This is where my 12 year old mind was absolutely blown when Niko first steps out of that dumpy little apartment and we get the health tutorial showing us the hot dog vender followed by complete freedom to do whatever we wanted.
The NPCs walking and chatting and all doing different things, the vehicles driving by with their radios on and being able to hear the music from the outside, the subway trains flying by above, the airplanes flying around the map and the ambient sounds of their jet engines, I was amazed at the scale of every single little thing in this game.
So charming.

I love liberty city brings me back to 2008 vibe a time where the market crashed but the city still looks beautiful.

This game blew my 8 year old mind. I couldn't fathom what I was seeing. And the dark tone was perfect, I loved "adult" feeling things as a kid... it felt so out of touch, far away and taboo.
I went from mostly seeing PS2 and Wii games, to playing Midnight Club LA and being blown away by its graphics, to seeing the same company branding on this game, and being mindblown you could actually exit the vehicles. I can never forget my first experience with GTA, glad it was GTA4 of all of GTAs. Just hits different

40:40 that alarm sound is stuck with me since i first played it back in 2008. It feels different to get out of the first house at night and hear this play. The sound desing in this game is next level. The most immersive title i have ever played.

This game still holds up to this day so well! It’s still my favorite game ever in terms of open world atmosphere and realism. I really hope GTA 6 will be similar to this game in terms of detail, and just overall feel
