it's your 2nd anniversary! i'm considering this surgery and thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm afraid of it but thinking it is probably the best option for me.
Thank you for your video. I went for a doctor who was highly recommended by my pulmonologist who recommended this physician. He had only done 10 inspire surgeries, so I wasn’t ready to do it in 2016. Flash forward until now and have been trying cpap again with no success. I’ve suffered with severe fatigue and have given me Nuvigal to help with my fatigue. I’m still researching the surgery and trying to find a doctor that has done a significant number of inspire surgeries. I really hope you have some success with this device. If you have time, let me know if it was worth it. Thank you and be safe.
You are very lucky. I only used Oxy for two days but the swelling is very bad. Sore throat for three days but other than that both incisions itch like crazy! Hope this works as I’m still on cpap and can’t stand it.
still seems so primitive if the surgery leaves a 5 cm scar to run a wire...my understanding is those batteries only last 11 years at best. Think the technology will change by then? I hope so.
I'm looking forward to speaking to my Doctor about possibly getting this implant. Have sleep apnea but cannot use the CPAP mask *(for my life), unfortunately it's just collecting dust.
Well everyone I just came back from my inspire consult and because my BMI is too high I don’t qualify mine is 35. I’m about 25 pounds overweight. I’m 5’3 218lbs. Also the insurance company would want me to try other less expensive therapies first. Then I would have to be put under anesthesia and have a tube put down my throat to be evaluated. I basically told the doctor I’m not mentally ready to have another needle jammed into my vein. But for everyone else out there I wish you all t he e very best and let me know how you are doing. Thank you Adam. A speedy recovery to you.
Sorry to hear that. I have heard of a few folks who had to lose a little weight to qualify. I barely squeaked by weight wise when I got mine. As for the test you will have to have done, when they did mine they did not put any airway or tube down me, they just gave me the medicine to knock me out, visually examined my airway and then woke me up. Took less than 10 minutes.
@@AdamHeard yeah mine would take an being done in a hospital. I wasn’t happy with the consult to be honest. He never explained my night terrors or anything. He just told me to lose the weight first and then call back to make an appointment. If the good Lord decides to take me home what better way to go in my sleep. Next I start a training regime with a trainer at my gym. Who told excercise is the best way to get to sleep. The doctor wanted to put me on a medical weight loss program which costs money and getting injections. I said hell no to that. That gets expensive. Oh well a shot of rum in my sparkling water before bed helps me out the best seriously it relaxes me. Take care dear friend.
I literally had mine installed some three hours ago. Tongue sore? Yep. Soar throat? Yep. Took a bit to wake up from the anesthesia? Of course. But everything went well. How are you doing after two years?
I will try to soon. Thanks for letting me know you would like one. There are several updates on my channel including from just a few weeks ago after my sleep study.
No different than someone with a pacemaker. I tell them I have an implanted device that is sensitive to magnets and show them my inspire card. No problems yet.
Depends on type of work you do. Can’t lift anything over a certain weight for a week or two. I am a hospice nurse and I had my surgery on Thursday, took Friday off and went back on Monday.
I had very little pain, mostly just feeling sore. Used maybe 2-3 of the pain med they gave me but after that Tylenol worked just fine. Probably could have just used Tylenol and been ok.
The test procedure to see if you have the kind of sleep apnea eligible for Inspire is a piece of cake. You are under sedation for just a few minutes and when you wake up you go home. No recovery period required. The recovery for the actual implantation was simple too. I had mine done on a Thursday, relaxed for the weekend and went back to work on Monday or Tuesday.
Thank you for sharing your story. It surely helps those of us about to do this. God bless you and your family extra good.

So far, for me, it has definitely been worth getting done.

Hi Adam, Are you going to be making a follow up video? Would love to hear an update

I got mine last month
Great! How are you doing so far?
Adam what about going thru airports and metal detectors is it is a hassle?
No different than someone with a pacemaker. I tell them I have an implanted device that is sensitive to magnets and show them my inspire card. No problems yet.
Did they give meds for pain after?
Yes, but I had very little pain. Might have used 1 pain tablet.
What’s the recovery time? Should you take a few days off afterwards? Keep us informed pkease

What’s your pain level will I need prescription meds ?
I had very little pain, mostly just feeling sore. Used maybe 2-3 of the pain med they gave me but after that Tylenol worked just fine. Probably could have just used Tylenol and been ok.
I'm having a procedure to determine if I qualify for my insurance, I'm really nervous, how long did the recovery take?

I am hesitant to have this surgery because I am afraid this devise will come lose in my body and the nasty keloid this could leave .
