    Like you I am a fan of both 337s and Lakes. After watching this and saw you bring up the motivational poster, I was reminded of a sign I saw at an armed forces repair facility in BC. It read :
    There are certain qualities needed in people who dedicate their lives to aircraft maintenance. They hold , not the whole world, but somebody's life, hope, dreams and love, in their hands. If we, as aircraft maintainers, falter in our tasks and allow these bright shining things to slip through our hands like water to become mud in the dust below, we have not only lost them but also the purpose that gives our lives meaning. It is a great and sacred trust to hold somebody's world in your hands.
    Thanks for showing us a good example of a facility that is doing it right.

    Beautiful A/C. I am totally jealous of the chromate.
    I installed WAT OR5002V LED Tail Position/Anti-Collision Light Assy on my 77 337G as I had a bad power pack AND flash tube. I had extra power pack, but the strobe head cost made no sense. Easy install. Removed some wire and connected it right up. Hope you got yours fixed. By the way it is stupidly (like painfully) bright. The STC was easy. Still have comet flash tip strobes but put in the LED replacement bulbs in the mounts.

      You just never know what kinds of curve balls your airplane is going to throw your way. This is why a great AMO is such a valuable asset!

    I heard a mechanic refer to older planes as vintage, and to be respected as preserving a piece of aviation history.

    Bit of an angle on that electrical cable on that temp sensor or pressure switch at 8:38-8:41. Looks a bit tight...

    Does the hug constitute bribing an official. No offense, but in this case that would be a NOOO😂
    Interesting piece … previous geezer drew down the value; you are in effect rebuilding it to almost new

    Brant Aero, is a great place for avionics,Josh, Dan, and the crew are pros, I love that Pat test flies and gets “ALL” the bugs out before u pickup your plane. 👍👍

    Isn’t there still a limit life of 5000 hrs on the wing spar in the non pressurized that the P models don’t have

    • @tomairtv
      @tomairtv  5 месяцев назад

      I am at a mere 1900 hours so I don't worry about such things. I did do some research and there does appear to be a wing spar AD that is due at 5K. I doubt that will be my problem.

      @@tomairtv Tom, your skymaster is a beautiful example. I had a 73 P model with riley esk paint scheme N32S with 3100 hours. I loved that airplane. Twin engine redundancy, with no chance of asymmetric thrust if one is lost. “Doctor proof” Enjoy yours!!

    So one year, no matter how many hours?

    • @tomairtv
      @tomairtv  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, one annual inspection each year but there are other components in the plane that are on slightly different schedules so if I fly a lot sometimes those items come up even more often (oil changes etc.).

    Errmmm ... my '69--very much American--has zinc chromate.

      Good to know. I thought it was just the Reims French 337s that had it. One less thing I can brag about...😪
