I just bought a set of Goodyear Wrangler radials at Walmart , the tires looked good , everything seemed ok . After a week I checked the manufacturer dates ; 1905 , two 1906's & a 1907 . These tires are 19 , 18 & 17 years old ( I'm writing this now - 3 - 2024 ). Apparently there are no regulations against selling dangerously outdated tires . The Fed says tires should be replaced after 6 yrs. Guess Walmart has no problem endangering it's customers ...

I am in the market for four new tires. After looking at your review of the tires you bought from Walmart and your experience with them, I'm on my way to purchase a set of 4 Douglas all season tires. I know it's been a while since you posted this video. Hope I will be happy with them as you were. Thanks a lot. You helped me make a good choice of tires for my Toyota Corolla 2015. Thank you so much for posting! Have a blessed day.

Douglas tires are made by Goodyear specifically for Walmart, perfectly acceptable cheap value-oriented tires. I’ve bought the Goodyear Viva3’s and their replacements, the Goodyear Reliants which are nice mainstream mid-grade all season tires, also made specifically for Walmart. They’re rated 600AA for treadwear, traction and temp and seem to last and perform well. I’ll generally replace my tires before the mileage warranty come up, tires generally don’t wear that long for me but I won’t bother making a claim as long as they last reasonably long enough. Walmart tire installation is cheap, sometimes free around Black Friday so always a pretty good deal. Downside is they get busy so don’t expect fast service.

I would check the date code on tires from Walmart. They typically sell tires that are a couple years old not a problem if you drive a lot of miles but if you’re purchasing winter tires that you’re only gonna use seasonally they’ll probably hit five years before they’re worn out.

Keep in mind though, Walmart, unlike tire shops, as a non-negotiable policy, will not ever allow you to exchange for a different tire if the tire is driven on. For example, if the tire is extremely loud, or does not meet your expectations, they will not exchange nor return them. And this is in contrast to discount tire, Belle tire, Firestone dealers, Goodyear dealers, etc. Etc. Where if you have a problem with the selection, they will at least prorate it for an exchange. Buyer beware with Walmart.

You pay $40 dollars more but you get a quality tire to being with, plus the warranty certificate and if they bulge, have a blow out, a cash on the sidewalk, or a patch will not work or is destroyed by road debris they replace it 100% no questions asked. Also, when a manufacturer does business with Wally World's they cut corners in quality and manufacturing to bring the price down to Walmart Standard. I bought a set of 4 for a 1998 Corolla like 25 years ago and after 18 month they started to bulge. Never again. I had a set of Goodyear Viva 3 on a 2012 Honda Pilot (AWD). These tires lasted a whole 20,000 miles. After fighting with Walmart for 90 minutes and dealing with 3 managers, they finally gave in and warranted them and sold me a new set for $20/tire. The 2nd set lasted 16,000 miles!! I had rotated both sets every 7,000 miles and 99.9% of the time was driving on asphalt and .01% on gravel. By far the worst set of tires I've ever owned and the worst experience dealing with Walmart managers to honor the guarantee they display right on their counter. I'm glad you had a good experience with these tires and Walmart but I will never purchase tires from Walmart again. The extra $100 you spend for Firestone or Nokian at a reputable tire shop is worth it to me. I've since had a set of Nokian tires installed 16,000 miles ago and they still have 70% tread left. How do I know?... it shows a percentage gauge right on the tire and they are way better on snow and ice.

Walmart is the worse place to buy tires and you pay extra for a road hazard. Their service is bad and going back to them again for tire issues will be a nightmare. Buying very expensive tires with high mileage is another myth. Warranty only lasts for one year from the date of purchase at most places if your tire tread wears off. Also, some places ask you for proof of tire rotation and wheel balancing.

