He dropped some crazy info here! Q and Wingo being in the same group. Devante producing for 112. Montell Jordan’s “I Like” being the same sample as Only You. I have heard about the Boyz II Men “Now That We’re Done” connection and also how they first sang the line on the Uhh Ahh Sequel mix
😮 so many hidden gems dropped on this interview: the JE-112 connection, 112 using reworked Boyz II Men songs from the II album (which you can definitely hear and envision). You are correct that the 1st 112 album has #NoSkips!
I always wondered why Al B. Sure had writing credits on 112 first album but he had a group named Ladae that was 112 "rival" at the time. It makes sense now. He co wrote the songs(Now That We're Done and Can I Touch You) years before 112 was formed. I didn't know those songs were BllM songs, though you can hear it and BllM had a verse that stated off with "now that we're done"
Man - this is great because that first 112 album got me a lot of women in the Navy - let's go USS SARATOGA - Mayport. Seriously that album was amazing. Listening to this interview made me FB search some old flames😂😂
Funny thing! As he tell the story.. My production partner Voe and I was called down by Cheryl Flowers to Puff office to listen to a group he was thinking about signing. Circa (1996) Group walks in Puff office with their manager Kevin Wells.. Puff office was on 19th street between 5th and 6th ave at the time.. 1 member was carrying a Casio keyboard with the wire to plug in.. A few members of the Bad Boy staff was in attendance. I remember them singing this tribute song to Puff naming all the artist on Bad Boy.. I remember leaving his office with lots of Bad Boy merch, I get in my man jeep and start telling him Puff got another one bro.. whoever these kids are is next! It was 112..
I personally didn't find 112 that appealing as a group. While they had good harmony, their individual singing was lacking. Additionally, I couldn't understand why Slim was given so much prominence; his singing voice was unpleasant to listen to. He used to shriek, squeal, and bleat. He made their songs annoying. Comparatively, I didn't much enjoy Dru Hill's music, but they were far better singers than 112.
That was what made Slim unique. He didn't sound like everyone else and the others complemented his vocals perfectly and made the songs well-rounded in my opinion
Now That We're Done will always be a classic, my favorite 112 song
I agree.. 112 first album is a classic with NO SKIPS
Agreed that first album is a classic!
That first 112 album is incredible. Still their best to this day in my opinion.
I agree that the 112 album is a no-skip album. I know I wore my cassette out when it first dropped.
Cassette? Come on now. That 112 album was WELL into the era of CD.

Montell Jordan- I Like featuring Slick Rick
112- Only You featuring Notorious B.I.G
Same sample. Great songs.
I always learn new information on your channel. Thanks for this. Big ups!!!
My pleasure

10:33 Montell Jordan - I Like
Truth
They should have signed with Dallas 😊
Nope he didn't have successful groups that lasted. Solo wise maybe
Truth be told, it would be interesting if they did sign to Laface since they are from ATL. 112 with Organized Noize or Jermaine Durpi 🤔🤔🤔
How was it A Battle if 112 said Dallas passed on them. Q just said it in 2024 thats so crazy podcast.

Always trying to get guests on Halftime Chat
Yea….. No! He lost me when he compared Slim to Kevon Edmonds. That’s blasphemous.

Slim's voice will forever be annoying.
😂 I might say unique
To you lol
@@Immeallday; Right. It's an opinion of mine.

Exactly...🤣🤣

Puffy needed the group to sound different from everyone else since he already worked with Jodeci and Guy on Uptown Records. Slim sounded unique
What?? You trippin, it was the opposite of everything you said and sound like a hater.
