When Keith improvised the Part Ⅱc, the Muse came down from heaven into him and made him give this miraculous performance to the audience in Köln. He was just a channel of this celestial music. The musical note of this performance can never express the essence of this performance then.

Sono d'accordo... un brano senza tempo e senza spazio, un infinito eterno, un divenire perpetuo di bellezza armonia e melodia!

exquitely tuneful end to the whole concert, it was the piece
that most knocked him out at the concert itself.

Many are called, but few are chosen to play like Keith Jarrett

      'Treasure Island' by Keith Jarrett
The treasure has always been there
      It is not hiden
But is only where certain people would look
      At all
Thus it remains a secret to the rest
      And to solace themselves
      They say it's hidden
      Or buried
      To still their invading thoughts
      ---
      Some are calm and content
Or at peace, in their words
      Some are stirred and cloudy
But they are improving their vision
      ---
      Of the island
      Of themselves

My favorite part of this piece is the magic created by the melody and by the inner voices being played at a slow tempo. Starting at 2:53 there is an immediate shift in tempo. This slow section lasts for 2.5 minutes getting slower and slower until the last note at 5:23 (After that the audience waited for 10 seconds of silence before they clapped their hands in applause.) The emotional content of those 2-1/2 minutes is deep and powerful, much more than anything at faster tempos. That technique should be used more often. It is so effective.
I’m also a big fan of the inner lines as they define and alter the harmony. Another good example of that is Dexter’s Tune by Randy Newman from the movie Awakenings. Check that out.

Nah, this playing deserves it. It’s all part of the atmosphere. If the applause is cut out completely or faded out quickly, it takes the listener out of the performance when the music has done so much to bring them in.
