Completely agree with the “this should’ve been in game.” Aside from all three levels astronomically making the game better with either pushing the horror experience with the sewers, fleshing out Jackson to make it feel alive, or like you said showing Ellie sad instead of just angry all the time, all three would’ve been really nice. Plus, Dina’s rifle in the Boar hunt level being used by Ellie would’ve been another great weapon to feature in the main campaign or in No Return. Love the video! Keep up the serious great work!
What's cool about the hunt sequence is that you can actually find in Ellie's journal her writing about it and how it sounded like Joel in the base game, which is a neat little detail :)
"i really wish the game had ellie have schizophrenic hallucinations of her dead father joining her on her murder spree through seattle, that wouldve really upped the game imo"
yeah lmao its supposed to be a revenge story and yknow actually reminding players what theyre fighting for would be good, aswell as make ellies character better as she tries to convince herself its not a crazy murder spree and the repercussions of all this violence that shes done and witnessed could manifest in ptsd with joels death being her breaking point
I think it would have, actually. Seeing her trauma and thinking about Joel's death more, as well as her own self reflection would have fleshed things out.
Upon hearing about the " Lost Levels" I thought they would be fifnished and fully integrated into the main story, not pre- alpha in the Extras. They had 3 years since release. The Boar Hunt especially could have been so nice: Ellie hunts an animal after the significant other gets hurt like Part1, big open area for the first shots and then the Boar runs off into the gas station for the second phase. The extra sewer section is a no- brainer and should be included. The Jackson Part is a slow section but would have its fans.
I also thought the lost levels would have been new things added to the main game, not side stuff 😅 Also yeah, the sewers and boar levels were really good, and having Ellie hallucinate Joel throughout the game and show her really struggle with the trauma would have made the story so much more engaging. But, you know, stuff had to get cut to give Abby time to shine 🥲
Ok I love you and that you're actually honest about the issues with this game. So many fans of the game worship it and get angry when other people don't. I completely agree they should have just finished the levels. They could have made the boar fight longer too cuz it was kinda lame with only two hits. I also wish they showed Ellie's grief and PTSD more throughout gameplay moments. I know in the sewer the commentator said the clicker moment doesn't really lead to anything story-wise so they put a PTSD moment in the farmhouse part instead...but honestly, who cares? It doesn't have to lead to a story beat. They could have included both. It's not like Ellie's trauma only exists when it's plot convenient. I feel like some of their choices were not very well thought out.
I'm gonna pretend that the hunt and the sewers one exist, her ptsd would work well if it was a repeated thing throughout, not near the end of the game.
Just played no return mode and that was quite challenging and fun 😅 Can't wait to see you playing it , I'm sure you'll enjoy it 😍 And also thanks for making videos like this. Love your content very much ❤
I like the Hunt level because it really highlights Ellie's PTSD, as well as the internal conflict she faces over not killing Abby. The boar she tries to catch repeatedly runs away and defends itself, and a parallel between the boar and Abby can be made: both of them are being hunted by Ellie and are actively defending themselves from her. When she finally defeats the boar, she witnesses it writhe in pain, which triggers her PTSD and reminds her of when she saw Joel suffering before his murder. In that portion of the level alone, Ellie could realize that that situation parallels Joel's death, and she can either perceive the boar as Joel or perceive herself as no better than Abby. I may be overanalyzing it, but it definitely could've worked if it was included.
I wish No Return was a coop game, but it is nice to have something out of it. I would say they got to fix a good amount of things to make it feel smoother as you play, but gotta give them props to actually getting it out there for $10 if you already had the game
10:30 I guess that you also have to take into account what the overal game is trying to achieve and how the hunt ultimately fits within that theme. 'Gamey' here refers to how the hunt feels juxtaposed to how the game plays sec. More to the point: a push-pedal bike riding segment in a formula one game. You can imagine the myriad of questions that one has when confronted with that. The more the game took shape, the more the hunt became a 'push-pedal bike riding segment' and it served no more reasonable function within the game's wider structure. Not everything is anti-fun, anti-gamer, anti-whatever-next-youtubers-come-up-with. Sometimes stuff just doesn't work out.
