I would like to know if you are willing to make as well. After making the additional modifications my hacks hack has not stopped on any radio stations even while outside of the faraday box. I have walked around my whole house and it’s just running through the sweeps like desired. Let me know if you would like to try the additional modifications I made. It’s basically just bending out two more pins. I would love to have someone else try this as well to confirm the success.

Sangean makes great radios. It's a shame its being damaged to scan radio stations non stop. Why not try to modify the radio to scan an non active band for example 76-80mhz. No radio stations are found there to interfere with spirts coming through. Having it scan from 80-108mhz allows stations and random words to come through and misrepresent the spirits. We wouldn't want that would we?

Do you know where the antenna is on the board?

I know the external speaker port is used as the external antenna for the radio. You should be able to see where that connects to/solders to the board inside the radio, but just know that if you disconnect that from the board you won’t be able to use an external speaker any more. I unfortunately broke my Sangean as I continued to tinker with it and no longer have one to physically reference.
Thank you for this! I'm having issues with it stopping on radio stations when it sweeps. I can get the sweeping sound, but it will stop on a station. Any ideas? I did not take out the receiver.
Hey Curtis, ok, did you maintain the internal speaker and are you using just the internal speaker (not connecting anything to the headphone Jack)? I only ask this because anything connected to the headphone Jack will increase the antenna’s strength. If I’m understanding you correctly it sound like you kept all the antenna components so the radio is going to want to stop at frequencies that are very strong. I showed this in the video as an issue I had as well even when I removed all antenna components. Restricting the antennas ability to match frequencies is the only way to truest combat it stoping. Either remove antenna components as I did, or block the RF from reaching the radio. You can cheaply and easily block most or all the RF by wrapping the radio in aluminum foil or lining a small box (wood or cardboard) with aluminum foil and placing the radio in the box. This will still allow all sound to be heard but will weaken or complain block RF to the receiver. You will still get the white noise and potentially some radio station blips, but it should not stop on a radio station any more.
Hit us back if that works or doesn’t, and if not we can see if there are any other options.

We will be implementing the one I made during our next investigation on June 11th. I will be using it as shown in this video and in a faraday box I made as well to show the difference and test it out in a true ITC session to see how spirits interact with it.

After doing this I have not had the radio stop on any radio stations, even outside of the faraday box. I walked around my whole house and it hasn’t stopped it’s sweep yet. Let me know if you are willing to make the additional changes and I will provide details. I would love to have someone else confirm this success from their end.
I followed along exactly, but still can't get a sweeping sound, any advice?

Are you set to FM? Only time I noticed that there was no sweeping sound (RF white noise) was when set to AM.
Are you using the internal speaker or an external speaker? If internal, did you make sure that the connections to the speaker are still good. Maybe try connecting an external speaker to verify the issue persists. Also, and I’m sure you already tried this, but make sure the volume is all the way up. Oh, and make sure the correct setting is chosen on the side for either internal speaker, or mono external speaker or stereo external speaker.
Other than those things I can’t think of any reason you wouldn’t hear the unit sweeping through the radio stations.
Let us know if you can think of anything else that may provide clues we can use to help you figure out the issue.

It does we’re working on a new radio kit that we can adjust the rate of scan to use for our ghost boxes there’s a few shorts on the channel with the 3 models we have.
