Hey guys! 👸🏼 I’m super excited and a little bit nervous to present you my latest cover: a medley of songs from the Barbie Movie - a movie that’s been super successful in the last months. When I saw the movie, it was love at first sight. The way it empowers women and, in fact, all people to stand up against patriarchy was incredibly inspiring to me. And it was done in an EXTREMELY funny way. 💅🏻
As a gay man, I’m equally opposed to the limitations and power dynamics forced upon us by patriarchal culture and I hope I can help combatting toxic masculinity by my work as an artist and as a voice.
This is a story of emancipation and - like the movie - it’s done in a funny, satirical way because laughter might be our strongest weapon in this fight. We cannot let ourselves be defined by the roles that privileged, white, straight cis-men have tried to push us into. Where there is oppression, there can never be love and I truly believe that love is the most import thing in this world. It connects us to other people and it makes us behave peaceful and caring in all kinds of situations. So be loving, be brave and fight patriarchy! Barbie might teach us, how. 💕
