    Lora, you are so organized. Thank you so much for doing this video. Now I have a game planning with all the quilts I've purchased and been scared to start. I probably have at least 4 of her applique quilts I haven't started. I've done pieced but applique, I've only started one and that was over 2 years ago, still haven't finished it (Flea Market Flowers). I'm ready to move forward with that one and complete the others!

    I just loved your video Lora. You answered every query and more for my first appliqué project. I adore getting organised and now I need your project boxes. If only we had Target here in France! Or even a quilt shop nearer than a 90 min drive for one quarter size of US. Thank goodness for Amazon .enjoy your QA with Lori . I’ll be with you both! Sadly not doing the quilt but an easier one to begin with. Famous last words!

    Brilliant, Lora! I think you are making unique videos here and the wonderful Lori Holt should be impressed too! I’m making mine with different fabrics and don’t have a kit but after watching this I am going to match up my substitutes and then do the cutting as you suggest. X

    Just found you video and love all the extra tips I did not now. As I’m a applique quilter, but you really opened my eyes. Any hints as to where I could find patterns for Christmas houses. Each year our guild picks a different theme. One year Santa, snowmen, Christmas tree, and so on. Pull out a block at Christmas party and that person gets them and has to have it together by Christmas the following year. I going to subscribe to your channel. Thanks again for all the great tips

      Hmmm... well, as I am a HUGE Lori Holt fan, I would check out the Vintage Christmas book, her Hometown quilt (applique) because there may be something you could modify, especially if you added in some of the Cozy Christmas (Applique) shapes... That could be sooo cute.
      Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing. :)

    I am so glad I came across your RUclips video. I have completed some Lori Holt quilts (pieced and also sew simple shapes), she is a favorite of mine. I should pick up my kit for Hometown in about a week and this will be the first time I have used a kit. Your tips will be useful and I love to be organized. Where did you find your project boxes? Also, did I understand correctly they are 12 inches?

      You are so welcome! I'm so glad it helped. I get my boxes at Michael's or joann's. Their pricing and coupons make them very affordable. I think they're like 13x13. Typically in storage or scrapbook area

      It's a Quilters Select. I love it, but it does take a little to get used to. It's heavier and the added weight helps stabilize and cut through lots of layers. :) Thanks for watching.

    I am getting ready to make my first Lori Holt appliqué quilt and was wondering how to organize all those pieces. Thank you!! Question: do you starch your fabric? Thanks!☺️

    • @lorabrinkman
      @lorabrinkman  Год назад +1

      I do not prewash or starch my fabrics. I will spray the block with best press when giving a final press before cutting to size

    I have a question. When you decide to make a Lori holt quilt do you just need to buy the fat quarter bundle? Or do you also need to buy other fabrics along with that?

    • @lorabrinkman
      @lorabrinkman  Год назад +1

      It depends on the quilt. Riley Blake releases a cutting guide to shops that tell them how much of each fabric you need. I have used a fat quarter bundle for a starting place with a couple, but for borders and backgrounds you need yardage. If you want your quilt to look just like hers, the easiest would be to purchase a kit through a shop. You can also use stash fabrics, but you would want to consult the guide to figure out how much you need.

      It is one of the first things i do. I trace my shapes before cutting fabric