I'm an old school motorhead and only buy Continental tires, the "Contact" series exclusively. I had to throw out a whole set of 1/4 worn Coopers off my Jeep and Cross Contacts just came out. They're made by computer in Mexico in a completely automated factory. And today have a 91% best brand rating at Tire Rack. And Tire Rack should know, they've sold gazillions of tires of every brand; quite possibly to your own shop. That review is based on people who have actually bought the tires. Not some "experts" opinion. Over the years, since "Contacts" first came out, I've had about 20 sets and have never had a single problem with any one of them. That's the first thing I do when I buy a car. Even a new car, is put a set of Connies on it and don't worry about it. And I've done that with 1 new car and 2 new Jeeps now. Most new cars come with 28 dollar tires. Really. You can't even buy them and they're usually shot in 20,000 miles. Many of my "Contact" tires were purchased at Tire Rack because they're hard to find. And if they have them, you have them within a week. And their tread designs are excellent and have DWS imprints on the 2nd rib. (dry, wet, snow) When the S disappears, it's no longer rated for snow. When the W disappears, it's no longer rated for wet weather. When the D disappears the tire is worn out. I know of no other manufacturer that does this and these are 70,000 mile tires. I even have a pair of Teva sandals for my feet with Continental tire bottoms on them. Don't ask me. I've only had one flat tire out of over 90 tires and it was a nail. From Cross Contacts for my SUV's and Jeeps, to Extreme Contacts for my cars and Hot Rods. Continental's are the only tires I trust, or buy, and I'm currently running 4 sets of them. And when you're running 4 sets of tires, you better be sure. I Have more trouble with my rims than I do my tires. Modern factory alloy rims start corroding the day you get them and the valve stems start leaking. They have to hone out the hole and glue them in. Really, I'm not making this up, you'll see. All the rest of the major tire manufacturers are garbage. If you see a huge dent in your sidewall, it's not NORMAL like your dealer says; that tire is junk and isn't even round. They bounce when you drive down the road and wear your struts and suspension bushings out. That is also why you can't balance them properly. Cooper really disappointed me and Good Year has always been junk. Except in Semi Trucks: Michelin and Bridgestone are the most over rated tires there are. In the winter, Michelin's are useless and won't even let you leave your own driveway. Just ask my brother. And Firestone and Uniroyal? Are they even still in business? They shouldn't be. Dunlop makes excellent Motorcycle tires and that's about it. Pirelli makes good tires, and they wear out so fast you have to replace them every year, or even twice. They're only good for 7,000 miles. NOT 70. Continentals are standard equipment on many European cars and should be on all cars. They're weight rated for the car you buy them for, so they always ride very smooth. But hey, that just the opinion of one old school motorhead, who's been around the block a few times. Take free advice for what it's worth.

In only 3 1/2 years dry rots with only about several hundreds of fine cracks lines on all sidewalls of all 4 tires smiling at me.
Brought it back to COSTCO with its famous posted black and white powerful warranty behind their beans counter.
They blamed me for all the dry rots and all the sidewalls cracks. With a big no no instore warranty claim or adjustment.
They asked me a double sword question of " Do you use tire shine or not?"
    Guess what ?
    I said " YES".
He replied back " You shouldn't be supposed to use any tire shine or rubber preservatives products ."
They give me Michelin's own representatives toll free number to deal with me.
The Michelin Co. representative tells me to go to one of their independent privately owned tire shop near me to get another evaluation.
Guess what? The same tire dressing question?
He ask me do I use any tire shine products again.
    I quickly realized it's a double-edged sword question.
If you use tire dressing products, it means you are using chemicals are a no-no for the Michelin tires.
If you said you don't use tire dressing products, which means you don't take care of your tires.
It ends up another no and forfeit warranty claim.
Then the Michelin tire rep, give me another tire shop located much farther away from this location for me to get another evaluation for warranty claim.
I realize this is just another RUNABOUT GAME Michelin played to F#*k me up to get rid of me from warranty claim.
No warranty claim on a 5 years FAMOUS Warranty.
I will never look at MICHELIN tires again after this HALL OF SHAME GAME 🎮 they played on consumers like me.

