Every team has 5-8 million every period to spend from that pool. Sasaki waited to be posted so he can get a better bonus than now because most teams have used this last periods money. Also, teams can not manipulate a deal in any way or the league will step in and nullify the deal and prevent that team from further involvement and potentially penalize them. That has happened in recent years, and it was a scandal that was exposed.

I'd love Roki Sasaki...I don't think he makes a big impact in 2025 though. His biggest impact would be if the Mariners trade a SP for an impact bat.
