Also NRK must be payed by anyone in Norway which got a TV, so the channels are without commercials at all except for "sponsors" before big sport events.
Why you start television in all scandinavian countries so late? In my country Austria we have a 24 h transmission since 1995, on ORF 2 from 6 to 9 AM there is a break of transmission, from 6 to 7 AM usually you can see the teletext and from 7 to 9 AM many views of webcams installed in the country with weather and tourist informations. On ORF 1 the transmission goes 24 h, during the night and morning all series and programs from the afternoon and evening of the day before are repeated.

This was in the summer. Thats why it started so late.
Norway only has a population of 4 and half million and so the ratings are just not there. A show of 5,000 would be a prime time smash hit.

The TV goes on and on all day. Dosen't all TV stations do that today?
