I don't know what's more impressive pilot skill or this taxi queue
Ditto. 11 waiting to go. Nasty day at Narita.
Wellll, if yer at Heathrow, you have a better chance of Jesus getting back before getting final clearance for a takeoff roll....
Well, the pilot skill wasn’t that impressive. 😂
yepp, that lining up on taxiway, queuing for take off is more impressive... 😁especially with those international outbond planes with full load of fuel and cargo, so they have to wait another minute until the wake vortices is less impacting... 😅
That 747 pilot seemed to be at war with the yoke
Bro that’s so rude!
@@analogman9697 but he's not fat...
1. what does being fat have to do with it?
2. He's not fat
3. the fact that you're saying this makes me think you are
@@techcenter1696 Can you read and analyze? I suggested that he is NOT FAT as a result of the exercise derived from flying. Dullard!
That impression is due to fast motion.
No fat captains because of all the yoke “workouts” not every comment on RUclips is an insult, y’all need to chill and not take everything at first thought.
That 747 pilot has some excellent skills nicely done Captain 👍
He was earning his paycheck that day!
And the landing looked absolutely beautiful
Looked like George Clooney at the controls 😅
And to achieve that while being thrown around in his seat the whole time…!
I don't understand why the 747 is only cargo now
That first clip reminds me of what it looks like when I give my 3 year old a fake controller to play with his older brother..
Ok but why are you showing your t*ts ?
Bro that 747 pilot is a true good one!
The 747 captain is part of the airplane.
Amazing the work this gentleman did to land this lady of the sky!
Well done captain!🧑✈️
The first video is insane. The amount of input he's giving that plane, but it appears to be flying completely smoothly. The guy's like a computer.
bro is literally PID
Or a fortune teller who reacts to the gusts he thinks are coming.
That's because most of his inputs are probably useless. Some Boeing planes (for sure the 737 and I don't know for the 747) require a lot of yoke movement to produce effect on the flight controls, so small inputs like this have little to no effect on the flight path.
He was over controlling.
@@AnnicK.Zoloft well i've flown the 737 for many years and never needed that kind of inputs
It's like the first captain could see the wind and was compensating for it before he felt it. Crazy skills
It’s called over controlling.
He was compensating for his own inputs. Rapid movements of the yoke like that don't change aircraft flight path. Only sustained inputs change the flight path. Challenging conditions no doubt, but he could have achieved the exact same landing by just holding the column steady and only moving it when the aircraft attitude/path actually deviated. It's bad technique. That said, no doubt he is still a skilled pilot, but he could be even better if he stops pumping the yoke so quickly the plane doesn't have time to respond.

