I helped a friend install this kit and everything went super smooth even though I've never installed the Model X frunk kit before. When I went to test the unit it would not pull the hood down. Scratched my head for hours and then my friend came to help. He noticed the hook on the hood itself was installed by Tesla way off center. We loosened it, centered it, and it all worked like a charm. Wasted a lot of time because of quality control from Tesla so my tip to anyone considering this kit is to make sure the upper hook lands center of the latch and adjust this right from the get go.
Hi, Yes this problem is more common to S and X, we will try to put some troubleshoot FAQ section on our installation manual. Thank you for the feedback.
Hello Raymond, My MX shut completely down at no fault of your product. After hard reset to get everything going again the FRUNK needs to be reset because it opens and closes very slow. The control box light is blinking. I tried to reset it. After holding the button down for about 5 seconds it finally beeped once. I thought if I continued to press it would allow me to set the speed, I cannot get to beep again. Any suggestions? Dale Scott
You mention, "this connection is for the button". What does the button do? What is it used for? Also you mention two wire connectors that are not used in the model X and they should be taped off. Are they for other Telsa Models of for future accessories?
The two wire connection is for potential future use, we don't do any function for them yet, just saved up for future if there's anything we can do with it. And regarding the connection for the button statement...let me rewatch the video and see
@@EVOffer I am sorry, I thought you said button, but you are saying buzzer. What does the buzzer do? Explain what the future plans for the 2 extra (unused) wires?
@@dalescott5427 the buzzer is just there for notifying the opening and closing of frunk (and also for speed setting), it is optional and can be removed. For the two idle connector, we don't have any plans yet. They might never be used.
@@EVOffer Using those unused wire connectors, would it be possible to wire an open/close button on the Frunk. Like on the rear trunk, when you approach with the key fob, you can reach down and open the rear trunk by pushing a button on outside of MX trunk. Once open you can push another button to close the rear trunk. Couldn't you wire the frunk to work somewhat like the rear trunk lid? Thank you.
It’s a Tesla-Elon-Musk-May-Be-A-Genius-But-He’s-No-Car-Designer-thing. This oversight is another indication that Tesla has not been designing and building cars for very long. They missed on a lot of owner conveniences that other auto manufacturers build in without even thinking about it - overhead door handles, door handles in the door, door pockets, seat pockets, door power frunk lifts, foot activated, tailgate liftsand other convenience pictures that we take for granted in other makes. Apparently, “EEEELON”, wanted a “clean design”. The Model Ss and Xs have clean design interiors alright, but not very practical ones.
Why didn’t you do this outside where there is bright light? As a marketing and install video this is a big fail. If you going to spend all that time making the video, make it great not just half ass in the dark. Just my two cents.
OMFG ... great video but wished you did this in better lighting. Thanks for this!!!

So glad I read your comment - Had the same issue with my car, but thanks to you I was prepared and fixed it without too much hassle.
Dude, you deserve well over 1 million subscribers. But keep up the good works. I think you will get there.
Very clear instructions. Thanks!
If you turn on closed caption it says you are requesting a t-30 socket and what you mean is a t-13 socket, I think.
No, it's T30

The button question, can you refer to which time on the video? I rewatched the video and can't locate it.

What about Tesla warranty will it get void
Tesla warranty is great, unless they can prove your modification caused a problem then the warranty will be honored, that's what i read anyway
Is the Mark 4 the same install as Mark 3 on Model X?
mark 4 is not available on Model X yet
Lighting could be much better and why not just make it part of the car already
