Brian is so right! If you are a fan of Goulet pens you really WOULD have a LOT of fountain pens! I started last year with a Platinum Preppy on a whim ... and I had to learn more. And after subscribing to your channel .... that was it! I was hooked! Great video as always!
You all crack me up! Sometimes I think "oh gosh, I can't look at this because I will just want something else..." And, yes, I am a pen addict. Thank you for making me laugh... and write more letters!
Literally yesterday i'm just thinking "when will goulet do a video about pen cases/sleeves" and now here it is! But most of pen sleeves/cases cost about the same or more than a pen (even the non-leather one) here, so i sew my own pen sleeve, experimenting with different kind of threads and fabric, including syntethic leather.
Definitely something we're looking into! The issue we've run into is the minimum quantities for some of these pen trays is crazy high. But if we find one that's great and makes sense, could be something we add! - Colin
If you sold crazy socks with nibs, ink bottles, pens, etc. on them, I would buy multiple pairs. Just so I could show how completely crazy I am about my pens.
Hi, thanks for the fun video. :) I like to have sturdy, rigid cases (1-3 pens, I never want to carry more with me around) that keep the pens from breaking when I carry them with heavy books in my backback. For at home I would like something to display around 10 pens, upright, not a lot to unpack, so I can quickly decide which pen to use next.
So Beautiful. There are no various fountain pen cases in Korea that carry large pens such as Montblanc 149. So I made a fountain pen case with my father who does leather craft as a hobby. It was shown to the fountain pen lovers around, who filmed and uploaded a video on RUclips to show many people the process of making it. I'd like to improve my pen case further to make a good quality pen case.
I used to carry around rolled-up case too! And then it became too cumbersome to roll everything out because it's pretty long. I have 2 models of Manhattan Portage now that I carry around.
Drew reminds me of me, the way he gets riled up and how he freely expresses himself. Hilarious! (I've been watching/listening to the pencast... but have yet to leave a comment on any episode) When everyone laughed as Drew mentioned his stellar memory - 🤣. I burst out laughing at everyone's reaction. Drew's included. 🤣
I'm just new to the fountain pen world. Loving your videos...I'm learning a lot. This video...has me cracking up guys...🤣. You guys are funny as heck. Thanks for all information you provide. A latina fountain pen lover here.
My dad bought one of the pen briefcases at the Dallas Pen Show last year. I have an envelope one similar to the Franklin-Christoph Penvelope. I keep Q-Tips and a paper napkin in there, for cleaning caps so I don't get ink on airline seats or my grandmother's couch.
Design idea for case makers: The zippered, hard, multi pen case (like girologio) but done in canvas in interesting colors (not brown black tan) like orange, blue, grey etc...
To keep your pens from jostling around in the second case you showed, just put some filler material in the bottom like cotton balls, wadded up paper, etc to take the extra space and your pens won't move around and you'll never see the filler material in the bottom.
You've helped me in the past. I hope you can again. I am in need of an EDC case to house my 6 Kaweco Sports withs clips. Standard pen cases are too long (tall). I am open to any material (leather, nylon, canvas, metal, etc.), style (case, sleeve, wrap, etc.), color (blue, red, green, black, etc.). :) What I do need is slim with dividers for each pen. PLEASE HELP!!!
This was an interesting commentary on pen cases. I don't use them; I carry my pens in a shirt pocket if they have clips, in a trouser pocket if they don't. Those pens that I don't use on a regular basis I store loose in cigar boxes. I don't buy pens to collect; I use every one that I buy. Although I don't deliberately abuse my pens, I expect that they will be exposed to minor dings & scratches. Some pens came with a pen slip or "Kimono" when they arrived, but I always give those away.
Nice to hear Brian likes the Sheaffer 300. That 96 pen briefcase looks amazing. Have you seen the Kaco pen cases for 10 and 20 pens? I really like that style.
Any chance you could do a work/professional pens list? Maybe talk about inks as well? I know you have done the inks a while back but I'm in college, headed into a very serious and competitive internship and was wondering if I should take my pens, which ones, and how to treat the pen obsession in the work place. Thanks so much! Love everything you do -I currently have an Lamy LX, a Noodlers Ahab, a Safari, a Faber Castel Loom, 2 Metropolitans, and a couple of their cheap pens like Jinhaos and 2 Nemosines. That having been said most of them are kinda vibrant or non traditional colors and the only bottled inks I have are Noodlers Dragons Breath and Lamy Pacific Blue - I mainly ask the question because it’s an internship with an international company where I will be dealing with people in other governments, the UN, etc. big people and I don’t want to be out of place more than I already will be

Expensive pens are like expensive wines - the nature of the item already looks fancy but unless you're a connoisseur there's not going to be a difference between high and and low end. It's going to be hard to tell between a $10 pen and a $200 pen for most people. (Have you ever seen a Sailor 1911S and a Monteverde Monza side by side? That's what I'm talking about.)
I'm not sure what you have or like, but the x750, metropolitan (plumix med stub nib or pluminix bold stub if you want a little more), twsbi mini, and century 3776 have been my go to pens when I want to be professional. If I need a rollerball I use my metropolitan gel roller. It takes g2 refills and if you have the time and silicone grease, you can replace the ink with whatever you want. I'm thinking of trying baystate blue when I put my next order in. If I were you I'd go with a metropolitan fountain and a gel roller. Depending on where you order from, you can get both for around $25.

I wish I was handy and creative woodworking wise.
