"Coast to coast LA to Chicago" is a Sade lyric and the melody pretty much is too. But yes very funny to take a stab at her and her horribly designed lyric

This song is pretty much about the future and a mix of politics, so when he says that, he means the stupidity of people today, "Defying western logic, even if it shows your wrong", meaning looking at a whole futuristic generation and Globalization resulting in more westernized nations and societies and people denying that our world is forming into one culture although is truly is. "I guess that's a classic, that's been with us all along." Means that we have always had Globalization and it is now a classic for the number of years it really has been with us. Julian's lyrics are always misunderstood, misinterpreted and underestimated, and if you think behind them, and look at the videos of some of the songs, you understand what he really means.

I love this song, it kind of feels like to me Julian is setting up that hammock between The Strokes and The Voidz because this song seems like the crossroads between the two groups.

I totally agree. At 3:40 it gets very Voidz-ey with the abnormal vocals; all that's missing is the world music. Love this song so much!

@@jhace158anos6 well i just said llollll you cant get an accurate idea of what was my tone with just that. Anyway, ill try my best doing so. I'm sad that you wanna see me flop.
By the way, ive been a big fan of the strokes for many years. And anyone that has hearded their albums knows that their nature is to do the same all the time haha. I mean not conceptually, but musically, their chord progression, the Instruments role, its all in a similar and its very simple. Thats exactly what characterizes them since the begining, simplicity, and thats what make you like every new song of them the first time you listen to it, because your brain os already aquinted to that pattern and you like it.
And thats great, thats probabbly the geniality of that project (musically speaking, im not talking about the artistic concept, or what they express and the lyrics).
I just laugh at saying that they pull of a New Style of music. Maybe from 80's Comedown Machine and ahead, but their simple escence still there, and over all their work, and many songs still sound like the first albums in certain way.
You cant say the same thing for artick monkeys. Tranquility base hotel and casino. Now thats a different Style.

"Try to sell the water, try to sell the air, try to sell your daughter, try to sell her hair" such clever lyrics in this one, and I'm loving the Survivor/80's vibe (that 'tiririii' thing). For me this song needed a couple of hearings to get into it for real but now I'm addicted. And the video is trippy and beautiful, it reminds me to a evolution from the Hard to Explain vid. Ugh I love this song so much and it's so underrated, but I can tell why some people wouldn't like it for sure. I'm just so glad they did something like this in their new album with At The Door, and they even added an awesome music video just like this one. I'm just so freaking happy man. Their latest album was perfection

@Ur Ded I wrote this 10 months ago and I leveled up the bizarre songs. I put Tyler the Creator (such as cherry bomb album songs and odd Future), emerson lake and palmer, mike oldfield masterpieces, etc). As a brazilian, it is quite amazing put Racionais MC and some funk proibidão (forbidden funk, usually songs that reference brazilian crime organizations such as "Na faixa de gaza" which references Comando Vermelho).

@@solidifiedmilk571 yeah sure! With Drag Queen a girl asked me why he was singing so funny, and also some teenagers who were leaving a party. They stood in silence and started laughing at some point of the song. However the main reactions were with Tyler and Igorrr. Probably the best one was with an old lady who was in the church and listened to Brutal Swing from Igorrr. She said nothing, but I could see she was somehow terrified. I kept a creepy smile in the face and acted like a weirdo, making everything roboticly (is this word even real?). She left the car saying "Jesus loves you" and I answered "Thank him for it". She was very confused. I received an evaluation of 1 star, but I don't care.
