I made a list of the basics I would need if I lost power due to a storm in winter, or summer (things to provide alternative light, heat, food, water, medicine, etc.). I made a list, watched YT videos on what items NOT to buy, and over time made small purchases that will help keep most of the basics covered if we have 10-14 days without power. I didn't hurry. Every time I hurry, I make errors that cost $$.

Excellent. We do the same. We live way out in the country and we have to have extra provisions and extra ways to heat our home. We have like minded neighbors and we’ve all had to help one another at different times for various things 😊

Very useful tips! Yes, I do rely on RUclips whenever I need instructions on doing something. There are times when I realize I need a professional. I'm wary of "handyman" services out here so I prefer paying more for established companies. Too many scammers out there these days!
