- Oliver is a writer, TED speaker, and the bestselling author of several books, including: “The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking”, and “Help! How to Become Slightly Happier and Get More Things Done.” This conversation focuses on Oliver’s most recent book: 4,000 Weeks, which is about making the most of the very brief amount of time we all have here on the planet. There have been few books that have impacted me as much as this one, and if you can apply some of Oliver’s insights and perspectives, they have the potential to dramatically transform your relationship with time, into one that feels life-giving, rather than crushing. It’s not just me either. Adam Grant has called it “The Most Important Book Ever Written About Time Management”, while Krista Tippet says: “It invites nothing less than a new relationship with time - and with life itself.” You can learn more about Oliver’s work at www.oliverburkeman.com, follow him on twitter @oliverburkeman, and get a copy of the book here.

Thank you for letting him talk and listening
I hope his ideas become more well-known... this all seems to be very healthy thinking that is much needed in our world
I started writing my life story about six months ago. It gave me the opportunity to take an honest look at how I spent my time, as I moved through the decades. What a great way to wake up to myself and feel more relaxed and alive.
This is an excellent interview - changed my day and more.....
Thank you Neill for this, - allowing Oliver such time (how ironic)...to so freely discuss and express his thinking/insights here. Unlike another Podcast, I was listening to, but not subscribed fully, with a well known "other". The book is on my list for early purchase in 2022. How can it not be?
I love his example of batching the milking of cows to get it all done and out of the way. I started laughing because I used to do that-not with milking cows but I put a strain on myself by how I focused my time. An all or nothing approach - wow! Good insight.
This fell into my lap this morning and it was exactly what I needed.
I am so grateful for this interview - wonderful timing to have this arrive in my recommendations at this point in my journey - and I look forward to picking this book up for a Christmas holiday read. With much appreciation 🙏
Major and critical ideas. As in world changing. Thank you! 🎇
Is it ironic listening to this at 1.5x speed? XD
2:55 the question is not, what is the answer? The question is, what is the question?
The book the book the book.
Folder of time
26:58 I don't need to get on top of my use of time, but what's available is inhabiting it more fully
28:37 the ontological perspective
37:13 Rod Stuart even tours with his train set?!