Instead of a load rating on the tire it just said Load Rating - Appropriate. I tried calling Goodyear and was told that their computer system could not actually access that data. Walmart had Goodyear lock that info out of their customer support systems. Also if you do road trips... sure you can find Walmarts all over but they may not have your tire should you have a problem. I will be trading in my wife’s car in 2-3 months from now and of course her tires are worn so went on line to find the best tire for least amount, never knew Walmart does this. Well I caught a sale on a pair of Kuhmo’s that was too good to be true at Walmart so thought how bad could they be? Well here’s my story….made an appointment on line for a Tuesday at 4-5pm, tried to call the store over 1/2 dozen times when I finally got through the lady said they needed to contact me about this because they close at 4pm and cannot accommodate me earlier. I asked when she can she put me hold to check without muting me for over 15 minutes when i finally hung up. Not only put me on hold but carried on a lovely conversation with a customer during that almost like she was purposely sticking to me? So went online rescheduled for 2 days later at noon came in to hear them tell a customer that they couldn’t get his lug nuts off so he’d have to come back? Ok been replacing tires since 1980s and never heard of a shop not being able to get lugs off so when he left they took my car and said it would take an hour hour and half longest. About 1/2 hour in tech comes out with my lug lock tool saying its worn and spinning on lug cannot get rear tires off, said he two techs try neither could. I asked if he is using it correct then said can I try, they had to ask the manager this so supervisor went out to get her. In this time tech apologized and i said i may have a second tool in my trunk can i look, said sure so we went to my car. Didn’t have a second one in trunk but saw breaker bar with socket so picked it up placed lock tool on lug moved it until it engaged then first pull loosen lug. I torqued this to 95ft lbs last time i had tire off so knew they would come easy. Told him its loose he gave me a dumbfounded look so i went to other rear one and did the same first tug loose. Asked if he wanted me to loosen the remainder because i need tires that day said no he can manage them. Over 2 1/2 hours my tires were completed…i asked why so long supervisor responded “sorry tech was not on his game that day” she couldn’t figure out how to get him focused. Now i was dumbfounded that she told me that? I asked am i going to be safe driving the 40 minutes home on the highway? She didn’t charge me for install. Drove home nervous but tires had no wobble so appears balanced correctly then when i torqued all four tires at home had confidence i was good. Wow just wow, top it off when i was leaving the tech who was working on the car that they brought in while checking me out came and told supervisor that they couldn’t get 3 lug nuts off. To summarize i witnessed Walmart attempt to replace tires on 4 different cars while I was there, the technicians had issues getting lug nuts off 3 of the 4 cars brought in for new tires. Wow just wow having gone through this I WILL NEVER CONSIDER Walmart ever again even though these tires were so inexpensive.

Walmart tires are low priced, because they’re low end tires. The rest is marketing BS. Some of the tire brands are well known, but it’s their lowest performance tires the brands make. One telling sign on Walmart tires is there is no speed rating. Meaning they’re low performance tires.

I agree, I generally don't trust Walmart to even look at my car. Sometimes they have such a good deal on highly rated tires that I can't turn down. I double check their work before I go down the road though. There's not a chance in hell that if let them tough my oil though. I'm very happy with my General Exclaim HPX and Dextero DAT1's for the price, and it seems my Walmart is at least capable of mounting a tire without fucking anything up. I still take pictures of my car before I let them touch it in case they do screw my car over. I also wouldn't put Goodyear or Douglas on my, and that's the majority of what they carry.

My door label on my Jeep shows 215/75/15. The dealer says that size wasn't even available the year my car was built. I got the manager at Walmart to agree to install tires one size larger than stock (235/75/15 vs 225/75/15), but I already have 30's on it now. So I bought the tires from Walmart, and I scheduled the install with the dealer.