Check out 14:17 - Interesting comments from a former 777 test pilot on being rough with the controls
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 search up the dunning kruger effect. you may just be at the peak of mt. stupid
Sorry guys. That pilot is unnecessarily wrestling with the flight controls. Those are aggressive inputs without real need or purpose which is actually a common problem that’s reinforced over years of habit without correction. Even during the most extreme winds/weather conditions if those kinds of inputs are required to maintain stable flight a go-around/missed approach and diversion to another airport would probably be smart. That the aircraft doesn’t respond to such extreme inputs is a testament to its design (Boeing).
And it was actually a pretty nice day. Two of the clips in this video referred to storms that didn't exist.
He just took a selfie video to impress the girls and brag that flying was a heavy workout.
@@verifiedtoxicangel2411 Personally, I’m more impressed by pilots who can make to aircraft do what they need it to do with minimal inputs (just the minimum necessary). That’s what I strive for; bragging rights aside.
Yeah I was watching that with a skeptical eye. But I’ve not flown something with wings bigger than a light twin, so I can’t talk from experience. But it certainly looked like a lot of pointless and ineffective control inputs. Reminded me of learning to hover where you’re fighting yourself, instead of just relaxing and using fingertip control.
There are so many of these yoke pumpers out there and video narrators talking about how great these pilots are. I don’t know what’s worse the over controlling, or the RUclips creators posting this crap like it’s the correct way to fly your plane!?
The first pilot looked like me during my very first crosswind landing in a Cessna 152, about 25 years ago. Constant over-correcting, thinking I was in front of the plane when in fact I was behind it. You can see it starting at 0:25, his inputs become increasingly extreme. He's reacting to every little buffet of wind rather than actually flying the airplane. Look at his hand on the yoke, he's literally white-knuckling it. You'd think he was landing an F-18 on the USS Harry S. Truman in a zero visibility thunderstorm. It's actually kind of scary, he seems at the very edge of his abilities. Can't believe he's a 747 captain. Also, iPhone ear buds?
KC-390s grow up to be C-17s
C-17s grow up to be C-5s
Never, Boeing never
I've always wondered about that. Thanks 😊
Like Pokémon evolutions, KC-390, C-17, C-5
This channel needs to be a 90 minute movie. The 3 minutes of quality clips you put out is not enough.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That’s one strong captain of the B747 landing in stormy weather
You saw a storm?
I wouldn't normally comment on these but man.. as a 777 FO i gotta say the cap on the first clip was showing off for the camera haha even when i was on the 73, nobody ever needed that much input. And that was based in windy Scotland!
It bugs me to see a plane overcontrolled as well.
Dammit I hadn't considered that, but I hope you're wrong 😂
I don't think so. The concentration was real. And watch how he input full aileron to the right after landing. And the way he shook in his seat. Rough conditions.
Do you also think he was jumping up and down on seat for effect? Looks legit to me.
Don't assume you've flown in all conditions just because you work in the field.
Dude. That first pilot. Wow!!!
Thanks.
That -8 Captain was WORKIN'! Great job!
fairly certain that the boeing captain in the first clip was having a seizure and the uploader mistook it for "skill"
I flew the 747 for many years. There is no other aircraft I’d rather fly in a storm… she handles beautifully.
Fun fact I was actually at my house when the Lufthansa 747 did a go around at Toronto and I saw it. It was pretty crazy. But I didn't know the reason why it did a go around but now I know. Thank you!
YYZ - my home and native airport
you were at your house? how fun!
Looked like it came in too fast.
I see Boeing and Airbus have decided to make this personal😂😂
74 looked more like he was in a boxing match!
The landing scene in the movie Airplane also comes to mind 😅
0:15 - 0:45 WOW!! that plane is giving that Captain a total workout, he had to manhandle that plane for a safe landing...well done...fighting it all the way down.
Fighting himself all the way down.

Superb as always ! Who doesn't love a 747 ❤❤
The F-15 Strike Eagle still gives me goosebumps to this day.
Very good stuff all around in this one...and we didn't even get a "contribution" from Aerosucre...lol.
Was stationed at Lajes, Azores 2001-2003...that last clip brought back a flood of good memories while I was there. My son was born in Angra. Oh to have a mista and galao right now...
The first video…I wouldn’t have that job for any amount of money. But I’m glad someone can do it.
1st Clip = Respect!!! 😎
You already know everyone is all the planes lined up in the first clip were watching that 747-8 with a fresh bucket of popcorn hahaha, that captain has such incredible focus and skill, I plan to be able to fly like that for KLM later on!!
Sadly klm retired its passenger 747’s. They got really awesome planes tho
They were probably spilling their popcorn watching him get thrown around. 11 of them in the lineup. Nasty day at Narita.
The KC-390 smokes it, but this 3 minutes was full of good clips!
It's hard to go wrong when you double up on the 74's, but you maximized returns.
Great video
Thank you for this channel. Love it!!
The first segment reminds me of a chat I was having with a friend. Somehow "could you land a commercial plane in an emergency" came up and he said "yes". I'm a pilot, and he's not, and I said "not unless conditions were perfect". This kinda demonstrates what I was talking about. Sure, I can put a Cessna 182 down in gusty crosswind, but that muscle memory of wrestling 3000lb to the ground is not necessarily going to work well getting 800,000lb down.
To be fair, you didn't specify that the plane had to be in one piece at the end. :)
Have you ever heard of Hydraulics..?
@@dstrome That was covered. Not so much "land without damage" but the "any landing you can walk away from is a good landing" spirit.

That first guy looked like he just found out his wife was cheating on him with the yoke.
that KC landing was beautiful. i'll bet the pilot had his heart in the back of this throat, though!

