ALAMAT p-pop group is more 'cultural' in a sense. Although BINI and SB19 still promote the Philippine aspect in their music, ALAMAT is more explicit and straightforward when it comes to showcasing Filipino cultures in their music.

The dance with the bamboo sticks shown in the beginning and on the rap section is called "singkil dance" which originates from the Maranao ethnic group where the male dancer is portraying a prince saving a princess (female dancer) from a sea monster (the bamboo poles) - of course the princess has her servant carrying an umbrella with her even in danger. The headdress has the sarimanok, a sacred bird.

The part where Jhoanna and Taneo were dancing with the four bamboo poles, that’s a traditional dance called Singkil. It’s actually a courtship dance between a prince and a princess.
The one where they’re dancing with just two bamboo poles (out on the field), that’s another traditional Filipino dance called Tinikling.

Filipino languages have a lot of short, sharp syllables which, because of the way the grammar works, are often repeated within the same word. IMO that's why Filipino rap sounds so good; it's like the words themselves have an inherent beat/rhythm.

They are also a very diverse group; from different parts of the PH, sing/rap in different languages (Tagalog, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Bikolano, and Waray-Waray), their dance consist of traditional dances/dance moves, and they can do different genres of songs. I really hope that you like them and become a fan of them like I am haha thank you for the reaction!!☺️

Alamat's Jao (along with idols from 5 other PPop groups) was interviewed by Billboard PH about The Future of PPop. It covered several issues plaguing the industry but it also brought out some of what's so good about them. They were also asked what songs from other PPop groups they liked. That could be a good source of recommendations.

Some of the most well-known urban legends in the Philippines are partially featured in those amazing songs. Additionally, they incorporate the various dialects used by Filipinos into their songs. PPOP has such good music identity (and is still a growing industry). However, ALAMAT is very well known in the PPOP community to be the group with the 'no-skip discography' and the one who embodies Filipino culture and tradition through their music (from their clothes, to songs, dance and concept) the most. If you keep watching them, every single song/music video will have at least one (or more) reference or nod to our diverse culture.
ps. THEY HAVE SUCH GOOD RNB MUSIC and MO (the one with the braids) is BLASIAN (his dad is black american and his mother is filipino), and he's very proud of it.
Recommended MV follow up's on them:
    - Dagundong (rap heavy with epic instrumentals and lyrics inspired on Philippine history)
    - Day And Night (very summer song sung in different Filipino languages + folk instrumentals)
    - Dayang (this song is inspired from Maharani (according to the producer), its very folk sounding as well)

Hi just to let you know and clarify :
That is a Filipino folk dance called : SINGKIL = ethnic dance from the Maranao people of Mindanao. 2nd largest island in the Philippines.
Different from another folk dance which is called TINIKLING. This dance is from Luzon, the largest island.
ALAMAT infuses their lyrics with poetic Tagalog. 1 of the major languages used in our country. Filipino is partly based on this language and our national language.
This is based from my Husband who went to the Philippine High school for the Arts, which specializes and promotes deep study for our national or folk dance and song. Among other forms of classical artistic studies.
Lakambini according to the Vocabulario de la Lengua Tagala : is a Deity. Goddess of throat ailments.
Partnered with the deity : Lakampati.

    Welcome to Ppop
Been waiting for more Ppop reaction aside from BINI thank you for reacting to Alamat (Legend) underrated but with overflowing talent. They are one of those groups who represent Pilipino traditions and culture. Their music, they also use different dialects here in Philippines and they use traditional Pilipino instruments.

Hey Seb! Thanks for reacting! Hope you enjoyed Maharani. I hope you can check other Alamat songs like Dagundong, Dayang, Day and Night, Aswang and others.
The scene on the first part is called "singkil" and is one of the traditional dances here in the Philippines. The head dress of Jho is a Sarimanok which is a mythical creature in the Philippines.
P.s my guy with the interesting hair is Mo Mitchell, a half-Filipino, half-black American. ❤