As much as i love the story and the first game, i just wish they executed the story they wanted to differently. Like how left behind was it’s own separate game connected to the main story, could’ve been Abby’s pov as she would be a bit more of a mystery like she is in Ellie’s pov. That way it’d be making Ellie’s decisions all the more impactful as we see her mindset and thoughts throughout the course of the journey hunting for Abby and it wouldn’t feel so rushed. This would allow the story to focus mainly on Ellie and her inner turmoil and the relationship between our characters rather than trying to make the player emotionally connected to Abby in such a weird space and cut in the game. In the end of the day it’s a game, and i do come to have an escape from the real world but i also want to have FUN. I only come back for No return even tho i got a few some gripes with the combat system, but i don’t want to be smacked with more real life sensations. Don’t get me wrong, I love how brutal and real Joel’s death was, and it definitely got it’s money worth by allowing him to loom over the player in both Ellie and our minds throughout the play through. I would still think it would have been nice to see a hallucination section like you mentioned instead, that would have been really interesting too.
I think they should actually finish the leves at least. I know it made to watch the early game but they should at least let you choose betwen the early level and the finish level. Or even let you choose to play the game with the levels incorporated or not because 3 years is a lot of time to make something for the game can actually be called "REMASTERED" Such a waste 😔
Day six of asking for a Silenced weapons only run, and the rules are simple: Ellie- can use Bow (but not bomb arrows), submachine gun, and pistol (but when it has silencer). Abby: can use crossbow, pistol (when it has silencer). Both: can use any other weapon (like knife, fist, ax, machete, bat, and so on) and bricks (to bash in enemies heads) and bottles (to lure away enemies) Now it did try this, and it was fun (i was also playing on moderate).
it would be cool if after ellie killed nora, nora would be halucinated as joel meaning ellie isn't that different now even tho they all deserved what was coming for them
one of the reasons for buying tlou 2 remastered is lost levels only having 3 lost levels of which are only like 45 minutes to finish all of them is kind of a let down i enjoyed these three levels but there wasn't enough in my opinion
Yeah I thought it was weird that they remastered it so early but I checked and the first game was released in 2013 and the remastered was released in 2014, and the second game was released almost 4 years ago so ??? Idk I guess Covid is still messing with everyone’s perception of time
Kinda painful to watch you show absolutely no care for the lost level introductions or even the devs thoughts on level/mechanic design, basically the whole point they added these levels to begin with lol
So true. It‘s like she completely misses the point😂. It also seems like she really didn’t understand major parts of the story. Like, how can she say that we never really got to see Ellie being sad because of Joels death with a straight face. I like the challenges she does but damn her statements about the story are so cringe.
@@hanajak it would have been nice to see them finish but they’re fine as behind the scene content… definitely not lame… this is very in character for naughty dog to do… and they explained why they’re all removed, makes sense to me…
@@hanajak bro the WHOLE POINT is to get a glimpse into what game production is like, to look at an unfinished level and hear about what it was going to be and why it was cut🤦♂️ It‘s ok if you’re not interested in that but don’t judge it as something that it isn’t trying to be and then be disappointed!
@@henrihai1940 Well yeah it's obvious that's the point now that it's out. But the way it was advertised made me think, 'oh cool they added new levels to the game'. My mistake I guess. What they did with the dev narration is fine, but I'm not really interested in that so it was lackluster to me 🤷🏾♀️
I would've really enjoyed this video, if it weren't your commentary 24/7 all throughout. Just let the game speak and add your part after it's done. Not during all of it. The last of us 1 and 2 are such amazing games and the levels deserve their own time as well. You didn't talk while Joel died or someone else important got killed. Why talk during the developer talks. Hey Gurl!! I got a Challenge for you...
Can you beat the last of us part 1 or 2 Shotgun only?
Up to you what game you wanna do it on!
Day six of asking for a Silenced weapons only run, and the rules are simple:

No it doesn't it's 10 dollars if you own the game for ps5 upgrade and only cost 49$ if you didn't own it at first, not the typical playstation 70$