For the 747, what we don’t see here is that in addition to wrestling the Yoke he is managing the pedals too at the same time !! Absolutely amazing 👍👍!!
Nothing amazing here. He was over controlling. And no, you don’t manage pedals in a 747. Not until you are in the flare.
Thanks
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183you have no idea of what you speak. 30 years on the 747, 25 in the left seat. 200s, 400s and 8s. If you weren’t there, you wouldn’t know.
@@loub747 just like me, there are some other pilots in the comments. Maybe read those comments first. I’ve got similar experience as you, 32 years and a training Captain. This is classic over control. It’s a very bad habit. Others in the comments, who I know have even more experience compared to me, have made the same observation.
I don’t know if this is you in the video, but if it is, maybe you should show some other pilots.
Remember, it’s never too late to learn.
I’ve known guys who didn’t think they were doing things wrong, until they found out that everybody talked about their bad habits.
@@loub747 I looked at your channel. I guess it is you. Still doesn’t change what I said, it’s classic over control. Do you really think these inputs changes anything?
Also, when I train FOs, one of the things I look for is what they look at with their eyes. Seeing you, you should have your eyes outside, not inside. The runway is out front, not inside your cockpit.
Experience doesn’t mean much. I’ve seen low time first officer who fly circles around 25 year Captains.
Nice ⚡️ 👍 ✈️
The 747 pilot - great landing! Respect🤜🤛I wonder if he was playing "Danger zone" at full volume in his earpiece🤣
First clip: I'm amazed that a plane the size of a 747 can respond to so many rapid inputs.
It can't.
Kudos to pilots...balls of steel
Could that last one be any more of a scaled down c17?
Absolute stud
Good to see him roll RWD input on rollout. Plenty of guys give up flying after touchdown.
Wow! That first pilots yoke handles like the steering wheel and column in my beater 1989 Chevy pickup truck. Shifter's à bit crotchety too. 😂😂

The first 747 landing.... there are so many sudden inputs to the yoke. How effective are they, and how much lag time is there between pulling on the yoke and the aircraft responding? He's really wrestling that thing to the ground.
He was wrestling with himself. A complete unnecessary and ineffective piloting technique.
Wow that first one gives the arms a workout. That Aer Lingus was very scared…
Wow! Seriously impressed with that Captains skills!
Major praise for the pilot of the cargo 747, well done sir! 👏
Reminds me of that scene from Airplane
Jesus he’s fighting that Yoke so hard damn
Blows my mind that it requires such extreme, herky jerky steering movements on the 747.

*Hi friends, have a nice day!*
BA & Virgin always colliding, but this time physically
What a WORKOUT..... I rather have a yoke than a joystick in that moment.
The Lufthansa 747 landing and go around looks a lot like the Lufthansa 747 late flair, slam down & go around at LAX 2 - 3 weeks ago.
I am now really curious as to what feedback that yoke has that gives him the information to correct like that.
Because holy crap, wow. Note to self, get a direct drive steering wheel for racing.

You can defend all you want. It’s your “buddy”, so you are biased. This guy has a bad habit and nobody told him about it throughout his career.
He already confronted me in a different thread. I told him to show the video to other pilots, but not his buddies and ask if they think it’s over controlling. He hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I know why, he won’t ask anyone because deep down he knows I’m correct.

The first landing captain burned more calories in a 5 minute landing then I do in an hour of cardio.
I got the sense that the first video was sped up. If you look at the other aircrafts on the ground, everything is moving too fast.
The 747 and the C-5 land surprisingly different from one another. You have to wrestle the 747 whereas you have to be smooth on the controls in a C-5.
That looked like a lot of over controlling. Are you saying all those inputs were completely necessary?
@@MeppyMan on the 747 - your best landings will be when you over-control it. Not at all so with the C-5 though.
@@jumboJetPilot you fly/flew both? I’ve watched pilots land 747 in stormy weather without that much input. I can’t even see how the surfaces would really react fast enough. I need to show this to an 74 captain buddy.
@@MeppyMan I flew C-5’s for 20 years and I’ve flown 747’s for 12 years now. There was an eight year stretch in there when I simultaneously flew both. I also flew corporate jets for three years back in the 2000’s.
In the 747, your best landings in gusty wind conditions are going to be when you wrestle it down to the ground. When guys try to be smooth and gentle that’s exactly when their landings will counterintuitively be rough and less controlled.
And remember kids, it's easier for you to explain why you went around instead of investigators figuring out why you didn't
